"Information is valuable," says N'Neka as a way of reply, "And dead men speak less forthcomingly."

Initiatie, or do our giant warriors have a surprise round following the door's sudden implosion?

MOLG// WOTW// Murder's Mark

was checking to see if any diplomacy efforts actually succeeded first

Liberty's Edge

Razor Male Wolf: Attack Roll + 3, bite attack 1d6+1, CMB +3. free action trip attempt if bite hits. +7 CMB on bite trip attempt. Halfling Cavalier Gendarme 2 & Wolf AC 19, touch 13, flat-footed 16 Initiative +3 Perception -2, Attack roll +6 for MW Lance 1D6+2 doubled when charging, Glaive 1d 8+3, 2H doubled when braced,

Eponine convinced Paul not to go for too much blood. He stands down, I'll stand down.

Ragnar has been impressively containing his bloodlust so far, although in reality he is just waiting for the tiniest excuse before he can paint the room with red.

MOLG// WOTW// Murder's Mark

"You think becoming large is supposed to make me surrender? HA! I have the scepter, I wield enough power to destroy you all! It is you who should surrender to ME!" The man says to the team. He strokes his tiger and the tiger goes from lying down to standing up.

Ragnar shrugs and just says, "You got your choice and made it. Let's see now if you chose correctly". All of a sudden, the barbarian slashes at the man with his massive sword, which became even bigger as a result of the growth spell. Blood splashes across the room.
Attack+rage+power strike+growth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Damage+rage+power strike+growth: 2d6 + 13 ⇒ (1, 2) + 13 = 16
And confirm crit:
Attack+rage+power strike+growth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Damage+rage+power strike+growth: 2d6 + 13 ⇒ (5, 4) + 13 = 22
No crit I guess, and cleave to the tiger:
Attack+rage+power strike+growth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Damage+rage+power strike+growth: 2d6 + 13 ⇒ (4, 6) + 13 = 23

And Ragnar unfortunately finished his daily rages...

As Ragnar begins his rage, Eponine tries to throw a bomb at the tiger, hoping to splash on to the man they want to keep alive enough to remind him to surrender. With luck the bomb should just miss Ragnar's arrival.

to hit touch: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 1) + 4 = 6

Miss Direction: 1d8 ⇒ 3
Splash damage = 6, DC 15 for half

Ragnar has 10ft reach (and being enlarged that might extend even further) so he doesn't have to move from his position to hit both, and therefore he won't be endangered by Eponine's bomb.

And sorry Eponine (and N'Neka) for engaging against your will :( Ragnar was growing tired of the negotiations and the man's unsubmissive response kind of set him loose.

MOLG// WOTW// Murder's Mark

apologies, been in meetings most of the morning
Zamir is stunned when the enlarged barbarian strikes at him with his sword and is cut nearly in half (crit confirmed) and the remains of the man fall to the ground lifeless...to add insult to injury Eponine throws a bomb at the falling corpse. The tiger roars and moves next to the corpse of its master licking his hand.

Quite all right, Ragnar, I was expecting that!

"Paul, you have a better chance than my sling," says N'Neka, and steps back to ensure his path to the tiger.

No good option as N'Neka would be firing into melee at a target with at least some cover.

Telos nods. "We did our very best to convince him...there was nothing else we could have done," the warrior says.

He begins a search of the area. assuming the tiger doesn't attack us...it seemed to be doing other things. Will take 20 on the search

"If we do not have to kill the tiger--it has no doubt been enslaved as well," says the druid.

What an imbecile. Paul thinks He threatens a gigantic barbarian 10 feet away from him. What did he expect was going to happen?

Paul sheathes his lance, takes out his Bardiche and turns to N'Neka.

I'm not going to go out of my way to attack a tiger. That said, if it tries to charges me... I can't negotiate with it. He says to the druid.

Ragnar goes out of rage, and looks quite surprised. "Umm... I didn't expect that to end that quickly..." He then turns around and doesn't really know what to say. Turning to the surviving tiger, he points out "I can try to take him or we can release him. It's a shame to kill such a noble beast if we can avoid it."

Let's leave the tiger in its cage for now. We should search for that scepter he talked about. You know, that thing he said will make us all bow to him. Paul says with a laugh.

And we might as search what's left of his body. Maybe something useful is still salvageable from that Sword/Explosion combo.

MOLG// WOTW// Murder's Mark

A quick search of the area reveals stolen items plus his office holds a box of components from disassembled magic items the slave wizards disassembled. Paperwork on the desk reveals how Zamir used the wizards to disassemble magic items so he could harness the magic power for other uses. These components can be reassembled into the Pharaoh’s Crook of Order by the wizards from the workshop area. The tiger stays next to the dead body. Eventually the tiger gets bored with he lot of you and leaves through a tunnel behind the curtain.

Eponine politely suggests the group look behind the curtain, "although, I should warn you, on occasion there are crazy wizards lurking behind curtains."

any decent loot? or at the least, a key to the slaves shackles?

Usually very decisive, Paul has a very confused look on his face.

So um... should we follow the tiger? Paul says to the party.

Never thought I'd utter a sentence like that. Paul thinks to after the words leave his mouth.

Paul looks to Eponine.

Perhaps Nix could slip in behind the curtain and tell us what he sees? he says. If not, I totally understand. I wouldn't ask Razor to go in alone.

MOLG// WOTW// Murder's Mark

Paul manages to find keys for the shackles. There is no one in the escape tunnel.

Eponine shrugs, and asks Nix to help search the hall. Upon learning it is empty, Eponine suggests the party backtrack, taking all the time needed to thoroughly examine anything of interest they may discover. Upon freeing the slaves, Eponine kindly asks the same if they would be willing to identify the items and components discovered in office, and whether it is possible for the wizards to re-assemble the broken items.

The party frees the shackled arcanists and in their gratitude the wizards work to fix the Pharaoh’s Crook of Order which turns out to be a magical morningstar. The party retrieves the fake scepter and accompanies the wizards to safety and news of the demise of Zamir reaches the Thakur of Jalmeray who tells Venture-Captain Mihir that he owes the Society a debt of gratitude and that all of Jalmeray’s citizens will know of what the PCs have done to stop a great bandit lord from his marauding ways.
