Henrick Bulwark |
Henrick, unconcerned with an escaping guard, and unaware of any other danger, brushes himself off and moves towards an entrance inside, based on N'Neka's comment.

I'm thankful too
Paul and Razor ride down the stairs and position against the wall, preparing to charge at whatever emerges.
Eponine Lokrien Savet |
Eponine readies an action to throw a bomb at the first aggressive target to approach within 20'.
To Hit v. Touch AC: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 5) + 4 = 14
If the emerging target is not hostile, or simply does not emerge:
"We have been sent to recruit or kill you at your own choosing. You can work for the Pathfinders, or we will have to put you down. As you can see, we are very proficient at putting your kind down. Please take this opportunity to surrender."
(Most Appropriate Social Trait): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Ragnar Skarr |
Ragnar moves next to the entrance and looks inside before deciding his next moves.
If there's anything inside, Ragnar will charge it immediately; if there doesn't seem to be any threat there, Ragnar will go out of his rage.
Paul Daley |
After hearing no response. Paul decides to try and negotiate one more time.
This is your last warning! Come out and surrender peacefully or we're going down there and we'll drag your corpses out! Paul roars in a voice that belies his stature.
He then looks to Ragner and says in a voice so calm it's unnerving.
Ranger, Would you kindly pick up a soldier's corpse and drop it down the stairs? Sometimes a visual aid is helpful when trying to convey a message.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Ragnar Skarr |
Ragnar goes out of rage.
"Okay, those seemed like the first of what must be another group inside. They already know we're coming, so let's take a breath and move on." That being said, the large man drags one of the corpses and quite easily throws it down the stairs. "Surrender, or this would be your fate!"
This should allow Ragnar to rest about half a minute and lose the fatigued condition, enabling him to rage again.
Paul Daley |
OK. They've made their choice. Let's catch our breath, then head down the stairs. Paul says to the team.
[b]Henrick, please check for traps and make sure we don't crushed by a rock./b]
Eponine Lokrien Savet |
Eponine forms up with the others to enter the fort building.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Henrick Bulwark |
Henrick takes a step forward when Paul asks him to take a look, and he examines the entrance are for any traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 (add +2 for unusual stonework)
Telos Phane |
"I guess we should just go inside," Telos says. He moves to open the door and enter.
assuming no one else saw anything to stop him.
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Paul Daley |
Seeing Telos take point, Paul and Razor head into the compound behind him.

Telos steps in the archway and looks around. This open courtyard is paved with flagstones and relatively free of debris. Statues ring the central open area, each depicting a tiger-headed man in a martial arts stance. Behind the statues are four sets of stairs. The stairs to the north descend into darkness, and the stairs on the south side once led upward, but have collapsed in a heap.
After his eyes adjust to the change in lighting he sees two monks standing like statues next to the other statues of monks. Seeing they've been detected the monks step off the podium and wordlessly move forward to Telos.

Free Action: Paul yells:
More inside guys! Monks I think! I wonder if a scream counts as breaking a vow of silence!
Standard action for the surprise round.
Stab the closest monk with a lance since it's a reach weapon: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 201d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
I'm sure there's some cover regardless of which one I stab at. You'll add that to their AC, hopefully I still got one. I need to see what the enemies do during the first round before I choose my other actions.
qwerty71 |
still in the surprise round. waiting for Telos to take his action(s) if he wants to roll for an AoO, then monks will go in round1
Telos Phane |
Telos reels under the fists of the quick monks, and is unable to retaliate.
MW Bardiche attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 for Bardiche dmg: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Did my action in the surprise round connect?
qwerty71 |
@Paul- yes it did, waiting to see what Telos does to determine which monk you hit.
qwerty71 |
It seems i did
Telos misses his attack, most likely from getting hit in the face by men in pajamas. However Paul pierces the first Monk with his lance drawing blood, but the monk steels himself to the damage and continues to threaten.
One monk runs to the other entrance to the east...possible AoO from Telos... and the wounded monk continues to attack Telos...Flurry: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3...DMG: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 and misses...

Move action. Paul and Razor move around the wounded monk to get into a flanking position. (eating an AOO)
Standard action: Paul takes another stab with his lance.
Stab: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 231d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Flanking bonus included.

Paul moves around the monk and stabs him which downs the monk...
Telos Phane |
Telos recovers enough to counterattack, then tries to chase down the monk to the south.
AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 for Bardiche dmg: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
MW Bardiche attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 for Bardiche dmg: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Henrick Bulwark |
Herrick double moves around the building as fast as his stubby legs will carry him.
qwerty71 |
Telos catches up to the monk and cuts him with his bardiche, while Ragnar and the others follow in close pursuit. The monk puts up a noble resistance, never uttering a word and continuing to be aggressive until he is finally cut down by Telos, Ragnar, and Henrick.
COMBAT OVER
The inner courtyard with statues has four sets of stairs, the stairs on the north side head downward, the stairs on the south side head upwards but have crumpled in ruin.
Henrick Bulwark |
"Agreed."
Henrick looks around the statues, to make sure they are all just stone or metal, and then starts to examine the way down.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 (plus 2 for unusual stonework)
Eponine Lokrien Savet |
Eponine quickly checks the monks for anything of value, Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 then follows the others down the stairs, also keeping an eye out.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Paul Daley |
I hate going underground Paul thinks.
He sighs, then follows the others down the stairs into the darkness.
Telos Phane |
Telos, his face bloodied and with a fat lip, hands a wand to N'Neka.
"Would you kindly use this on me," he asks. "Those guys could throw some hard punches!"
Once healed, he thanks the druid and follows the others underground.

The party descends down the stairs and comes into a basement area. This large basement room is set up as a workshop. Four workbenches are covered with odd tools. Three men and one woman work at the benches, each chained in place by a heavy iron collar. There are two bandits in this workroom and one of the bandits looks at the prisoners and yells "GET BACK TO WORK! while the other bandit looks at you all and says..."Leave now. You are not welcome here. Leave before you die."
Paul Daley |
Seeing what appear to be slaves, Paul, a member of Liberty's edge considers assaulting the bandits immediately. But he instead opts to answer the bandit's threat.
First off all, there are six of us and two of you. Maybe you couldn't hear very well down here, but the last group of people to battle us regretted their decision. Paul says with authority as he shows them his bloodied lance.
He continues in a calm, cold, but nonetheless threatening voice.
There are certain things I do not tolerate. Slavery is one of them. If you release the slaves, you may walk out of here alive. If you don't, I want take a good look around you and breathe in deeply, because this room will the last thing you'll ever see.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Ragnar Skarr |
Ragnar moves ahead to get a better look at the insolent bandits. "I couldn't care less about these slaves around here, but people who speak to me like this will pay."
That being said, Ragnar swings his sword at one of the bandits, but misses completely - not encouraging considering his own strong words. Cursing, he resumes a defensive position.

Eponine Lokrien Savet |
Eponine sighs, "Well, I do care about the slaves.
The Alchemist opts to not throw bombs, and instead takes a five foot step, and takes a full defense action.
Ragnar Skarr |
Ragnar laughes as he easily dodges the feeble blows, then slashes again at one of the bandits, cutting a deep wound before moving to the second and literally decapitating him.
Attack+rage+power strike: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Damage+rage+power strike: 2d6 + 12 ⇒ (6, 5) + 12 = 23
If the first one hit, then cleave to the second:
Attack+rage+power strike: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Damage+rage+power strike: 2d6 + 12 ⇒ (2, 6) + 12 = 20
Crit confirm (probably unnecessary)
Attack+rage+power strike: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Damage+rage+power strike: 2d6 + 12 ⇒ (6, 2) + 12 = 20
If both are dead, Ragnar goes out of rage.
Literal fountains of blood splashes around the large man, who turns aside to the slaves. "You're all free - tell whoever you meet that Ragnar Skarr saved your miserable skins and spread the news about what just happened here. Now go!"
Henrick Bulwark |
As it is crazy crowded in here, Henrick is going to try something crazy that I have never tried before.
Henrick yells "On yer left!" as he runs straight through the combat, urgrosh in hand, trying to overrun the far guard and end up flanking him.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Um, wow - ok... if that exceeds the CMD by 5, it will knock him prone, too.
Paul Daley |
If for some reason there's one still alive Paul and Razor leap over the workbench and stab one from behind.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23 to hop the workbench on Razor.
stab: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 1816 + 2 = 18 I assume their dead, but honestly if one is unconscious. Paul won't blink at putting a slaver down permentantly.
Ragnar might be an cocky bastard, but he's good at one he does. If he hurts one of the slaves, this will get ugly fast... I also should thank Eponine
Everyone! help these poor people out of their chains! Do not harm them is that understood! Paul yells to the party.
He then turns to Eponine and whispers his gratitude to the gnome.
I saw you had the chance to throw a bomb chose not to because you were worried it might injure the innocent. You have my eternal gratitude. If there's anything I can do to repay the favor just ask.
Finally. He turns to the slaves.
You're safe now, we're here to free you. If I may ask just one question before you leave. How did you all end up in this horrific place? he says.
qwerty71 |
yeah neither of them are alive. too much carnage from Ragnar. Henrick knocks over a falling dead body and the others save your actions. combat is over.
The four slaves cower in fear. They are chained to the tables still. One of the prisoners holds up his chain for the party to see. He says "We were all captured at different times from different locations. Arcane masters, all of us. This Zamir person uses us to dismantle magic items for him. Unchain us so we can leave this place."
Telos Phane |
Telos nods at the grim efficiency of his companions, then moves to search the messy corpses for a key to the chains or anything else of value.
"Do not fear...we will release you in no time," he says to the slaves. "What more can you tell us of this place? How many more enemies should we expect if we have killed these two and the guards above?"
