Mrachni sets his teeth, draws his sword, and reaches out to touch Harlbrount on his shoulder. 5' step north-west, tap Harlbrount as a standard action. For the next 10 rounds, at the beginning of his turn Harlbrount can select one of the following bonuses: +10 feet to base land speed, +1 dodge bonus to AC, +1 insight bonus on attack rolls, or a +1 luck bonus on saving throws.

Darius studies the beast as it approaches and focuses on the weapon in its meaty grip. He considers, for a moment, the brutality such a creature must be capable of and shudders.

”I’ll try to disarm it”, he offers. "Coax it closer."

Darius delays.

Grease has a short range, and the minotaur is about 80 feet away currently.

I reaaaally hope that fact doesn't change what your plan of action was going to be.

Janira moves into the brush, drawing her light crossbow and shouting to you guys as she moves.

"While I appreciate the help, I still think the cave is your best bet. If you are going to stay out and help, keep away is probably our best bet. So lets make the best of it."

Harlbrount nods at Mrachni and Darius. Coax it closer....I feel like the mouse being dangled in front of the serpent.

Harl tenses his muscles and seems to take on a feline grace. Moving twenty feet to the south, he fires another arrow at the minotaur. Come on you cow-headed fool!

Do we know what's in her bag? Does anything jump out to me about the cave entrance? Anyway we could use it to our advantage?

How deep is the stream?

Charging it doesn't do much to lure it closer...

Patience, Harl is an experienced hunter of beasts...perhaps a soon to dead one, but hey, just trying to make myself a closer target than the halfling.

The backpack is closed but she did pull an alchemist's fire out of it earlier. It should contain various useful supplies but might take a moment to sort through.

Stream is about 5 feet deep, details are in the terrain notes spoiler from my post at the beginning of combat. The cave entrance in fairly narrow and the minotaur would have to squeeze through the entrance but would be fine after that if it came to that.

Harlbrount hits with another arrow, causing the cow man to stomp his left hoof and snort.

Wolverine added, I had completely forgotten about it.

I did too.

I fixed the map to allow editing. Also moved you slightly less further south due to difficult terrain.

No problem, as I realized I miscounted and was closer than I wanted to be.

Gwynbel considers his options, and moves next to the cave wall near the entrance (northwest corner), all while reloading his sling.

Once there, he peers into the cave entrance looking for anything strange and to make sure the contents of the bag haven't spilled.

Perception to see down cave: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Can’t mess with a map right now.

Darius’s eye go wide in surprise as the kellid man and his pet rush toward the brute.

Swallowing his fear, the young tielfing moves closer with a spell on his lips.

Move forward and ready to grease his weapon.

Darius closes a bit with the minotaur and readies a grease. I moved you on the map.

Gwynbel reloads and checks out the cave entrance and bag. With low-light vision you can see about 30 feet into the cave before it is engulfed in darkness. Nothing seems particularly suspicious about it.

Janira's bag contains several small pockets on the side that are conveniently labeled.

Move action do get an item from the pack, and it's right in front of you now.

The Minotaur presses forward delayed only momentarily by the fast moving stream like the mighty beast he has. Despite Darius's best attempt, the Minotaur manages to hold onto his axe.

While not quite in range of you yet, the minotaur does have an impressive 10ft reach with his rather large axe.

Idea! To the discussion page! I'm pausing time. :p

I would actually prefer a bit less lengthy tactical discussion during combat then we're currently having Cheapy. Your characters unfortunately do not have the ability to pause.

"Janira! What's in the glue pouch!? Anything useful?"

Janira shouts back "A Tanglefoot bag!"

Mrachni sheathes his sword and draws his bow, preparing to fire on the creature.

"Everyone! Get ready to run!"

OK, that's pushing what I could say in 6 seconds.

Mrachni swaps around weapons.

Janira will take a shot as the Minotaur with her light crossbow from the brush and then reload. The shot skins the minotaur, doing minimal damage and not drawing its attention

Does stepping backward provoke? Wasn't quite sure based on your previous description.

The minotaur is currently 15ft away and just out of reach. The square to your north is difficult but the square to your NE is not. I also drew a quick border of the underbrush on your guys side.

Nevermind, I was thinking wrong.

Lowering his bow, Harl begins to recite a plea to the land. A snowball appears in his hand and he throws it at the minotaur.

Ranged Touch Attack, Inspire, War Mind Animal Aspect: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 17
Rime Snowball!, Inspire: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 DC 13 Fort or staggered for a round and if it hits, entangled for a round.

After throwing the snowball, Harl steps back northeast and orders his wolverine to attack.

I read about using this spell in a Chronicle about a bearded half-fiend, who used such a spell. I hope to meet this wise Kuraishimo and congratulate him on such a formulation.

Meanwhile, the wolverine moves in and attacks the minotaur.

Harlbrount's snowball clips The Minotaur. Causing entangled, but not staggered.

The wolverine ducks under the minotaur's blow as it closes and delivers a nasty looking bite. Edit: Added the 2 extra damage from rage.

With the beast distracted, Darius chants the same spell again. He ends with a snap of his fingers, conjuring grease below the minotaur this time.

Gwynbel digs through the glue compartment and pulls out the slightly sticky bag-within-the-bag. After tossing lightly in the air and re-catching it, he moves 20' to the southwest, ready to throw the tanglefoot bag at the minotaur.

Gwynbel grabs a tanglefoot bag and closes a bit.

The Minotaur lets out a frustrated roar and rises to his hooves, the Wolverine getting in a nice bite as the opportunity presents itself.

The Minotaur swings at the wolverine nipping at it's heels but does not connect.

The minotaur is beginning to tire from his wounds, but is still looking quite ferocious. No game effect, just adding description

Mrachni moves to get a clear shot at the beast, lining up and releasing the shot a bit too hastily. He shakes his head as he reloads. Come on, you can do better. For her!

Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Mrachni lets loose an arrow, it's a little high, a little to the left, but because of the frost chill the Minotaur is unable to dodge and takes another arrow.

Janira keeps shouting words of encouragement. Including ones suggesting you may want a little bit of extra space away from that beast.

She follows it up with a glitter dust on the minotaur who unfortunately manages to avoid getting any in his eyes, but fortunately now looks fabulous.

She then repositions herself behind a sapling, still far enough in the brush to avoid being charged.

The frost then finishes melting from the minotaur.

Out of spells, Darius rushes to the elf's side.

I think he just grabbed the tanglefoot bag, as grabbing the bag would have required another action btw.

Harlbrount moves back fifteen feet and lets another arrow fly at the minotaur.

Gwynbel moves up and tosses the tanglefoot bag, this time assured who he is.

Tanglefoot bag, IC, -2 range, +1d6 inspiration: 1d20 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (6) = 9
Duration if hit: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5
Miss direction: 1d8 ⇒ 1

The rules state when determining where it lands, rolling a 1 means it falls short, and is closest to you. Due to the angle I'm at, does that mean it actually landed in the minotaur's top right square?

I can give you a reason for why it should, using unit circles and the Always Round Down rule :p

Amusingly enough tanglefootbags are not splash weapons and don't scatter. But a 9 is good enough to hit the Minotaur's touch AC anyway.

Gwynbel tosses a tanglefoot bag at the minotaur... and hits! The minotaur of course manages to avoid being glued to the floor, but is once again entangled.

This time the minotaur finds the wolverine in the grass, and connects once with a vicious blow, adrenaline the only thing keeping it up before a second axe blow followed by a celebratory gore ends the life of Harlbrount's faithful companion.

Darius heads back toward the melee, pulling the flask labeled 'fire' as he does.

Mrachni takes aim and quickly fires another arrow at the creature before retreating toward the cave.

Harlbrount draws a sharp intake of breath and his shoulders slump a little as his worst fears come true. A single tear traces a path down his cheek as the Kellid stares at the horned beast with hatred in his eyes.

Darius: it appears to be an alchemist's fire. I moved you right behind Gwynbel, feel free to reposition yourself if you'd rather be elsewhere.

Mrachni retreats a bit while firing an arrow wide. Janira continues to inspire courage while hitting the minotaur with a bolt (thanks to entangle!) before reloading.

Darius gets an alchemist's fire and approaches.

The Minotaur's morale seems to finally be broken, as it looks to flee!
