Sounds good Madchappy

GM Fuskee |

I'll play Navasi! :) I'm rolling a Mechanic for the other two Starfinder Society games I'm playing on the 30th so this will help me get an idea of how these skill monkeys work in SFS. At least I hear that's what Envoys mostly do.
Edit: Also, is it frowned upon to change the gender of pregens? Just for roleplaying purposes. Didn't realize Navasi was a female and I just get into character a little better if it's a male character.

GM Poblano Pepper |

Gm fuskee i wont frown if you end up being Navaso instead ;) i understand persons find it easier to be a preferred gender.

GM Poblano Pepper |

Looks like we got out crew. Now to find a ship so we can get paid.
KhaozKnight- Quig
GM Cwethen - Obozaya
Madchappy - Raia
Thewissen - Altronus
Azih - ?
GM Fuskee - Navaso
Azih at the moment it looks like Keskodai and Iseph are your choices. But again this is tentative as stuff hasn't released yet ;) i understand if you all want to change later.
-Posted with Wayfinder

GM Poblano Pepper |

@Thewissen: the next step is now the waiting game. Not much more we are able to do now at the moment.
Next step will come about on the 17th or earlier when stuff is released.
Until then feel free to discuss what tote thoughts are about SFS. What you hope to see. What you want to see from your GMs *cough cough* Any things in factions you like?

GM Poblano Pepper |

Now I just need them to post Obozaya!
Love it

GM Fuskee |

For half a year I told myself I'd be playing an android, then I saw a few pages from the CRB with the Ysoki on them (ratfolk in space) and now I don't think I can play anything but Ysoki. They are so damn adorable, like smaller Rocket Raccoons.

Azih |

Are Ysoki the only small core race in Starfinder?
Oh and GM, how does playing a pre generated character in a sepcial one shot work in Society? Should I create a separate Pathfinder Society character for it? How does xp and credit and good stuff like that work since it's not going to be applied to a society character of my own?

GM Fuskee |

Ummmmmmm, I believe so. I also saw Vesk, which are like lizard people, and an insect looking race, nothing else small though. I did see a Paizo blog post about using the Pathfinder races in Starfinder with the appropriate stat changes but there are no racials and stuff so I'm not sure if those will be allowed in Society play yet.
Pathfinder Races in Starfinder
Post if anyone wants to check it out.
Other posts cause I'm bored at work and I'd rather post stuff for you guys than work on another Excel spreadsheet.
Here are the 5 factions:
Acquisitives
Dataphiles
Wayfinders
Second-Seekers
ExoGuardians
Here is how Boons are going to work in Starfinder
A Game of Boons
And last but not least, a FREE PDF for a first glance at Starfinder.
Starfinder: First Contact

GM Fuskee |

After reading over the Pathfinder Races page, it mentions how there are racials and stuff that will be explained in the Starfinder Core Rulebook, there's a section about Legacy stuff so I'm assuming the Pathfinder races listed will be usable in Starfinder Society.
So in a way yes there are more small races; gnomes and halflings at least.

GM Cwethan |

My understanding is that the Pathfinder races are going to be boon-gated in SFS (though Hmm is trying to make sure there's PbP possibilities to get the Legacy Boons)

![]() |

I also recommend Azih that you create an alias such as this one that is not linked to a Society character of yours.
For me it makes it easier to switch out different pregens as i go without having to make a new alias for each Game I play.

GM Poblano Pepper |

Well it seems that the boards ate my earlier post... grumble grumble.... I'm any case. GM Fuskee and GM Cwethan. Thank you both i couldn't have said it better my self. I have confirmed though that legacy (pathfinder) races will be locked behind a boon wall. That boon wall is the Regional Support Program sadly. Azih. Pregens in starfinder society will pay the same as they do in pathfinder society. You play through and as long as you made it through the TPK fun ;) the XP and credits earned will be applied to your Starfinder Society character that you make (-701, -702, etc.) Though I'm not sure if you can apply it at level one or if you have to hold it until your character hits level 4. I should know more soon.
Even as a VO I know little (that i can say)
Gotta love NDAs :)

Navaso the Iconic |

Navaso is alive! And that's a shame they're limiting it already, it kinda makes sense but with the small enough pool of races already I would have rather liked the extra races and then make future races into boons. Where can I find info about the Regional Support Program? Sadly everywhere else in my state there are groups that run weekly/monthly Society games but none in just my section. I was thinking about maybe starting something up once I feel a bit more comfortable with my real-time GMing.
Edit: And dear god, I hope you're not on -701, -702 yet O_O

GM Cwethan |

Starfinder characters start at -701 so that no one's altoholism interferes with keeping the same Society #

GM Poblano Pepper |

What he said.
You will need to soak with your local VO and ask about the Regional Support Program.
If you don't mind my asking, where do you hail from GM Fuskee?

Navaso the Iconic |

OH haha that makes way more sense, I thought you were just making a joke about having 700 Society characters, I mean you could have a bunch of level 1s.
I'm in Ohio. Ohiopfs.org has a calendar of events but none in the Dayton area which is where I am. There are a couple an hour or so away so I might just end up commuting once or twice a month for a game but it would be much nicer to have something truly local. All the gaming areas around me don't seem to have any active Society groups anymore either.

Navaso the Iconic |

Solarions look like a lot of fun, that's where I was going at first but once I saw the Ysoki and some of the Mechanic stuff, I had flashbacks of my glory days in Shadowrun and had to go back to an old character theme of mine.

GM Poblano Pepper |

Haha Thewissen we all have been there. I was yell Kaiju earlier in another PbP game I'm in. Fantastic stuff.
In regards to the factions... i have no clue but i believe if its like PFS pregens are now you declare the faction for your pregen.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Thewissen |

From what I know there's no more joining factions. You can gain favour for each of the factions as you wish from mission to mission.
I have to say I like that... I really like that.
@Poblano, why were you yelling Kaiju? Also, is there anywhere I can go to see an example of how pbp is played? I've never done it with as much tools as these forums provide, but I also wanna know how this goes and handles.

GM Poblano Pepper |

@Thewissen: There is a scenario that i am playing that has a moment i feel like I'm Gypsy Danger fighting against Kaiju Leatherback.
To answer tote other question i recommend checking out what a fellow GM has posted previously.
For players new to play-by-post PFS, please check out some time-tested resources:
My plan is that once they make the pregen characters available i will be modifying them to better appear on play by post and also create your player tagline headers.
-Posted with Wayfinder

GM Poblano Pepper |

@Poblano, thanks! I'll be reading those. Hope you had fun with that! Is it a Society Scenario? I remember running one like that, with a huge four armed gorilla and an ancient construct.
Shhhhhh. Lol that's the one. I plan to run it at my LGS shortly to just see the look on peoples faces. I have to find the right mini though...

OK... well... I'm not one to force conversation. I actually find silence quite comforting. But reading those articles Poblano shared, it says that we might want to try and post something everyday. So... yeah. I'm going to bring out a subject I'd like to discuss with you guys.
It's a rules "question".
When I run adventures with new players, and they fall prone, they, reasonably, want to stand up. I warn them, however, that they will cause an attack of opportunity from any adjecent enemies.
And once, I was asked, "Can I do it all fancy and acrobatically to NOT cause it?"
I ruled he could. After all, you can roll Acrobatics to move through enemies' threatened areas. Throwing his legs up in the air to spring up and then pull them under his body to land on them with acrobatics while avoiding attacks sounds awesome and cool.
And, of course, if he failed the roll, he'd still cause attacks of opportunity, and I figured I could take away half of his movement in case he wanted to move after that (which he didn't).
But of course, that was my table. What do you guys think? Perhaps we could take this chance to have any table rules presented to us?

But reading those articles Poblano shared, it says that we might want to try and post something everyday.
Posting everyday is certainly necessary to keep a good rhythm of play once we are started =).
With that said, sorry for not being so responsive lately, since this didn't show up in my campaigns yet, i kept forgetting to check it when I was in front of the PC.

GM Poblano Pepper |

@KhaozKnight and to everyone the gameplay thread is up. Feel free to ninja dot in if you would like so it will show up I your campaigns tab.
@Thewissen you can use acrobatics to getup from a prone position to avoid the AoO but it's a full round action.
In addition, you can move through a threatened square without provoking an attack of opportunity from an enemy by using Acrobatics. When moving in this way, you move at half speed. You can move at full speed by increasing the DC of the check by 10. You cannot use Acrobatics to move past foes if your speed is reduced due to carrying a medium or heavy load or wearing medium or heavy armor. If an ability allows you to move at full speed under such conditions, you can use Acrobatics to move past foes. You can use Acrobatics in this way while prone, but doing so requires a full-round action to move 5 feet, and the DC is increased by 5. If you attempt to move through an enemy's space and fail the check, you lose the move action and provoke an attack of opportunity.

@Poblano: I was waiting to be able to create a SFS character for the forum, since I don't know how to withdraw a char from a game, and didn't want to clutter up the Characters tab needlessly =)
P.S. Can you remove character 701 from the campaign (just uncheck the right tab), decided to create a Pregen alias instead.
———•-----•———•-----•———
About standing up from prone, for PFS play and it's 100% RAW adherence, there's nothing in the acrobatics skill description that lets you stand up from prone, you can use it to crawl and not provoke attacks of opportunity.
Standing up from a prone position requires a move action and provokes attacks of opportunity.
Kip-Up (Ex): At 3rd level, while the swashbuckler has at least 1 panache point, she can kip-up from prone as a move action without provoking an attack of opportunity. She can kip-up as a swift action instead by spending 1 panache point.
Prerequisite: Ki pool.
Benefit: While you have at least 1 ki point in your ki pool, you can stand up as a swift action that provokes attacks of opportunity.
You may spend 1 point of your ki pool to stand up as a swift action without provoking attacks of opportunity.
Savanna Ambush (Ex): At 4th level, a plains druid gains concealment whenever she is prone in natural surroundings, and can make Stealth checks at no penalty when prone and not moving or at –5 when crawling. A plains druid can stand up from prone as an immediate action during a surprise round. This ability replaces resist nature's lure.
Benefit: You add your Wisdom bonus on Acrobatics checks. While using this style, you take no penalty on melee attack rolls or to AC while prone. Further, you can crawl and stand up from lying prone without provoking attacks of opportunity, and you can stand up as a swift action if you succeed at a DC 20 Acrobatics check.
Benefit: A rogue with this ability can stand up from a prone position as a free action. This still provokes attacks of opportunity for standing up while threatened by a foe.
So for PFS (and maybe SFS) the characters need to either invest in feats or classes to be able to do it.
Now, for non-PFS play, GM Fiat and house rules will be the shot callers here. =)

GM Poblano Pepper |

Got you covered Khaoz. I removed 701 and thank you for clarifying acrobatics.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Navaso the Iconic |

Fair enough! I was going to comment that if you can move 5 feet with a full round action while prone with Acrobatics I figured you could move 5 feet "upwards" and on to your feet with a full-round action as well but now that you've pointed out that multiple archetypes have special effects that allow this, I definitely see your point.

Thewissen |

Could you not stand up from prone with acrobatcs as a full round action, then? All the examples Khaoz enlisted let you modify the action needed to stand up from prone. But I don't see one prohibiting you from doing it as a full round action.
And a question: Would it be advisable to create an alias for gameplay?

Quig -Khaoz |

@Thewissen: Since we'll be playing with Pregens, using an alias for Pregens is better than a Character, IMO, for one simple reason, when a GM types in my SFS ID for reporting, it will bring up the correct character name. And you can still have it with complete stats appearing below the name. (Which I don't have right now because Pregens should be coming out during the week (hopefully before Tuesday because GenCon)).
BTW you can use either your main account, aliases or characters to post on the Gameplay tab, which will make it show up on the Characters tab, but more importantly on your campaigns. So you can see when it's been updated.
For example, right now on the Characters tab, you can find GM Poblano Pepper, GM Cwethan and a certain rat waiting for a prettier more techy picture. And a retired Android.
