Exp. 322 |
Excellent. Those were some low d8s I rolled. Glad it worked out as well as it did. :)
Gazwyr the Green |
The oracle of the dark tapestry has done what she can to help you in in this final push for victory. I shall now accompany you in her place.
GM Lamplighter |
Your final objective is the recovery of Sky Key, a Numerian relic whose recovery and reassembly has been a high priority for the Pathfinder Society over the past year. It is a considerable climb up winding steps to reach the upper-middle floors of Skyreach, where the Sky Key is kept.
Your directions lead you to a set of heavily reinforced wooden double doors that bow outward slightly, one of which has a small mail slot roughly three feet off the ground. You can hear a buzzing hum from within the room.
New map up - feel free to rearrange yourselves outside the door.

Initiative order: Rataji, Shohiraj, Jolyrin, Gazwyr, Marnarius, Zurnzal
You can declare your actions, and we will pause when someone wants to open the door.
Gazwyr the Green |
Gazwyr is behind the wizard. I can fly very fast so there is no need for my greatness to block the passage for you. he explains. Before closing with the door he pulls and drinks his potion of Owl's Wisdom.

Round 1
Rataji, Shohiraj, Jolyrin, Gazwyr, Marnarius, Zurnzal
Rataji casts invisibility on the dragon.
Shohiraj draws and uses dust of tracklessness on the floor. (She already searched for traps before, but can search again next round.)
Jolyrin casts keen edge on her blade.
Gazwyr drinks a potion, but no one sees it because he's invisible.
Marnarius applies poison to his longsword.
Zurnzal delays.
End of round 1 - next round, please.
The Professionnal |
Shohiraj looks for traps.
uses my roll from my previous post
And if she finds some, draws her tools before trying to disable it and asks her comrade to step away.
If she founds nothing she draw her potion of invisibility
GM Lamplighter |
Round 2 (partial)
Rataji uses a scroll to cast fly on the Artist Joliryn.
Shohiraj looks for traps. She detects some kind of magical trap, centered on the mail slot of the right-hand door. She draws her tools and prepares to try to disable it next round. "Step away, friends, the door is trapped."
Jolyrin, Gazwyr, Marnarius and Zurnzal are up!
Gazwyr the Green |
The dragon also steps away from the door and concentrates on his blindsense to try to sense out the room beyond the door. Not sure if this is possible.
GM Lamplighter |
Round 3 (partial)
Rataji steps back to avoid the trap Shohiraj is working on. (You can cast a spell on someone as well in this turn; let me know what it is on whom retroactively.)
Shohiraj attempts to disable the trap. Disable Device: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (9) + 22 = 31 She manages to carefully remove a small card which was stuck in the mail slot, which had explosive runes on it. (Made it by 2! :)
Jolyrin, Gazwyr, Marnarius and Zurnzal are up!
GM Lamplighter |
Round 3 (continued)
Everyone else delays.
From behind the door comes a clear, strong voice. "Well, come in, friends, you haven’t got all day. I imagine your various magical defenses are already ebbing away… best come in and have a go before they’re gone completely. Besides, the Sky Key really is a wonder to behold. It’s why you’re here, after all. You owe yourself at least a look at it." The voice is full of confidence, and you recognize it as that of the Pathfinder Society's Master of Spells, Aram Zey.
End of round 3 - Rataji, Shohiraj, Jolyrin, Gazwyr, Marnarius, Zurnzal are up.
Gazwyr the Green |
Ready here. To be fair to us, it seems like we could have managed some of this buffing before we were right up to the door. I appreciate you pushing us forward but there is no reason longer duration buffs could not have been cast before we were here. That said, I am not sure which buffs are longer duration. But buffs even a minute in duration are long at this level if we expect them to only last a single battle.
GM Lamplighter |
Round 5 (continued)
Shohiraj delays. (If you want to do something else instead, just let me know.)
Joliryn uses her swift action to enhance her sword with shocking burst then opens the door.
This tall library beyond the doorway is ringed by a walkway around its perimeter, which provides access to a second level of towering bookshelves. A broad Qadiran rug leads to a short pedestal within a tall glass case that itself sits within an inscribed circle—all cordoned off by a velvet rope suspended by brass poles. A strange armillary pulses with energy from atop the pedestal. Several plush chairs and a few low tables bearing curiosities and curios line the lower floor, and two decorative suits of armor stand at attention, each with a crossbow resting against its shoulder. Heatless torches blaze with remarkably even light in sconces throughout the room, and a tall pendulum clock on the eastern wall ticks each passing second.
Standing beyond the strange device is Aram Zey, Master of Spells for the Pathfinder Society. He regards you with an arrogant look. "Really? Only five of you? What a shame, I thought this might be interesting."
Will save - Shohiraj: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Will save - Marnarius: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Will save - Jolyrin: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
At the sight of the famed Pathfinder, both Shohiraj and Jolyrin are disgusted (sickened). Marnarius is so overcome with disgust, he must flee the sight of the Pathfidner (and is sickened as well).
Shohiraj, Gazwyr, and Marnarius are all up!
Marnarius CORESlayer7 |
Marnarius seems very angry.
- You! I hate you all, Pathfinders! I am going to really kill you right now!
He studies Aram and charges. Yes is not a very clever strategy but I must try!
GM Lamplighter |
Round 5 (continued)
Shohiraj draws and drinks a potion and disappears. The Master of Spells smiles, looking directly at her. "Invisibility... how quaint. Come now, do you think I'm fresh out of the Arcanamirium?"
Marnarius, overcome with disgust, leaves the doorway and returns around the corner, where he is able to compose himself. (As soon as you leave Aram's sight, you are no longer sickened, but you must make a DC 17 Will save when you can see him again. Failure means you must flee and are sickened; success means you can act normally but are still sickened.)
Aram Zey laughs as Marnarius flees. "Well, there is one of you at least with some sense," he sneers.
Gazwyr is up!
Gazwyr the Green |
The dragon takes flight and moves into the room using his superior senses to try to discern threats and find hidden enemies. I realize this is only his move action. But I wanted a read from you on what he sees in the room. He has a fly speed of 150 so can likely be anywhere he wants to be in the room.
