Anna Dunsany |

GM Mug |

Sorry for the bystanders! I haven't figured how to avoid it at the moment.

Anna Dunsany |

Anna orders the runt up and back to the guardhouse. Folding her arms, she looks down her nose at the goblin as she speaks. I don't believe that this anklebiter is just a lowly slave likehe claims, but he's got an idea. The dog-thing didn't react to guards wearing a uniform. It might not be smart enough to tell people apart.

Tolvan |

Ah. good work. Worth a try. But we only have one uniform, right? And maybe not an entire uniform at that.

Anna Dunsany |

One uniform? Anna asks, disappointed. She glowers at the goblin.
Okay, how about we just kill the troll and doggie from above, then do the same with the other one at long distance? Or do we need to give them a chance to show they're working for Caromarc?
She turns to the goblin. Any ideas why the trolls are here, trying to get inside?

Anna Dunsany |

Anna drops an exasperated sigh and looms over the goblin. Drop. The. ACT!
Tolvan, tell me you have a spell or something to turn this guy inside out. He knows more than he's letting on. There's no way he just found this little bauble. she dangles the gagged skull before its face.

Tolvan |

No, no spell that does that directly. But I could summon this demon who loves to do that to goblins. And then it would owe me a favor. That would be nice. Tolvan muses. Then turning to the goblin he says in a harsher tone. Ba ako summon ang yawa kun kamo sa pagsulti kanato sa diin ang imong trinket gikan sa?
Shall I summon the demon or shall you tell us where your trinket came from?
Note that no bluff roll is needed here as Tolvan is not bluffing.

Kimberly Snow |

Kimberly goes up on the roof (or wherever up high) to watch the Troll and other creatures to see what they are doing while the "grown-ups" are working.

Tolvan |

Don't let them see you Kimberly. Tolvan warns when he see's the girl headed for a tower.

Danica Quinn |

Danica smirks at the possible emotions that the goblin must be feeling.
Danica says to Andjela "We should use the alchemical vials on the trolls. Any way you can set them to a arrow and have it explode on impact?"

GM Mug |

The goblin answers in common, throwing both arms up in surrender, "Peez don't be summ'ning ugly demons! Me am told every little thing to youses! Me find!" and he breaks down a little bit, "Me find." he says in a sad and hopeless voice.
Kimberly easily see's the Troll and the dog a few floors below her, eying the golem hound carefully from across the bridge.

Tolvan |

Ok. Tolvan says in a calming voice as he retrieves some some food. Just tell me where you found it and you can go and rest with this.

Anna Dunsany |

Anna looks at Tolvan and shakes her head slightly. She then leans forward producing a dagger from seemingly nowhere. Okay. This is your last chance to tell us something useful. Don't waste it.

Tolvan |

Goblins really like food. :) I suspect that the goblin did find the trinket. Maybe it was dropped by the same cult people that caused all the trouble at the prison and he found it. Maybe the cult folks are here, or have been here.

Tolvan |

Tolvan eyes the goblin critically, looks over at Anna and waits.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

Tolvan |

Nodding at Anna he gives the goblin the food ration and dismisses it for now. We need to deal with the Troll and his dog now. They could come back any minute. Then we can look at resting and recovering some.

Anna Dunsany |

Anna kicks at some stray debris as she rubs her forehead in frustration. The dagger flashes, then disappears as she tucks it away.
Let's get started. Anna retrieves her heavy crossbow, loads it, then moves to the top of the tower.

Tolvan |

Its just a troll and its dog. We buff, open the door and kill them. Tolvan says.

Kimberly Snow |

Kimberly remains as quiet and unseen as she can as she watches the troll and dog. hoping that it does not dake actions to threaten the rest of the group.
stealth if needed: 1d20 ⇒ 9
might be a bonus due to not moving and distance

GM Mug |

I've been assuming Kimberly has been watching unobtrusively from the top of one of the near towers, no stealth needed. Also remember the door to the bridge is barricaded as well. Just give me your game plan and opening surprise round rolls when you're ready. The combat map is at the top of the page for visual reference.

Tolvan |

The wizard considers his spells remaining. I could possibly drop them both into a pit. he muses. And I could summon something to help fight them. Besides that I have a couple missile spells and my bow. He looks to the others for ideas.

Anna Dunsany |

Any way you can cast that spell that makes you move really fast? That looked like fun.

Tolvan |

I like that one too. But I've expended it for today. Tomorrow I'll have it again.

Kimberly Snow |

I know of that spell that makes Tolvan move really fast....is it called create baby?

Danica Quinn |

"I too liked that spell. All of our divine and arcane spells were working in unison. We definitely need to do that again."
"As for the troll and his dog....we can use the Tanglefoot Bags that Tolvan supplied us."

Tolvan |

Then lets get ready to clear the doorway. We will need fire to keep them down. And if I can "pit" one of them then we can take them one at a time

Andjela Daywalker |

I'm certain we can find torches or make-shift ones. And Danica can start a fire.
I will stand with my sword, Anna can drop behind it. Keep it simple.

Anna Dunsany |

That's a thirty-foot drop. That's a bit much for me. I'd rather just snipe from the battlements or get in close. They're pretty slow.

Danica Quinn |

Danica nods.
The Inquisitor Monk begins to look for dry wood or leaves or anything for kindling and gathers them up on the ground. "Where do you want to do this? Here ok?" She begins to rub her hands allowing the friction to build then prepares herself and strikes the dried vegetation. Using Elemental Fist - Fire
As the dried items ignite she prepare it to keep it going.
Survival: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
"OK guys....we got fire."

Anna Dunsany |

Time to do this, Anna mutters low, as she helps to silently remove the barricade blocking the door. Once it's clear, she checks with Kimberly who (hopefully) had been watching the trolls for signs of them hearing the work behind the door.
Assuming all's clear, she readies the crossbow for the surprise round.
Snap shot gives her a +20 initiative in the surprise round. She'll probably be going first.
Aiming at the troll:
Initiative: 1d20 + 10 + 20 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 20 = 46
Ranged, pbs: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 9 + 1 = 30
Damage: 1d10 + 1 + 1 + 3d6 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 + (5, 1, 3) = 16
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 1 = 29
Crit damage: 1d10 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 1 = 9
Befuddling strike: it's at a -2 against me for 1d4 ⇒ 2 rounds.

Tolvan |

Tolvin will position himself a tower on the near side to the trolls. He will choose the one with Kimberly if she plans to stay in the tower.
With his bow ready he will ready to cast Create Pit after range fire is completed in the surprise round (After Anna for sure, likely after Andjela too). He will create the pit so that both the troll and dog will have to save to avoid falling it. Refelx Save DC17 or fall 30', DC 25 to climb. Pit will last for 6 rounds. If both fall in we can throw alchemist fire in after. :)

Kimberly Snow |

inititative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Assuming she was informed of everyone's intentions and plans Kimberly will remain on the tower.
if in range Kimberly yells out demanding the Troll to not move (after the pit is created)
cast forbid action (move) Will save DC 14 negates

Danica Quinn |

Init: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Danica's AC is 27 (Mage Armor and Shield of Faith)

Andjela Daywalker |

atk first wounded, mw elven blade, charge: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 12 + 2 = 17
dmg first wounded, mw elven blade: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

GM Mug |

Once the barricade has been removed, as quietly as possible, you all take your positions. Tolvan and Kimberly in the towers 30' above, the rest down behind the now-clear door.
Surprise Round
Danica, after casting a spell of protection upon herself, throws open the doors to find a completely unprepared Troll and trollhound a short distance away.
Anna releases her carefully aimed crossbow, aiming for a vulnerable spot in the trolls flank. Her bolt flies true, causing the normally tough troll to arch it's back in pain and surprise as the ambush is sprung and the bolt slams into flesh.
With his bow ready Tolvan casts Create Pit after seeing Anna's arrow strike home and no other projectiles follow. He casts his spell and creates the pit so that both the troll and dog have to save to avoid falling it. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 The Troll manages to hop free of the pit, but the hound is not quite so lucky. It falls the 30' body twisting awkwardly and hits with a thud. 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5) = 17
Kimberly yells out demanding the Troll to not move in a voice filled with holy power. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 The huge troll seems to listens to her voice for a moment, but then shakes it's shaggy head, giving the out-of-reach priestess a baleful glare.
Andjela silently charges the first enemy to be wounded, as she explained to the others before the fight started. This enemy is the wounded troll of course, being fully aware it's now under attack, if not quite balanced enough to respond to it. Her elven blade slices deeply into trollhide, wounding the creature substantially.
Ongoing Effects: Shield of Faith (Danica). Please post for Round 1!
- Initiative
- The Group
- Troll
- Trollhound

Anna Dunsany |

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22 Hoping to end up just right of the troll's square.
Melee: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 3d6 ⇒ (1) + 2 + (4, 6, 1) = 14

Tolvan |

Ware the area around the pit. Note that it slants into the pit and is unfriendly terrain. Tolvan calls out a warning as he casts a Magic Missile at the troll
Magic Missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 2, 2) + 3 = 10
If the troll (or any of us) ends its turn adjacent to the pit it (we) must make another reflex save at +2 or slip and fall into the pit. This new save will be a DC15.
