The man looks really angry at Aroden. "Why bother telling you? You already know my name, you already know who I sold the book to and you already know where he lives! I don't know anything else. Stop with this pretending to be a god crap and either kill me or let me go! I know nothing else about your damned book! That comment I made earlier about 'it would take the gods themselves to get more out of me' was hyperbole because I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ELSE! You don't actually have to pretend to bring gods here!"

Thanks to the oread's sudden onset death syndrome, he has a lot of scrolls and potions that he hasn't used yet.
The oread has 3 potions, 3 scrolls, a wand, and a magic chain shirt, along with a masterwork quarterstaff, a dagger, a shortbow with 20 arrows, and a holy symbol of Nethys.
Each guard has a pair of potions, a magical cloak, 2 alchemist fire, a breastplate, a mwk flail, a mwk guisarme, a composite longbow (+3 Str) with 20 arrows and an antitoxin.

For those that can detect magic, that's 8 rolls for the oread, and 3 rolls for the guards.

Also from searching the oread, you can confirm that he is dead, along with the blue guard. The others are tied up and knocked unconscious. (I'm presuming you knocked the green one unconscious while he was color sprayed)

Aroden looks at the man and nods solemnly.

"You think I am angry with you, Mortal? You think you should be punished? No, I offer you absolution. You are free and safe to lead your life now. You are freed of the book and whatever terrible secrets it holds," Aroden's eyes dart to Aaroko. "I have taken your burden upon myself so that you might live again, Mortal."

Aroden approaches the man and asks again.

"Are you injured, Mortal? Do you need any more aid from me?"

Aroden seems satisfied with Sal's acceptance.

"Excellent, Mortal. Let's get out of here. We humans were destined to be free."

He addresses the party after the looting is done.

"It seems we have different options before us:

  • Animate the wooden statue: requires a trip to the jungle;
  • Find Rand, starting in the market;
  • I would very much like to see S'Slarn's someone's traps put into use;
  • Finding a defensible position, if not here in the Chapterhouse;
  • Finding a diamond to animate the armor in the Chapterhouse;
  • Finding someone to carry Tony's armor;
  • ...all the while protecting Aaroko and his pouch.
  • Find Sal.
  • Find Aya.
  • Escort Rand back to the Lodge."

Aroden looks around, wondering if the group can decide together what to do next.

"To the jungle?" Aroden asks. "Or we could take the book and return to Absalom."

No wonder you don't always have a good reputation. That guy" pointing at Aroden "scared the living bejeezus out of me with the whole 'I'm Aroden back from the dead' shenanigans. Turning towards Iron Man, he adds "I got nothing on jewels, sorry. Haven't been here that long. Out of my element - much prefer Varisia. That being said, I could help with other merchants in the area if you are looking for anything else. Although if I may ask, you Pathfinders must be pretty powerful if you managed to get one of their fancy metal suits and you're still alive. How'd you do it?"

"I am relearning things that I have forgotten after my death. It seems that with every journey with these Pathfinders I recover another part of my divinity, my power, my knowledge. The clues of what happened to me are all around me...and sometimes I work with these Pathfinders to uncover them," Aroden replies with honestly.

"The book may be a book to the Decemvirate...but to me it might hold the reasons for my death. Or the path I was on before my demise. The Worldwound, the Eye, other omens, they all tie into the prophecy...my future and my past. I will regain myself."

Navi starts poking around, looking for jewelers. It turns out that jewelry is a fierce business in Nantambu, with lots of jewelers all doing business in the city. Navi is able to come up with a pretty big list of jewelers, but with a couple well-placed questions, Aroden is able to narrow it down to the most probably choice and a couple other possible leads if that doesn't work. This process takes about an hour.

Your investigation takes you to a small brick shop, a rarity in the area in that it has a permanent structure. A small wooden sign sways outside with "Uzoma's Jewels" written above a large diamond. He then turns to S'Slarn and says "I don't know what horrible accident happened to you in the Jungle that allowed a snake to walk and talk, but let me tell you how us humans do business. We wait in line. The person in front does his business first, then the person behind the first person does their business, then the person behind them, and the person behind them, and so on and so forth. Welcome to the land of the intelligent, but you and Captain Clanky need to wait your turn. Please do it outside - we would hate to harm such a miracle of nature."

EDIT: Aaroko doesn't detect evil on anyone. He's able to determine that the ruffians are willing to fight, but they would prefer that you just leave them alone. Uzoma is at least hoping that you can knock some sense into them.

Iron Man shakes his head and smiles patronizingly at the man, You really are a piece of work. Let me enlighten you to how the world really works. People with the power make the rules and right now you are severely lacking in power. Now step aside before we show you just how much power you don't have. Aaroko will put a hand on Tony and S'slarn. Gesturing that they should not initiate aggressions. He also takes a moment to look to Aroden.

"Now is not the time to work at converting these people."

So, Iron Man's going to trigger combat. That being said, each of these guys is a commoner 7, so I'm not going to bother running this combat. Just let me know whether you're going to let them surrender, knock them unconscious, or kill them.

Sorry Aaroko I was just going to post that Iron Man would hold back as you tried to talk them out.
I'll be gong non-lethal and letting them surrender. Warning them that they need to learn manners. If The shop keep says they are just thugs I'll tie them up. If she says they work from someone big and bad I'll let them go after making sure they know that it wasn't personal just business. Iron Man will plan to come back and take care of the problem at its source, He doesn't want to start some thing that will cause trouble with the shop keep or with our mission.

Aroden stops his oration to give Aaroko a look.

You think to tell me whom I may preach to, Mortal?

However, that look is interrupted by the combat(?). Aroden will come over and try to keep the humans alive.

"Do not kill them; they may have use to me," Aroden says.

S'slarn is happy to grapple and pin one of them and just let him calm down, if necessary. So yeah, I think the answer is we let them surrender.

With the utmost precision, the lot of you manage to show these guys that picking a fight when it's 2 vs. 6 is not a good idea. As you are swiftly taking them down, Uzoma calls out "Can you not kill them, if possible?" but by that point, the thugs have already surrendered.

The thugs are on the ground sore, still moaning from their recent beating. Meanwhile, Uzoma asks you "So, I heard you were here to do business?"

Aroden looks in from tending the two goons, ready to help with the negotiations if divine influence is needed.

He turns his attention to the goons.

"Remember that it was I, Aroden Reborn, who saved you this day. Remember me in your prayers and when I come again...remember..." Aroden continues to sermon.

Sovereign Court

Uzoma smiles at Navi. "I do, but I hope for your sake you're not the one carrying it." She reaches underneath the counter and brings out a diamond the size of Navi. "If you're looking for something strong enough to enchant armor, this fine jewel will do the trick. And for 'negotiating an extension' for my debt, I can sell it at a discount - 500 gold."

Meanwhile, on the floor, the thugs are starting to gain their mental faculties back, only to see Aroden staring at them.
"Wait a minute - you're a god?"
"He's not a god, he doesn't look like one!"
"What do you expect a god to look like?"
"I'd expect a couple of angels or something."
"Nah, Aroden's the god of humanity. Ain't you learn anything? Obviously he's telling the truth - how else do you think that snake got up talking and walking? He injected some humanity in him!"
This seems to convince the second guy, and the two proceed to stand up and start backing out of the door, bowing and saying "Yes, we'll remember you."
Feel free to interrupt them if you want to hold them here for anything else.

"Wow that is a biggy!" Navi proclaims as she looks at her own reflection in the giant gem.
"One of the bigger ones can carry it. I think 500 gold is a reasonable price. Though we did save you from these silly thugs. We only need the gem for an evening and we can have it returned tomorrow. So how about we lend you 500 gold and you agree to pay it back to us when we return the diamond? Deal?" Navi says and sticks her tiny hand out to shake for a deal.

Aroden smiles as the two thugs see things in a new light. He wishes them well and will remember them in his prayers.

Aroden helps pay for the gem (or takes it out of looted funds) and is ready to move on.

"Do we have time to get to the jungle? Or should we return to the Lodge and begin preparation for the assualt?" Aroden asks, outlining two options.

GM Mars: How much time do we think we have left?

Uzoma thinks for a moment, then adds "Well, if you only need it for a moment, I guess that would be fine."

Sense Motive DC 17:
She doesn't seem happy about making that deal, but she's willing to do it anyway.

Aroden: Well, that's the problem now, isn't it? Certainly you've been cutting off their leads in multiple directions. Perhaps they're taking more time to find be sure of what's happening? Maybe some information gathering is in order?

Note that the above was not me trying to be snarky - you've hit on the main question with this scenario. When are they going to attack? How much do you think you can get done?

"We have dawdled long enough. Let's head back and prepare our defenses. If they found out where the base is, our companions are in danger." Tarquin states, he drops his share of the money on the counter, does a quick nod of thanks towards the woman, picks up the diamond and he heads back to the base.

Navi has some better manners and says "Why thanks you lady Uzoma, this will be very helpful!"
