Hello!

Hello, my fellow Pathfinders. Allow me to introduce myself: I am Imbroglio Guarini, sometimes known as Vinnie. I am a businessman and raconteur, Varisian by birth, Sczarni by blood. I have been known to engage in the occasional mission for the Pathfinder Society, as you may have heard. I'm something of a big deal, you know. If you haven't heard of me, do not despair. You will.

Imbroglio went and leveled up to 4th level over the weekend. Is that still cool?

Yep. We're not starting until April 5 so feel free to play them/apply credit until then. And this module is written for fourth level so that's probably better for everyone!

(Notice that the Gameplay thread is open too. Feel free to use it for RP while we're waiting for April 5 to roll around.)

Theo will be level 4 before this starts too. Just as an fyi.
One more scenario to go.

EndlessForms was the GM for my first ever pbp game, so happy to be back for another go =)

Hi guys, would like to know what char is needed as I have several ready to be played or I can pregen as needed.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

I would prefer no pregens, especially if you have a character available. I think it would work out to everyone's advantage to have an actual character over a pregen.

Sovereign Court

Chronicle Sheets GM Busy At Work........

I have Characters available except for wizards.
I'd prefer an actual character actually.
I got a level 4 somewhere and a bunch of level 3s.

As of last count:
Level 4 - Ranger 3/Inquistor 1
Level 3 - Monk 3, Barbarian 2/Alchemist 1,

The Exchange

N Dwarf Ranger 9

OK, officially level 4 now as predicted.

Profile updated. Just need to pick a feat for my animal companion.

Endless, I've decided that I'm going to take Maaarv over to GM Feral's Quest for Perfection games, since I ran him through Part 1 and would like to have him finish the series.

I don't have anyone else that will be available for gameday in-tier.

So, I'll have to step down. Sorry.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

No problem, I'm sure I'll find another.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

So one thing we do need to deal with before we start is deciding which side you would like to aid: Molthune or Nirmathas. It won't change the module much, it's just mostly flavor at the beginning. But you can decide which one you like more while we're waiting.

The Exchange

HP 71/71, AC 12, T12, F 12; F+7, R+10, W+12/18*, CMD 17; Init +6, Perc +0

Vinnie is in favor of these tree-loving Nirmathas types, on account of his inexplicable love of trees and nature, which is, by the by, counter to everything he stands for, such as freedom, profit and the continuation of my legitimate business interests.

Also, Vinnie has heard that the Molthuni throw really lousy parties. Who wants to have a really lousy victory party?

Sovereign Court

Chronicle Sheets GM Busy At Work........

I'm in favor of Nirmathas.

Shrug, Little Foot doesn't care, whichever one pays better and are less of a dick, most likely! =)

Checking in. I still have to update Ash to lvl 4, but I still have about a week to do that so shouldn't be a problem.

I do not know enough about either Molthune or Nirmathas at the moment to have an opinion in favor of either of them.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

So we have two for Nirmathas and two who don't care.

Nirmathi soldiers tend to me more ranger-y and gritty, whereas Molthuni soldiers can be thought of as a Roman legion. You can read more about each country on the Pathfinder Wiki if you are interested.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Ok, everyone! GameDay officially starts at the end of this week. This is just a reminder for everyone to make sure their characters/profiles are up-to-date and that everyone is ready to go.

Since we are doing a full module I'd like everyone to try to keep a good pace up. I think we will start Thursday night or Friday morning because we are unlikely to jump into combat in the first 24 hours and I'd like to get a slight head start to give us the best chance of finishing on time. I think we should be able to do it without a problem if everyone keeps up on their posting.

If you are ready to go and up-to-date, there's nothing much more for you to do right now except to be patient for a few more days. In the meantime, it might be helpful if you all started introducing yourselves and getting to know each other in the Gameplay thread so that you are already acquainted when we jump into the action later this week. Thanks!

hrmm...

My original intention with Little Foot, was to start him out with a dire rat animal companion, and then some point in the future, once he had an opportunity to get the boon companion feat, switch over to the axe beak he's allowed via PFS boon.

But recent reading of the PFS rules regarding animal companions seems to indicate that if he switches to a new AC, it comes without any tricks known for its int... and since you can only train one trick/scenario, I'd have to spend at least 2 levels worth of scenarios retraining its tricks (assuming success each time) just to get it back to 'combat trained'. Which might be problematic.

So I might trash my rat intention and start with the bird, but just keep him in storage til I can toughen him up for adventuring purposes.

Shame really, I liked the idea of the rat.

Will decide this before we start, just letting you know that it might change from what is listed now.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Or just raise the companion's Int to 3 and then tricks become irrelevant because it can understand your commands.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf

A grizzled looking dwarf steps forward.
"Greeting, I'm Garen Boulderstep and I look forward to working with all of you."

Short and simple, this dwarf's bearing is one of no nonsense.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

I will encourage everyone to introduce themselves in Gameplay and get to know each other. Once the action starts there might not be adequate time so this is a good chance to get to know each other before the adventure starts.

Unfortunately, Handle Animal checks and taught tricks still required even when you raise its int to 3, according to the FAQ on the subject.

using AC's is all new to me, so learning as I go =)

Imbroglio will be purchasing a Smuggler's Wayfinder (2,000 gp) to commemorate his most recent greatness, whatever that might be.

The Exchange

N Dwarf Ranger 9

OK, decided to keep the dire rat AC for now.

Luckily, I was misreading one of the faq's on training of animals, and you can teach them 1 trick per rank you have in handle animal per scenario (not just 1 per scenario like I'd thought) ... so retraining isn't so bad after all!

I can pick up the bird later!

Theo, I have another character that has an AC. I just always went with the rules as stated in the CRB - I didn't realize that things were different regarding tricks for Society.

My searching isn't the best, could you post a link for me? I just want to make sure I'm doing things right.

Away at work. Will be back by Monday. AM too tired to post anything.

The Exchange

GM, before I do this, I want to make sure its actually allowed...

I made a purchase for Little Foot off of one of his chronicle sheets (for Beggar's Pearl) of a ivory-handled short sword (60gp) ... it was very rp appropriate for the dwarf given how that particular item came into play during the scenario.

I would like to ask Ash to masterwork it via the 2nd level masterwork transformation spell... but am not sure if I'm allowed to create a masterwork version of this item, given how PFS handles that sort of thing.

So figured I'd ask, before throwing most of my remaining coins at it.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

I believe each PC is allowed to have one masterwork transformation item (and one continual flame item, and a few other similar permanent spells that other PCs can cast for you). Other PCs can do these things for you but you have to pay the gold. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do that with the ivory-handled short sword so go ahead. But you won't be able to use masterwork transformation for this character again.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

By the way, we flew through the past few encounters and only have two more after this, which means we'll finish with plenty of time unless something goes horribly wrong. So if you'd like to go back to Dax or Blegenshy after this combat and talk with them for a bit you've got time to do so. Or if you decide that your party isn't very talkative or interested with them we can just keep plowing ahead, whatever you guys want to do.

The Exchange

N Dwarf Ranger 9

They'd have to want to talk to us first =)

Though I admit I love the name 'Blagensky' for the water critter.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Hey guys! We are in the final combat and clearly near the end, which means we should finish on time with no problem!

A few things I need from you:

  • Your PFS number
  • Day Job roll (if you have a Day Job)
  • Roll 1d20 for a chance to win a boon!

On a nat 1 you get a random boon and on a nat 20 you get to choose. Here are the boons being offered:

    Boon 1:
Lingering Resonance: A recent encounter with an enemy spellcaster left your body strangely receptive to spell effects. At the beginning of a scenario, you may announce that you are using this boon. The next time that you fail a saving throw against any spell or spell-like ability from an enemy spellcaster, have your GM write the name of the spell below. Choose one of the following benefits, and cross the other off your Chronicle sheet.
    • When you cast the listed spell, you may increase the DC of the saving throw by 2.
    • When you roll a saving throw against the listed spell, you gain a +4 bonus on the save.
You may use this bonus once for free, after which you should check the box below; each additional use of the selected benefit costs 1 Prestige Point.

    Boon 2:
Long Distance Support: You heard the Decemvirate’s call to arms as the Fifth Crusade began, but for whatever reason the society did not send you to the front lines immediately. You may nonetheless send extra supplies to aid your fellow Pathfinders. At the end of any scenario that does not take place in Mendev or the Worldwound, you may choose to spend 1 Prestige Point to send a cache of necessary supplies north to aid the war effort. On a line below, have your GM record where the scenario took place and initial the entry. Upon filling all five lines, you gain two benefits.
First, you gain a Mendevian Commendation for your tireless efforts to supply the crusade. A Mendevian Commendation grants you a cumulative +1 bonus on Charisma-based skill checks to influence Mendevian Crusaders (maximum +3).
Second, as a swift action while fighting a creature with the demon subtype or bearing an unholy symbol of a demon lord, you may grant all allies that you can see within 60 feet a +2 circumstance bonus on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws against those creatures for one minute. When you use this second ability, cross it off your Chronicle sheet.

    Boon 3:
Mendevian Weapon Training: Queen Galfrey of Mendev understands both that poorly equipped crusaders are of little use to the ongoing war against demonkind and that an inadequately trained crusader cannot make effective use of good equipment. As a result, those who dedicate themselves to the Fifth Crusade have access to training and equipment that might not otherwise be available. When you would be permitted a Day Job check, you may instead spend 4 Prestige Points to receive intensive training with a specific weapon or suit of armor. You receive a masterwork version of the weapon or armor, and you gain proficiency in that specific weapon or armor (but not others of its type). If you are already proficient with the selected armor or weapon, you instead gain a +2 bonus to CMD against disarm and sunder combat maneuvers targeting the chosen item.
Choose the weapon or armor from the following list: breastplate, glaive, heavy shield, or longsword.

    Boon 4:
Moment of Glory: Whether it is by fate, fortune, or circumstance, you are able to tap into a hidden reserve of power at just the right moment to perform a truly extraordinary feat. By activating this boon as a free action, you become a mythic character (1st mythic tier) for 3 rounds. If you fall unconscious due to hit point loss during this time, you automatically stabilize without needing to attempt a Constitution check. In addition, once before this effect ends, you may use the surge mythic ability to increase any d20 roll you just made by rolling 1d6 and adding it to the result. Using the surge is an immediate action taken after the result of the original roll is revealed. This can change the outcome of the roll.
When you use this boon, cross it off your Chronicle sheet; however, anytime you successfully complete (earning the maximum possible number of Prestige Points) a scenario that using the “hard mode” option, you may have the GM sign this boon. You may use this boon one additional time for each such signature you receive.

    and I get to roll too!: 1d20 ⇒ 17
