Nothing from what you found implied Astral Extraction has hired an assassin before. Normally they hire "private security" to make threats or break up strikes and it works. The Downside Kings would have no problem being assassins if hired to do that. Now all of that being said, Astral Extraction would probably not come after you guys (publicly) because they wouldn't want it to be public knowledge or admit the rumor of they hired the Downside Kings.

E1518 |

maybe we should go back to the stairfinder building and speak with that guy that gave us the job forgot his name and its like 3 pages back lol. give him the info we have found maybe starfinder have connections with the collective or maybe even with Astral. he did ask us to keep him in the loop. this way we are at least checking in and maybe get something out of it. just a thought

Dahlia Morgandanger |

"I still think we need to make contact with the Level 21 Gang and find out if they will offer any information. But if you all want to go to the armada first, I'll tag along." Dahlia offers absentmindedly after she processes all the info.

LoreMaster GM |

We can do both the contacting Chiskisk and Hardscrabble at the same time, just make sure you make it clear who you are talking to. For contacting Chiskisk, tell me what you say to them and I will respond accordingly. For contacting the Hardscrabble Collective, they hire an agent company on the station and the agent is who accepts employment. He is the only listed contact for the Hardscrabble Collective. If you intend to talk with him, what do you say? Lastly, if you plan to hunt out the Level 21 Gang, it would only be logical to start looking on level 21. So make me perception checks when you are ready to head down there. The check is to find their base of operations.
Feel free to ask any question.

Dahlia Morgandanger |

Dahlia is ready to go to level 21 to talk to the gang. She welcomes any company. "My plan is to go down to level 21 and find a common area like a market or cafe and simply ask passers-by if they are members of the level 21 gang. No one will say yes, but I'm certain the gang will hear about a strange lady asking about them and come investigate."
I'll hold off on rolls until I know who is coming with me

Huxtable |

not sure if dylan is that much of a jerk but our in did require that we prove we are members of the society to get that discount and I don't remember us doing that.

Huxtable |

Hux will a company dahlia to level 21 and bring jib to provide some protection.

Katara Lonewalker |

Katara will also accompany Dahlia to level 21.

Alim of the Qawiu Aldhihin Clan |

Alim takes a moment before replying to Dahlia's plan.
"I am willing to go. I already said I am ready to fight the Astral Extraction if that what it comes to in order to restore balance for Kreel's death. I only ask that we be sensible in how we go about trying to locate the gang. Whether that's all of us asking around on Level 21, or just half of us while the other half lays low, I don't mind either way. I just know history has shown that if we go in guns blazing, it will end poorly for all of us.Do you think we should reach out to Chiskisk to see if he has any connections before we head there? So we aren't endangering ourselves more than need be?...Though this gang does seem the more reasonable out of the two... Just make sure you keep your belongings close, so nothing walks while we are down there. "
Alim looks down for a moment and makes a sort of snorting noise one makes when remembering something funny, but no one else gets any context.
"...The enemy of my enemy is my friend... isn't that something... Well, let's go make friends."

LoreMaster GM |

it sounded like everyone was interested in going down to find the gang. I need perception checks from everyone

E1518 |

Im going to lay low keeping you guys in sight but blending in. Seeing what I can pick up from watching and listening to people around you guys. perception check : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Huxtable |

Hux sticks close to jib and walks looking around nervously.
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Katara Lonewalker |

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Katara wanders level 21 keeping an eye out for possible gang members.

LoreMaster GM |

As you wander around the Level 21 area, you notice that the economy and area is flourishing far more than expected in an area that has been written off as a slum. You also notice the lack of security down here. You have passed only one guard the whole time and he did not seem the most competent.
Having the patch Tool took from the downed gang member allows you guys to easily recognize graffiti of the gang all around the area. The one building that stands out to Katara and Dahlia (who noticed the patch from the time he entered the slum) the most is a building named "Mama Fats". It is a small grocery store, but the sign on the door shows a fat halfling female with a small Level 21 Gang patch. After surveying the area, this seems like the most likely place for the gang to have their hideout.
I will leave it to you on how you conduct the next step.

Dahlia Morgandanger |

Dahlia enters the grocery store and scans for the fat halfling on the sign. In the absence of the proprietor, she speaks with the clerk.
"My name is Dahlia Morgandanger, I am looking for sweets and information, and I am willing to pay for both."
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

Huxtable |

Hux shyly follows dahlia with jib at his side still on the lookout for potential threats.
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

E1518 |

Tool hooks back up with the group before they go into the shop. Tool walks in with them but hangs toward the rear of the group. Tool checks the place out cautiously eyeballing the people around the shop all the doorways any visible exits. Tool is vary cautious. perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Katara Lonewalker |

Katara follows the group in behind Hux, looking out for any possible enemies. Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 5

LoreMaster GM |

The clerk and Mama Fat are one in the same. She is chubby, slightly older than expected, halfling woman. She is not wearing a patch like she is on the sign but she seems armed and while she tries to give the impression of being sweet and nonviolent, Dahlia notices her movements and stance keep her in tactical position the whole time.
When Dahlia speaks, Well sweety, I believe I can provide you with one and the other, it would depend on what you are looking for. I have plenty of candies and such and also home baked desserts. Nobody makes a better apple turnover than Mama Fat. For the information, that is a dangorues request down in these parts. What are you looking for in information, hun?
As the group watches for danger, they see many people walking around with weapons holstered but no one seems to even notice the group. There is no perceived danger here.

Dahlia Morgandanger |

Settling in with an Apple pastry, Dahlia tells the story of their arrival. The death of Kreel and their desire to sort things out. Concluding with,
"I knew our options were to poke around for days, maybe months, or to come to the Level 21 Gang and see if they would help us. We are new around here, but that can have a certain value to it." she finishes, licking sticky fingers.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Huxtable |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Hux buys some small candys and slips them one by one into his mouth between words we are reasonable people and we only want to see this matter resolved. We went looking for any type of trouble we just want to see if we can come to an understanding and exchange information.
diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 14

E1518 |

Tool remains quiet knowing he still isn't the best dealing with people he lets others do the talking. assist Dahlia's Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Alim of the Qawiu Aldhihin Clan |

Alim adds whatever he can to corroborate Dahlia's story to Mama Fat, and fills in any details that may have been left out, making sure that Mama Fat understands just how much Kreel meant to our group, and that we only wish to go after the Downtown Kings and the Extraction.

LoreMaster GM |

She looks questioningly at Dahlia, about to speak when Hux joins in trying to reassure her that you guys don't mean any trouble. Then Alim goes into detail about the mission. Mama Fat interrupts him Hey, hey, hey. I don't need to know all that. I make it my job to not know what is going on. So leave me out of that. Look, I believe that you guys are trying to do go things, and I believe the Level 21 Gang does good things so I will help you out. I know nothing and I like it that way.
She reaches from under her counter for a slip of paper and a pen and sets it on the counter. So here is what I need you to do. Write your request for a meeting on this slip. Explain why you want to meet. And either your comm unit number or a place for them to drop a message off for you. If they want to meet, they will contact you. Make sense?
Decide who is writing the note and write out what will be on the note. No rolls needed, just type what you plan to leave them.

E1518 |

Tool again hangs back knowing there are people better suited to this task then he is. I think the comm unit number would be the safer way to go

Huxtable |

Hux backs away from the paper I've never really written anything by hand before and this seems like a dangerous time to start.

Dahlia Morgandanger |

Dahlia is willing to write the note if no one else jumps at the chance.
To whom it may concern,
My name is Dahlia Morgandanger, I and my associates have been tasked with investigating an incident in the hangers yesterday. We are not associated with station security, and are in search of information only. We request a meeting with the leaders of the level 21 gang. We are comfortable meeting at Mamma Fats, or another location of your choosing.
To reach us, please leave word at Mamma Fats, and we will return tomorrow by noon to retrieve your reply.
Sincerely, Dahlia

E1518 |

we should go get the proof we are part of starfinder well we wait to hear from them and bring it to the hotel. It seams like we are going to be here awhile.

LoreMaster GM |

The halfling points to a box for Dahlia to put her note in. That is my tenants mailbox. If you have some mail to deliver, place it in there. He checks frequently.
You arrive at the Lorespire Complex to gain your identification from the society. Chiskisk happens to be out and about when you arrive.
Hello friends! How is the investigation going? Does it seem to be truly an accident?
If you wanted to talk to Mama Fat a bit longer, you may.

Dahlia Morgandanger |

I am done for today at Mamma Fats
"The investigation is progressing, but it might be unwise to discuss its details before a conclusion is reached" Dahlia says, trying to be personable but discouraging small talk that might reveal too much.

E1518 |

Tool seeing Chiskisk stops and again stands just about at attention. Hi Sir

LoreMaster GM |

They look quizzical at Dahlia, Why would it be unwise to discuss your findings? Have you found something that would make me a suspect in the investigation?
That would be based on sense motive, not perception. I kept your roll but used sense motive instead.
sense motive: 5 + 5 = 10
He seems genuinely confused and concerned.

LoreMaster GM |

I know the process of investigating very well. I can appreciate the process. But I do not understand yours. The only time I, when I was an agent refused to report to my superiors was when I suspected them as not being worthy of rank any more. Chiskisk shakes their head. So if you didn't come to report in, did you just come to borderline accuse me of murdering my own man? Or did something else bring you in today?

Dahlia Morgandanger |

"I apologize if there was disrespect or accusation perceived in my tone, I meant none. Our purpose here today is to acquire proof of our membership in the society to retain the discount offered by the inn we have chosen."
sheesh...aufuly thin skin for a man in his position.

LoreMaster GM |

I have two options for ID. First is temporary member card that will be upgraded to full on if you are offered full membership. I can also offer a skin implant that on your command glows the symbol of the Starfinder Society. You may choose.
Society Subdermal Graft- This implant rests beneath the skin of the palm of one hand. The augmentation can be activated or deactivated mentally as a swift action. Activating the implant causes a rendition of the Starfinder's Society's symbol to glow underneath the skin. This augmentation acts as a mark, letting others know you are a member of the Starfinder Society. It also increases the light level within 5 feet by one step while active.
[ooc] That is the description of the implant. Let me know which you pick [/ooc}]

LoreMaster GM |

No, the color blue because that is the color of symbol. Sorry.

Huxtable |

I'd proffer the badge. I was never too much a fan of things that try to get under my skin

Katara Lonewalker |

I will also take the badge, no messing with these scales.

Alim of the Qawiu Aldhihin Clan |

Alim brings all four hands in front of his face. He takes a moment and looks at each of his hands in depth, taking time to turn each hand over. He takes a brief few moments, looking at each hand from every angle, before replying.
"Chiskisk, I greatly appreciate the offer of options here." He brings his upper two hands closely behind his back shoulders, and drops his left lower one to his side. He raises his right hand and clenches it into a fist, and brings it vertically across his chest. Alim them bows slightly. "But I fear I have not yet earned the honor of being worthy of the implant in my hand. Those of my kind understand that carrying a badge in a more permanent manner means a great honor has been bestowed upon us, and as such, I do not believe myself worthy of that great honor yet." He stands back up, and drops his right hand to his side. "Upon bringing Kreel's murderer to justice, and restoring balance, and upon you recognizing us as worthy to join the Society as full members will I take on such a responsibility and honor."
Alim then shoots a look at Dahlia, and returns to look at Chiskisk. "As for my comrades here, you must understand that we are not all brought up in the same ways. Being raised as a warrior, we were taught that unless we have reason to suspect our superiors of malicious intent, we disclose that which we know."
Alim takes a moment and makes direct eye contact with each of the members of the group, seeing truth in what he is about to say in each of them. "While I believe the misguided human has good intentions, she and the rest of us know that there is little suspicion of you. We have all had a lengthy few days trying to get to the bottom of Kreel's investigation, and we can conclude that so far we all believe this to be a murder investigation. While I don't want to bore you with all the details, and we will most promptly fill you in once everything is done, we can say that we believe the Level 21 gang and the Downside Kings are defending bigger corporations, and we believe that the Astral Extraction to be the primary target of our investigation. We are hopefully our current lead will be of some useful information to us, and that we can successfully restore balance for Kreel's death. At this time, if you have any connections with anyone investigating the Level 21 Gang, if you would be so kind as to ease up on anything for the next 24 hours, that would be helpful. Also, do you know of any potential issues the Society has had with the Level 21 Gang? Having any heads up may prove helpful, especially if they intent on accusing us with something we, as new recruits, may be unaware of."
Alim bows to Chiskisk in an honorable fashion, right arm again in a fist across his chest, and continues. "This is just a brief summary of what we know. I can say that I apologize for Dahlia's presumably rude demeanor, and can assure you that Kreel's murders will be brought to justice. If you require any more information, we will disclose what you require. However, if you do not, we will take our leave and prepare for what tomorrow may bring." With this, Alim stands straight again, and waits for Chiskisk to respond.

Dahlia Morgandanger |

"I was there when the captain's of Gilliam fired on their own men."
Dahlia say without tone, without emotion, staring past the group at the wall.
"I was there when those men reported that there wasn't enough food to last until the pick-up, and I watched them die at the hands of their superiors."
As she continues, she turns away and begins walking back to the inn alone.
"call me rude and misguided if you like. Report what little we know, get your pat on the head, I'll be back at the inn resting."
