Venator Legatti |
Although the guy was really unaware of the arrow, it was too much of a coincidence that he died with the first arrow and, specially, that the body sank in the river. Venator, who was beside the boat after his fast run, jumps in the water to cast Stabilize on the body or discover the subterfuge of the villain.
Aerodus Lurconarr Charthagnion |
Aerodus runs back to the group. He dives in and searches for himself. No doubt he can locate the body.
Swim: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Perception: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 2 = 15 (+2 is because the body is human.)
Aerodus Lurconarr Charthagnion |
Aerodus resurfaces. "I can see the body. It's moving faster than it should. I think something's dragging it away. Maybe a shark trying to get a bite. Want me to try and retrieve the body?"
Venator Legatti |
"I would advise against it, unless you're used to being underwater. Whatever is there could come after you."
Swim: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6 Oh Domina Fortuna, don't you like your humble servant???
Aerodus Lurconarr Charthagnion |
Aerodus nods at Lia, an eyebrow raised. "Very well."
At Venator's suggestion, Aerodus just draws his sword. "Well, I'm going to get the body anyways. Someone has to fix what Jirani did." He dives.
Swim: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Aerodus Lurconarr Charthagnion |
Perception: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 2 = 14 (Again, +2 due to Octavian's human (or at least his corpse is))
Aerodus Lurconarr Charthagnion |
Aerodus nods at the half-elf. He propels himself through the water.
Swim: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Perception (if needed): 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 2 = 12
Aerodus Lurconarr Charthagnion |
Going after the body too. I should have 26 rounds of air total. Don't know how much I have left.
Lia Vantas |
Lia watches the body be dragged away faster than she and Aerodus can pursue with a forlorn, resigned look.
She taps Aerodus on the shoulder and points to the surface. The look on her face is a mixture of resignation & frustration.
With that, she makes for the surface.
Swim: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Jirani Shores |
Bad timing to be away from the board, I apologize, weekends are hard for me to post on...
Jirani raises his eyebrows as the arrow collides with the man knocking him into the water. AS events unfold over the next couple of minutes Jirani calmly follows the others as they move into the water. Unable to shake a collision of strong feelings the Pharasamite watches saying out loud to no one in particular, I am a trained archer but that was beyond my normal means. My Lady wanted him. And perhaps someone or something else wants to obscure the rest...
Jirani patiently waits to see if there is anything he can do while warily watching after Octavian's destination.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Aerodus Lurconarr Charthagnion |
Aerodus scowls seeing the body getting away. He growls, bubbles escaping his mouth. Feeling a tap on his shoulder, he turns to see Lia pointing the the surface. She's wearing the same look on his face. With that, he follows her to the surface.
Swim: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Lia Vantas |
Once Lia surfaces, she makes her way back to shore.
Swim (If Needed): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Once on shore, she shivers. The harbour water drips off of her chain shirt and her hair is matted to her head. She coughs before taking a gasping breath and muttering an incantation, waving her hand in front of herself. Her clothes and armour begin to dry off, albeit slowly.
She gives Jirani an exasperated look. "Nice shot. No, really."
Aerodus Lurconarr Charthagnion |
Aerodus rises and heads for shore.
Swim (if needed): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Aerodus pulls himself, armor and clothing wet. His scarlet hair is matted to his head. He wheels his head around to Jirani. His scowl deepens. "Yeah. Nice shot. Now we don't have any evidence. Didn't you hear what the sheriff said? About not killing anyone? You really painted us in a positive light there, Inquisitor." Turning to Lia, he sees that some of her hair is front of her face. Against his better judgement, he moves it out of the way and behind her ear. He follows Venator, stopping to dump the water from his boots and his quiver.
Lia Vantas |
Lia is rather surprised when Aerodus moves her hair out of her eyes, but she doesn't object.
When Aerodus follows Venator onto the boat, Lia starts pouring the water out of her boots before gathering her backpack and following the two. Hopefully, she could smooth things over if it came to that...
Aerodus Lurconarr Charthagnion |
Seeing Lia's look of surprise, Aerodus snaps his head to her. "Tch. Don't take it personally. You just can't fight with your vision obscured."
Bluff: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Jirani Shores |
Jirani offers a solemn nod in what looks to be an earnest attempt to convey an apology, A hundred times I would make such a shot and ninety-nine of them would a man, at worst, collapse in pain. What my Lady does with the remaining shot... Jirani offers a shrug as though to say "its beyond my control". I am sorry it has happened this way.
Hopeful that Aerodus accepts the apology Jirani will follow the others as they approach the ship.
Venator Legatti |
Venator does not get in, but instead speak with them. "Good morning, gentleman. We would like to have a nice conversation with you, and as long as you are honest with us, you have nothing to fear! May I ask what were you doing this fine morning?"
Lia Vantas |
Lia cringes. Korvosa... what was he going there for?
"It would have been for the best if he didn't make it there, gentlemen." She clears her throat and steps up to the crew. "That man was wanted for two counts of murder: a barkeeper and his serving girl. We also had reason to suspect him as being the one behind Sandpoint's plague problem, and he may have had ties to a child slavery ring that we recently stopped."
She folds her arms behind her back. "We meant to bring him in alive, but, unfortunately, he was killed by accident as we were going to arrest him." Some water still drips from her chain shirt; the spell she cast wasn't working fast enough for her. "May we ask why he planned to go to Korvosa?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Aerodus Lurconarr Charthagnion |
Aerodus leans against the wall. "So, are we going to Korvosa?"
Lia Vantas |
Lia bites her lip. On one hand, Jirani would likely be wanted for manslaughter, if not outright murder. And there was a murder in Sandpoint as of late, but that could easily have been Zellara. The thought of Zellara's head still in its hatbox causes her to shudder. She wanted to at least put her to rest...
On the other hand, Octavian was apparently planning to meet someone in Korvosa. It could have been his brother, but that term can be interpreted in a host of different ways... it's entirely unlikely Octavian could have been a lone operator.
That, and the Queen of Korvosa would probably appreciate having her brooch returned to her.
"That sounds like a reasonable idea." Lia finally says. "But... I still have some things to do first."
I have to let Dad know where I'm going. And the caravan too. Then, I need to at least have Zellara's remains put to rest.
Jirani Shores |
I had not thought about the part where I might be wanted for manslaughter....whoops. I agree it would be best to follow this thread into Korvosa. I will stay aboard here and wait for the rest of you to finish any other business. When Venator asks after the belongings Jirani nods in agreement ready to follow.
Aerodus Lurconarr Charthagnion |
Aerodus turns his head to the chest. He walks over to it. As he walks, he mumbles to himself. He then checks it over for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Lia Vantas |
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Lia turns her head towards Aerodus as he starts mumbling.
Yep. Fugitive. And evidently not interested in going to Korvosa for fear that his cover will be blown. I'll have to ask him later, in private. I can at least do that right.
She steps off the boat and heads off into Sandpoint to find the caravan.
Anybody know where Andando's gone off to? He hasn't posted here in a while...
