NOTE: Spoiler edited to include more info.
Gazwyr the Green |
The image of Aram Zey you see is false! Gazwyr says, not reacting to the slight about his size. The wizard is above you on the balcony and is protected by both invisibility and false images. Gazwyr flies up and hovers in front of the wizard 10' out from him and seems to be ready to attack.
Fly Skill to Hover: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Acid breath cone: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 2, 6) = 17
Gazwyr the Green |
Readied to disrupt casting.
Should be able to make the cone so the bottom is level with the enemy and the "overspray" hits the ceiling. I am unsure how high the ceiling is above the doorway. Note that there is only 5' of space between Gaz and Zey.

Aram Zey, at the end of the room, shakes his head sadly. "Alas, pets are so easily distracted by such simple things as a decoy." He begins to casts a spell, and Gazwyr turns and breaths a cone of acid over most of the room! Aram and the Sky Key are bathed in corrosive green mist! The velvet ropes surrounding the Sky Key's case dissolve completely, but the glass of the case itself seems to remain intact.
1d20 ⇒ 11
1d20 ⇒ 18
The wizard recoils, avoiding the worst of the acidic fumes, and snarls at the dragon. "Playtime is OVER!" Three bolts of flame shoot from his fingertips at Gazwyr!

As Gazwyr recoils (from 51 points of fire damage), Aram mutters a very short phrase, and a devastating ennui settles over the party. Everyone but Rataji shakes it off.
Gazwyr the Dragon: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 - success! No effect

Zurnzal the Ambitious: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Zurnzal is up, followed by next round's actions for Rataji, Shohiraj, Jolyrin, Gazwyr, and Marnarius!
Gazwyr the Green |
Gazwyr recoils from the massive amount of fire damage but does not go down. His blindsense allow him to track the location of the invisible presence in the room and he describes as best he can where the caster actually is. The real caster is there! he says pointing. He is approximately 15 feet up in the air. Someone glitter dust the bastard.
Cartmanbeck's CORE Pregen |
On her turn, Jolyrin will do just as Gazwyr said, moving toward the invisible Zay (with fly speed 60) and casting glitterdust. DC 16 to avoid the blinding effect, but he'll be visible either way.
The Professionnal |
@Choon/Rataji sorry ! I forget that
Suddenly remembering that Rataji had cast fly on her, Shohiraj moves toward the wizard, sap ready.
Don't bother comrade ! I'm already flying !
move action to fly up to the wizard and ready an attack once I have the flank with another member of the team.

Round 5 (completed)
Zurnzal moves into the room, and readies to attack anything he can reach from ground level. Aram Zey's widen slightly at the sight of the disguised Zurnzal, but he composes himself quickly. "Arminaldi? I knew you were ineffective, but I didn't think even you would sink this low."
End of Round 5

Round 6
Jolyrin flies into the room and casts glitterdust, using Gazwyr's somewhat ineffective directions as guidance. Luckily, she manages to target the correct area, coating 5 closely-packed flying figures with the golden dust. Will save DC 16: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21
The Professional moves in and waits for her comrades to flank the wizard, a very risky action since she is invisible and no one knows where she is! (That's as far as you can go and still ready an action... you could also wind up either SW, W, or NW of the target if you prefer.)
Rataji. Marnarius, Gazwyr are up! Please try to post quickly, or we will not finish.
GM Lamplighter |
Round 6 (continued)
Rataji draws a scroll, but it takes him forever, affected as he is by a slow spell. (You'll just have to roll that again on your next turn!)
Marnarius steels himself against his disgust and returns to the room. Will save DC 17: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 This time, he manages to contain his disgust, but is still sickened. (I moved you back to speed up the Will save stuff, you still have a standard action from where you stand.)
Marnarius, Gazwyr are up!
Gazwyr the Green |
At 15 hit points. I am torn here. Not sure if I should attack and likely take out a single image. Or try to grapple using Blindsense to avoid the images, or get out of the room and drink my potion of Cure Mod. Oh, and gazwyr does know where Jolyrin is. Oh well, I might as well go for it. Note that Gazwyr become visible when he attacked last round.
The dragon swoops around the room and comes in to provide Jolyrin her flank, hoping beyond hope that she might actually hit the real Zey and not an image. He then trusts to his blindsense and attempts to grapple the wizard to prevent further spell casting.

Round 6 (continued)
Marnarius draws his bow and fires an arrow at the glitterdusted wizard, but misses. Bow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Gazwyr swoops around the room and comes in to provide Shohiraj her flank, triggering Shohiraj's readied action.
Shohiraj hits the glitterdusted figure with her sap, image? 1=real deal: 1d5 ⇒ 4 The figure disappears in a puff, leaving 4 images.
Gazwyr continues, hoping beyond hope that she might actually hit the real Zey and not an image. image? 1=real deal: 1d4 ⇒ 3 Unfortunately, she grapples an insubstantial image, which disappears with a pop. All three of the remaining figures smile cruelly, speaking in Aram Zey's voice in unison. "The odds just aren't in your favor, lizard!"
The invisible figure drifts back from Gazwyr and Shohiraj, just out of reach.
Illusionary Aram Zey laughs and casts a pair of spells, one of which occurs very quickly and emanates from the rod he carries. He beings to mock you, magically spekaing in every known language at once, while a faint magical barrier surrounds him. The same voice appears to come from the glitterdusted figure.
Zurnzal is up, followed by everyone else's Round 7 actions. Also note, some of your spells are coming to the end of their durations fairly soon.

"He can now speak any language. Not sure why he feels that's necessary in the midst of battle... but he also added some magical armor to himself, and the next person to physically attack him may be stunned."
Despite knowing that it could stun her, Joliryn will cast frigid touch, then charge through the air at Zey and try to deliver it.

Hmm... going to rewind slightly here, since it was pointed out that perhaps blindsense should defeat mirror image or not... I'm not sure, but I'm going to rule that it does. So, ignore the last post and replace it with this one...
Round 6 (continued)
Marnarius draws his bow and fires an arrow at the glitterdusted wizard, but misses. Bow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Gazwyr continues, and grapples the glitterdusted figure!
Concentration check DC 24: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26
The glitterdusted figure figure concentrates and casts a quickened spell (which doesn't provoke) and illusionary Aram Zey fires three bolts of fire at Gazwyr!

Gazwyr takes the full brunt of the wizard's wrath, and is largely reduced to ash by 50 more points of fire damage. :(
The glitterdusted figure then withdraws from the vicinity.
Zurnzal is up, followed by everyone else's Round 7 actions. Also note, some of your spells are coming to the end of their durations fairly soon.
GM Lamplighter |
Let's try this again...

Round 7
Rataji casts his dispel magic, but it fails to have any effect.
The Professional attacks with her sap destroying another mirror image. image? 1=real: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Joliryn casts frigid touch, then charges through the air at Zey. image? 1=real: 1d3 ⇒ 3 Yet another image disappears, leaving only 1 plus the real one.
Gazwyr, Marnarius are up!
Gazwyr the Green |
I have a question into the DM about this action, but this is likely what I will do. I will also begin to move towards the ground if I can do that while maintaining a grapple/pin
Maintain Grapple: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35
Gazwyr the Green |
But here is my delima: If Zey can use that wand in his hand then he will take me out on his turn. I can pin him with that roll but the DM seems to rule that even pinned he can missile me. Its a complex call and I cannot say that is wrong. So pinning really does nothing, I can instead move zee to the ground but then he will missile me and likely fly up again. And I will be either down or dead. Or I could full attack and get 5 attacks. But I will likely not even get past his stone skin. I am open to ideas.
Choon's CORE Pregen |
Ohhh. I recommend pinning. You can't use a wand while pinned.
A pinned creature can take verbal and mental actions, but cannot cast any spells that require a somatic or material component. A pinned character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make aconcentrationcheck (DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level) or lose the spell
I would call a wand a material component, but it's up to GM. If he can still use a wand, I say full attack and hope you get lucky.
GM Lamplighter |
To activate a wand, a character must hold it in hand (or whatever passes for a hand, for nonhumanoid creatures) and point it in the general direction of the target or area. A wand may be used while grappling or while swallowed whole.
He already has the wand in hand, activating it is verbal/mental (which is allowed), and pointing it in the general direction of the target is also doable, even while pinned. So, he can activate the wand while pinned. Note, he could not cast the spell from memory while pinned, due to the rule Choon quoted, nor could he draw a wand and then use it.
Gazwyr the Green |
OK. No reason to delay this longer. :) I think the dragon, being a dragon would run and save himself. But I am not gonna do that. If I turn Zey loose he will cast some big spell and I will likely die. If I maintain the grapple and pin or move to the ground he will drop me and fly back up, but not do damage to any of you that round. Now if I pin, someone else could tie him up. Anyone with a rope And an action left? Perhaps the DM will let someone change their action based on this:
The dragon wraps his claws around Zey Pinning him to his body and calls Someone get a rope.
GM Lamplighter |
Round 7 (continued)
Gazwyr wraps his claws around Zey and calls, "Someone get a rope!"
Marnarius moves forward and shoots at the wizard again, destroying the last mirror image.bow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28image? 1=real: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Concentration DC 24: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32
Aram Zey concentrates, mutters a single word, and disappears from the dragon's grasp. He reappears across the room, and scowls at you. "OK, kids, time to end this!"
Zurnzal is up, followed by Rataji, Shohiraj, Jolyrin, Gazwyr, and Marnarius!
Marnarius CORESlayer7 |
Marnarius fires two arrows against Aram Zey.

Aram is a human studied as target (+4 Attack & damage); If I am still sickened -2 to all
GM Lamplighter |
Nope, reading the scroll is what happened in round 6 - it seems forever ago because I had to rewind us, twice. In round 7 he can move in. And yes, being slowed sucks - you're all lucky it's only one of you. At my first face-to-face table, everyone but 1 person failed and were slowed the entire battle.
Cartmanbeck's CORE Pregen |
Jolyrin casts another frigid touch (her last for the day) then moves up to Zey and swings.
keen flaming shocking burst kukri: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
damage: 1d3 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 plus flaming: 1d6 ⇒ 4 plus shock: 1d6 ⇒ 3 plus frigid touch: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 1) = 15 and on hit he's staggered for 1 round.
Ugh. What a time to roll relatively low.
She will also spend a Swift action to use a point of her pool to gain blur. Note that if Zey tries to cast a spell defensively while she's threatening him, the Concentration DC increases by 6.
Gazwyr the Green |
At 4 hp. Gazwyr flies from the room. Once safely down the hall he pulls his potion of Cure Mod and prepares to drink it.
The Professionnal |
Shohiraj flyes to flank with Jolyrin and strikes the mage.
