GM - Mark Garringer
Pressing forward, there is a closed door in front of you to the east and a north-south hallway. The northern hallway looks like it goes east again after about 40 feet. The souther hallway looks like it goes back west almost immediately.
GM - Mark Garringer
Felix listens at the door at the door and checks for traps, finding none he opens the door as Dobin and Parfin move into the room first.
This room contains 5 circular pools, each of which is 5 ft. in diameter and has a 1 ft. tall stone lip. You notice a hole beside the north door of the room; it was obviously once a much smaller murder hole used to guard the door, but it has been partially battered away, and the opening is now about one foot by two feet large.
GM - Mark Garringer
Kwin peers into the first pool inside the door and sees that it is about 3 ft. deep and appears to be otherwise empty with a stone bottom.
Parfin Groud
Interesting. Parfin moves closer to the hole in the wall near the north door and tries to see if anything can be seen. Do any of these pools have anything in them anymore?
GM - Mark Garringer
Rose begins to inspect each pool in turn.
Kwin beings casting detect magic while investigating the closest pool to him. You sense the presence of magical auras.
Dobin moves into the room more, watching his companions. He sees Rose's face turn pale white as she approaches the pool just north of him and she drops her (whip and shield?) and runs out of the room at top speed!
Lila confusedly calls after her once or twice then tries to run after her!
Parfin looks into the darkness beyond the hole in the wall, seeing nothing. As he stares into the darkness, a very small, winged insect flies out and dives right for Parfin's face! It manages to stab it's long, needle like nose right into the half-orc's face, it's barbed legs wrapping into his flesh!
SS 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (6) + 16 = 22
PP 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Insect touch attack vs. Parfin! 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Dobin - Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Felix - Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Jericho - Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Kwin - Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Parfin - Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Rose - Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Lilia - Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Round 1:
Rose - fleeing
Parfin
Jericho!
Felix
Stirge
Dobin
Lilia
Kwin
Parfin the stirge is grappled to your face!
Parfin, Jericho and Felix may act!
Jericho Greywind
Not wanting to cleave off Parfin's face with his halberd, Jericho draws his dagger as he moves next to Parfin, and tries to stick the little beast!
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
GM - Mark Garringer
As Parfin tries to pull the thing off him, Jericho kindly comes up and stabs it through with his dagger killing it!
Out of Combat
Parfin Groud
Did I take any damage?
Parfin throws the creature down on the ground and stomps on it like the bug it is. Thank you, Jericho! That was... unpleasant. Parfin then looks around the room and notices that Rose and Lilia are not there. Where'd the women go?
GM - Mark Garringer
1d100 ⇒ 19
Actually I'm going to keep it in combat order for the moment, it'll make more sense in a bit. Parfin, you still have a move and standard for Round 1 and everyone else is able to act for Round 1. I miss read the stat block, you will take 1 Con damage.
Lilia moves closer to the door, following Rose. She looks concerned, and her daggers are drawn.
Parfin Groud
Parfin will move to see what Lilia is concerned about (5' step south). For my standard action I will ready my greatsword for a charge attack (unlikely to happen with all the people in the way but I have nothing else to do).
Felix Nin
|
Rummaging in his pack, Felix gets out a jar and a set of tongs. Scraping the insect off the floor he puts it in the jar and examines it. Humm, I am not sure that I have ever seen anything like this.
Can I make a knowledge check to figure out what the bug is?
I have seen spells that cause a person to flee in uncontrolled fear. It should wear off soon, just try not to let her run into something dangerous like a trap or other inhabitants of this place. Felix goes back to looking at the bug and scanning the room for any other oddities without moving to close to anything in particular.
GM - Mark Garringer
Parfin and Jericho hear the sound of several pairs of flapping wings from the other room.
Felix also notes the pale pink color of the dead stirge. "Looks like he hasn't eaten in a while."
Direction: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Rose continues down the hallway, reaching the intersection but heading straight west back the way you came. Lilia follows quickly behind, "Rose, Rose stop. It's ok. Jericho killed it!"
Round 2:
Rose - fleeing
Parfin
Jericho!
Felix
Dobin
Lilia
Kwin
Everyone else may act!
Parfin Groud
We can't let her roam the hallways alone! After her! Parfin will follow wherever Rose goes. Double move to get in front of her (though I do not have another action to try and grab her).
GM - Mark Garringer
Jericho readies himself for more of the creatures, and it doesn't take long for a pair to appear. Hungrily they dive right at him!
Jericho's readied attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Jericho's swing is too slow for the fast moving creature though!
They both try to attach themselves to the warrior!
Stirge 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 vs. touch *hit*
Stirge 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 vs. touch *hit*
Jericho suffers a total of 2 Con damage as they drain his blood. Also you (and them) are grappled. Because they are tiny, they will occupy the same square as you but to keep roll20 more usable I'll not overlap all the tokens.
I believe Felix and Dobin can still take some kind of reactionary action this round if they'd like.
Parfin Groud
How far does Rose get? I'm assuming she can't "run" since I'm in her way. How far does a double move get her? Can I attempt to restrain her as she goes thru my square?
GM - Mark Garringer
Parfin and Rose have already moved full for Round 2, but for Round 3 I'll let you make a grapple check when she runs past you.
Dobin stabs one of the hungry buggers, removing it's dead form off Jericho.
I'll move ahead to Round 3 later tonight if I don't hear from Felix to get things back to moving :)
GM - Mark Garringer
GMBOT Felix takes careful aim with his shortbow at the other stirge. "Hold on Jericho, I've got him..." The arrow does in fact skewer the creature, spraying blood - Jericho's blood - everywhere, but the thing manages to cling to life, and Jericho's arm!
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Round 3:
Rose - fleeing
Parfin
Jericho!
Felix
Dobin
Lilia
Kwin
Stirge #3 - 4 damage taken
Rose continues to flee, but Parfin now in front of her tries to grapple the halfling as she rushes toward him! But the little halfing is too quick for the half-orc and she dashes past him as she continues down the long hallway towards the main stairway! Lilia hustles after Rose, keeping close to her boss.
Parfin grapple: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 vs. CMD 12 *fail*
1d3 ⇒ 2
Jericho uses his dagger to dig off the rest of the creature on him, splattering what's left onto the floor with a wet thwack.
From the other side of the hole in the wall, there is the sound of more wing flapping.
Felix, Dobin and Kwin are up for Round 3!
Parfin Groud
Parfin chases after Rose again. Using move action to follow her. If I can use my standard to grab her again, I will. If I already used it with that feeble attempt earlier then I'll try again next turn. I'm not sure if that one was considered an AoO.
GM - Mark Garringer
Parfin I didn't really think about doing it as an AoO, but that works for me, so you standard would still be available.
Parfin grapple: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 vs. CMD 12 *success*
Dobin readies an attack, which he takes as another stirge files out at him!
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 *miss*
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Three stirges fly out of the hole, 2 attacking Dobin and 1 attacking Jericho!
Stirge 4 vs. Dobin: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 *touch* *hit*
Stirge 5 vs. Dobin: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 *touch* *hit*
Stirge 6 vs. Jericho: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 *touch* *hit*
Dobin takes 2 Con damage.
Jericho takes 1 Con damage.
Felix fires his shortbow again at stirge #4
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 *hit*
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Round 4:
Rose - grappled and no longer fleeing
Parfin
Jericho!
Lilia
Kwin
Stirge #4 - 4 damage taken
Stirge #5
Stirge #6
Felix
Dobin
Rose, Parfin, Jericho and Kwin are up!
Parfin : 1d100 ⇒ 51
Jericho: 1d100 ⇒ 98
Jericho: 1d100 ⇒ 43
Dobin : 1d100 ⇒ 65
Dobin : 1d100 ⇒ 35
Jericho: 1d100 ⇒ 98
Kwin Avassar
"Excellent, Parfin! Now let's get back to the others. I wonder why they didn't follow?"
Kwin double moves back toward the room.
Are we hearing sounds of combat from the room that we in the hallway just left?
Edit: As he gets closer, he calls back to the others "Sounds like they are in trouble!"
Parfin Groud
Is Rose still trying to flee? If so I'll have to continue to hold her until she snaps out of it.
I'll take care of Rose. You guys get back in there and help them!
GM - Mark Garringer
Parfin - Rose does not appear to be fighting to escape or trying to flee. Her eyes look a little glassy and she seems disoriented.
Rose Silversting
Rose comes to her senses, only to find herself being picked up by Parfin. She shakes her head. "Woah, what's going on here? Oh -- the pool! I got next to one of the pools near Dobin, and just got freaked out! Careful or it might happen again!"
Rose looks around her. "It sure is a nice view from up here. Maybe I should invest in some stilts! But we'd better head back to the others."
When Parfin sets her down, she's rushing back. Full round action to Run - move 4x speed in a straight line (80 feet). Lose dex bonus (so she's at AC17 without shield or dex).
GM - Mark Garringer
GMBOT Jericho stabs with his dagger at the stirge attached to him, skewing it and pulling the dead creature off him!
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
The other two stirges try and continue to drain poor Dobin!
Stirge #4 maintain grapple: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 vs. CMD 15 *success*
Stirge #5 maintain grapple: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 vs. CMD 15 *success*
Dobin takes 2 more points of Con damage!
Felix and Dobin are up!
Dobin Cur
Owww..this sucks!!...Pun intended :-)
Again Dobin attempts to grab the creatures attached to his body and crush them. They seem familiar and he attempts to recognize what they are
Know-Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Attack-Grapple: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
-4 Con, new HP-20
It looks like my previous turn has disappeared...attempted the same grapple and damage...but I do not see it here anywhere...weird
GM - Mark Garringer
Dobin manages to grab hold of the stirge that Felix wounded already and pulls it from him, squeezing the life out of the creature in his strong hand!
Felix for Round 4!
GM - Mark Garringer
GMBOT Felix attempts to shoot the remaining stirge off of Dobin, but misses wildly.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 *miss*
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Round 5:
Rose
Parfin
Jericho
Lilia
Kwin
Stirge #5
Felix
Dobin
Rose, Parfin, Jericho and Kwin are up!
GM - Mark Garringer
Just one, sorry I forgot to update that on the map. The hole is about 1 foot by 2 foot in size.
