Ashia and Rhasadinar:
Your watch goes quietly. The violence of the preceding hours have discouraged any curious animals from sticking around. Partway through your watch, the second dwarf comes out of the trees, glances at the pair of you near the fire, and moves over to Eildrim. He covers his mouth to wake him quietly, then makes a jerking motion with his thumb before retiring to his bedroll away from the fire. For the end of your watch, Eildrim is at the fire near you, trying to make small talk and preening. If you wish to interact with him, please do so in spoilers since the others aren't part of the conversation. We'll keep it short.

Tyhal and Elwin:
Your respective traveling companions wake you up at the appointed hour. You see that the archer Eldrim sits at the fire, looking fairly bored.

As your watch goes on, you can hear the presence of what you presume are normal night forest activity as the animals that would normally hunt this area regain their nerve after the noise of the earlier battle. Or perhaps Yurbin's singing chased them off...

Speaking of the doughty dwarf, about halfway through your watch, Eildrim seems relieved to go and awaken Yurbin for his turn at watch. For the duration of his watch, he alternates between some quieter calisthenics away from the sleepers or marching back and forth to keep himself awake. During the last hour of your watch, there's a bit of a commotion in the trees as a raccoon raids a nest that is apparently not as unoccupied as he might have expected. Other than that, your watch is uneventful. As above, any interaction with your fellow watch-keepers is welcome, but use spoilers, please.

Lalandar and Taleladar:
When Tyhal and Elwin wake you up for your watch, you see that you will share it with the dwarf Yurbin. He seems to be alternating between exercises and marching to keep himself awake.

Shortly after you start your watch, he salutes you before going to wake up the mage Gaelreth for his turn. Gaelreth is much less active - he takes a pass around the clearing every fifteen minutes or so, but spends the rest of the time in his book. He doesn't even look at either of you once he's awake. As the end of his watch (and yours) approaches, he begins to stir up the fire. When he moves to do so, Taleladar notices something...

Taleladar:
You got the highest Perception check, so you get the spoils. One of the rocks in the ring around the fire has shifted as people move through the night and there is a small hollow that no one has noticed previously. When you investigate (You ARE going to investigate, I assume!), you find a small sack in good repair. It cannot have been left here very long. It contains four days' trail rations, a half-full waterskin, and a pouch with 15 sp. Gaelreth raises an eyebrow and nods, "Observant," and returns to his task. You are welcome to try to converse with your watch partners during the night. Please use spoilers if you do so since the others won't be involved in the conversation.

The morning is crisp and clear and Gaelreth has built the fire up when you awaken, so any campfire cooks have something to work with.

Female Elf Oracle [HP 9, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4; CMD 11, AC 13, touch 11, Init +1, flat-footed 12, Perc +5]

conversation with Gaelreth:
Who does this belong to? If he shrugs to say he doesn't know, Talaledar will store it away before the others wake as an insurance policy for future use. Diplomacy for Convo: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Taleladar:
He shakes his head. "Not ours. Lucky you."

Spellcraft on bag: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 cast detect magic to make sure there isn't anything special about the bag. [ooc] Since my roll sucked, I will bring it to my brother if I detect magic on it so he can try and identify it. I'll roll for him to be safe.

Female Elf Oracle [HP 9, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4; CMD 11, AC 13, touch 11, Init +1, flat-footed 12, Perc +5]

DM:
Question, is there anyway I could tell by the food or by the bag using some sort of knowledge roll to try and determine the origin of the bag? Knowledge: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 That's a knowledge nature roll. I can change the bonus as necessary off that roll.

Talaledar:
The bag emits no magical aura. It shows some wear, especially on the bottom like someone drug on the ground. It's a bit grimy around the "neck" where a short length of rope tied it shut, likely transfer from someone's hands as they carried it. Pretty unremarkable, but as you examine it, you notice two dots, rust in color, on one side. It smells faintly of horses and manure - perhaps it was once used to transfer feed for an animal, but it's much smaller than you would expect for that purpose.

Female Elf Oracle [HP 9, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4; CMD 11, AC 13, touch 11, Init +1, flat-footed 12, Perc +5]

I'm done with convo and ready for the day then

Yurbin and his team eat a quick cold breakfast from their trail rations as they pack. Eildrim is slower, obsessing about his hair some more. Gaelreth, having had last watch, is quickly ready before sitting and meditating with his back to the rising sun.

Dolral quickly assembles his pack, hefts it onto his back, and disappears into the trees. Yurbin efficiently packs, but is not rushed about it, making small talk with your group about the temperature and the weather.

When Dolral reappears on the edge of the clearing, the warrior is ready and hoists his pack onto his shoulders, as well. Eildrim loads up, as well, before murmurring something to Gaelreth, who quickly stands and shoulders his relatively small bag.

A salute from Yurbin and a jaunty gesture of similar nature from Eildrim, and they are gone.

Special precautions or actions before you head back? To clarify, the keep is almost an hour away along a rarely-used track in the woods. It will take longer, of course, if you choose to avoid the road, such as it is. (This is not the same road that Ashia and Elwin were taking before last night's meeting.)

Male Elf Magus (Bladebound) [HP 38, Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +5, CMD 19/16, Init +3, AC 16, touch 13, flat-footed 13, Perc +8]

I assume that you will have let us have our prep time already? Or do we need to comment this also?

So we didn't see much on our original approach. I see no reason why it will be different now. I feel no reason as to avoid it now. He gets up and stretches a bit and grabs his pack, ready to travel towards the Keep.

Male Elf Rogue (1) [HP 9/9 | Fort +0, Ref +4, Will +1 | AC 15/12/13 | Perc +7 | Stealth +5 | Init +4]

"Lead the way," the elf motions for the rest of the group. "Ashia and I can follow, as you know where we are going. Just let me know once we get to where you have not been before, as I can take point and keep an eye out for the sorts objects that what to slice us, dice us, and make us go splat."

Elwin can take point when we are worried about traps. Until then, he will walk behind Ashia.

Rolls:

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 -> For 1st hour of walking

Female Human Witch (1) [HP 7/7 | Fort +0, Ref +3, Will +3 | AC 13/13/10 | Perc +1 | Init +5]

"I will follow behind you guys."

Ashia generaly wants to be second to last in line (if single file), middle if 2x2x2 (We are a six person party right?)

Rolls:

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11 -> Ashia's 1st hour check
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 -> Timber's 1st hour check

Male Elf Magus (Bladebound) [HP 38, Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +5, CMD 19/16, Init +3, AC 16, touch 13, flat-footed 13, Perc +8]

Walk:
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Lalandar is obviously feeling at ease as he walks along, not watching out very well. When we get to the gate, I'm curious if you can detect a trap there. We noticed that all the travel seemed to stay towards the edge.

Female Elf Oracle [HP 9, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4; CMD 11, AC 13, touch 11, Init +1, flat-footed 12, Perc +5]

"I will travel in the middle, if that is acceptable."

DM:
1d20 ⇒ 11d20 ⇒ 19

Yes, you have had time to prepare or pray for spells or other morning rituals necessary to recharge your abilities.

2 x 2 x 2 makes sense to me. Who's where? Tyhal would like to be in the front rank and his sister would prefer the second. Ashia has indicated a preference for the back, possibly with Elwin. Would Lalandar walk front with Tyhal and have his sister in the middle rank?

As the party moves through the woods, their natural grace - and Ashia's unnatural connection to natural spaces - allow them to move through the undergrowth with minimum disturbance to the fauna that surrounds them.

Lalandar starts to share with the newcomers that they are nearly at their destination when Tyhal puts a hand out and a finger to his lips. Then everyone hears it - something large moving through the brush alongside the road. The sound approaches and you have sufficient time to take two rounds' worth of actions, if you so choose.

Male Elf Rogue (1) [HP 9/9 | Fort +0, Ref +4, Will +1 | AC 15/12/13 | Perc +7 | Stealth +5 | Init +4]

When the group reaches the front gate, Elwin will stick to the side as instructed, but will try to see if anything stands out.

We can save this post if something happens on our travels. I just thought I would get it out of the way.

Rolls:
Perception Trapfinding: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 1 = 16 -> Looking for trap
Disable Device: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 = 16 -> If found, disable trap
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 -> If needed (hope not, fingers crossed)

Female Human Witch (1) [HP 7/7 | Fort +0, Ref +3, Will +3 | AC 13/13/10 | Perc +1 | Init +5]

While walking, Ashia seems very quiet and not talkative except for some collection of words that spill out of her mouth just about every minute.

And when looking at her, her eyes keep moving all round the path and to its sides. Her head on the swivel as she is watching out for anything approaching.

She is casting Detect Magic as they walk along, and looking for anything off of the group that is magical as they walk.

Male Elf Magus (Bladebound) [HP 38, Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +5, CMD 19/16, Init +3, AC 16, touch 13, flat-footed 13, Perc +8]

Do we want to try the climb check again or enter the building and clear the basement like we planned before?

Female Elf Oracle [HP 9, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4; CMD 11, AC 13, touch 11, Init +1, flat-footed 12, Perc +5]

Rolling her eyes at her brother, Brother, I'd rather their not be anything behind us. Plus, that basement could have some key. Also, you're forgetting the fact that those goblins came from somewhere. Maybe we should see if we can find their origin?

tracking:

Male Elf Magus (Bladebound) [HP 38, Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +5, CMD 19/16, Init +3, AC 16, touch 13, flat-footed 13, Perc +8]

Turning to his sister, You are probably right sister. Ok, let's take a look.

Tracking:
Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
You could be right sister. I'm not 100% sure though.

Please see my edit six posts up.

Female Human Witch (1) [HP 7/7 | Fort +0, Ref +3, Will +3 | AC 13/13/10 | Perc +1 | Init +5]

As Ashia walks along with the group, she reaches around and pulls her light crossbow from her pack, making sure it is ready to fire in a moment's notice.

She then steps off the path and tries to hide among the foliage as she moves. Sensing her tention, Timber jumps from her pack, where he was resting and darts off into the underbrush.

Timber is staying close enough to the group that he can follow, but far enough away to stay out of combat. If he gets threatened, he will return to Ashia as fast and as safe as possible. Otherwise he will return when the tension is released.

Rolls:
Stealth: 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 3 = 27 -> Ashia's Movement
Stealth: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26 -> Timber's Movement

Male Elf Rogue (1) [HP 9/9 | Fort +0, Ref +4, Will +1 | AC 15/12/13 | Perc +7 | Stealth +5 | Init +4]

Elwin grabs his blade, and turns to Ashia to tell her to hide, but she was not beside him. He quickly looks around the group for her and realizes with a smile, that she is already hidden.

"I think we should take it slow. Maybe even let this thing pass." he whispers. "What do you guys think?"

Elwin will start to stealth if the group decides to hide or move quietly. Otherwise he travels on until he can see it then he stealth to start getting into a flank. (and fail miserably)

Rolls:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 -> To hide while moving

My bad - the sounds are coming from the left. Which side of the path are you choosing to hide on?

Arcanist 1 [ HP 8/8 | AC 13 Tch 13 FF 10 | Fort +2* Ref +3* Will +4* | CMD 14 | Init +3 | Perc +4 | Effects: ]

Having to admit the human's preparations are wise, Rhasadinar moves to the left side of the road and readies herself to meet a potential threat.

Readied action to cast mage armor.

Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Slayer 1 [ HP 11/11 | AC 18 Tch 13 FF 15 | Fort +2* Ref +5* Will +1* | CMD 18 | Init +7 | Perc +7, darkvision | Effects: ]

Tyhal nods in response to Elwin's suggestion, "It does not sound like goblins to me, more likely an animal. A big one. My choice is to give it room and let it pass by."

That said, he readies his bow and confirms that his sword will slide from the sheath should it come to that. And waits.

Male Elf Rogue (1) [HP 9/9 | Fort +0, Ref +4, Will +1 | AC 15/12/13 | Perc +7 | Stealth +5 | Init +4]

Elwin moves to the left, inline with the rest of the group while using the rest of his above actions.

Rolls:
Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Female Human Witch (1) [HP 7/7 | Fort +0, Ref +3, Will +3 | AC 13/13/10 | Perc +1 | Init +5]

Ashia moves to the right as to be in the back line, while hiding.

Rolls:
Init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Male Elf Magus (Bladebound) [HP 38, Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +5, CMD 19/16, Init +3, AC 16, touch 13, flat-footed 13, Perc +8]

Rolls:
stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Still not really watching, Lalandar is very slow to react but does move towards the right side of the path. As he goes, he stumbles slightly making more noise than anyone would prefer. As he goes, he will prepare his rapier, ready to attack if the creature shows any ill will towards the group.

Female Elf Oracle [HP 9, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4; CMD 11, AC 13, touch 11, Init +1, flat-footed 12, Perc +5]

Rolls:
Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Knowledge nature to identify creature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
With her lack of sight, Talaledar is as slow as her brother reacting to the noise. She pauses and doesn't watch her feet as she tries to identify the creature by the sounds coming from it. This leads to her making even more noise than her brother. She will prepare her staff as she tries to become a part of the foliage around them on the right side of the path.

DM:

1d20 ⇒ 19

The noises slow and stop as the siblings stumble. A very growl followed by a "huffing" sound can be heard. After a pause, the noises begin again, more slowly.

Talaledar:
You are quite confident that you are hearing a bear. You believe that, unless it's a sow with a cub, the group has nothing to worry about as long as they stay back and let it pass.

Noises to the left

On the left side: Rhasadinar, Elwin

On the path: Tyhal

On the right side: Ashia, Lalandar, Talaledar

Resolution to come

About ten feet from where Tyhal waits, a large ursine head emerges from the underbrush and focuses on the elf.

DM:

1d20 ⇒ 7

Its eyes pass over and focus on each member of the party. Only Ashia and her familiar escape its notice. It huffs once more, then roars, exposing an impressive array of teeth.

It moves across the path and into the undergrowth on the other side and disappears.

Female Human Witch (1) [HP 7/7 | Fort +0, Ref +3, Will +3 | AC 13/13/10 | Perc +1 | Init +5]

Ashia looks on from her hiding place, trying to keep a quiet as possible.

Skill Check:
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
What was this? Is it normal around here? Do we need to worry about more?

Female Elf Oracle [HP 9, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4; CMD 11, AC 13, touch 11, Init +1, flat-footed 12, Perc +5]

Obviously a little shaken by the close encounter, Talaledar cowers back into the trees around them.

Perception:
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 Talaledar thinks to herself, is it gone. She tries her hardest to discern if it truly has moved on.

Male Elf Magus (Bladebound) [HP 38, Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +5, CMD 19/16, Init +3, AC 16, touch 13, flat-footed 13, Perc +8]

Lalandar isn't as outwardly shaken but he does appear shocked at the size of the creature.

Perception:
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

The party waits for the sounds to fade in the distance, then wait a little more. The creature does not appear to be returning.

Ashia:
Now that you've seen it, it's obvious that it was a grizzly bear, probably slightly larger than average. They are largely solitary creatures unless they have young or are mating. You feel like it deserves respect, but you need not fear it.

Slayer 1 [ HP 11/11 | AC 18 Tch 13 FF 15 | Fort +2* Ref +5* Will +1* | CMD 18 | Init +7 | Perc +7, darkvision | Effects: ]

Tyhal moves to where the bear disappeared after the sounds have faded, listening intently.

"I think it's gone. Let's keep going in case it returns."

Female Human Witch (1) [HP 7/7 | Fort +0, Ref +3, Will +3 | AC 13/13/10 | Perc +1 | Init +5]

Ashia suddenly appears behind Elwin with Timber in her arms. "That one seemed bigger then they normally are, but we should be fine. Just keep an eye out for its young. We don't want to be anywhere near them as the mom will defend them."

She looks over to Tyhal as he speaks, and then back to Elwin and continues in her soft voice, "I agree. Lets keep moving.

Male Elf Rogue (1) [HP 9/9 | Fort +0, Ref +4, Will +1 | AC 15/12/13 | Perc +7 | Stealth +5 | Init +4]

Elwin's eyes still large from the size of the bear, jumps slightly at the soft sound of Ashia's voice. Looking over at her as she talks, he turns to the group, "I agree. Lets go."

Female Elf Oracle [HP 9, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4; CMD 11, AC 13, touch 11, Init +1, flat-footed 12, Perc +5]

As they begin walking, Talaledar turns to the group, I agree with.. Ashia wasn't it? It shouldn't be a worry for us right now but just in case, let us make some space between us.

Male Elf Magus (Bladebound) [HP 38, Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +5, CMD 19/16, Init +3, AC 16, touch 13, flat-footed 13, Perc +8]

I assume once we get to the Keep, assuming no more surprises, you will reprise what we discussed earlier?

Lalandar: Are you referring to descriptions and what have you? If you wish to relate what Lalandar and Talaledar have learned in-character, I would be happy to follow your lead with Tyhal and Rhasadinar.

Of course, your characters might prefer to let the new folks checking things out for themselves to see how observant they are...

It doesn't take the six adventurers much longer until the shape of the keep becomes visible in the trees. Before I walk you up to the front door, does anyone have actions they want to take? Consider yourself far enough away to likely be unseen from the keep due to foliage - you can really just make out the outline and then because the structure is quite large.

Female Elf Oracle [HP 9, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4; CMD 11, AC 13, touch 11, Init +1, flat-footed 12, Perc +5]

Talaledar tries her hardest to perceive anything new around the keep but she is squinting much worse than usual.

Rolls:
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Talaledar will try to perceive anything new or any movement at all from her position.

Male Elf Magus (Bladebound) [HP 38, Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +5, CMD 19/16, Init +3, AC 16, touch 13, flat-footed 13, Perc +8]

Obviously trying to make up for his mistakes earlier, Lalandar is very keen to be ready for what might be ahead.

Rolls:
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Trying to do the same as sister

You are too far from the keep for Talaledar to see it due to her clouded vision, but there is really too much between you and the keep for make out any details. I wanted to pause here in case there were actions you wanted to take.

The area around the keep is quiet. Some noise from animals - less than might be considered normal - is all you hear.
