Scritch attacks the twigjack, pulling it apart with a swipe from a claw and a bite.
Combat's over!
I'm posting the banner info again, together with some additional info:
The banner between the north exit and the west exit contains a skillfully painted image. The left side of the picture depicts several dejected humans crowded by buildings (mills, inns, houses, and similar structures). On the right side, as though stepping out from the claustrophobic alleys on the left, are several bestial humanoids, standing tall and proud in an open meadow surrounded by blooming vegetation. A trio of cavorting stick-figure twig jacks have been scrawled in the background of the meadow.
The banner between the west exit and the south exit depicts a complicated lunar calendar. The calendar is covered with symbols that depict phases throughout the lunar year.

Lizzy stares at the tablet, going over its writings carefully.
She then looks up.
"Oi, not good, not good nuh-uh. This is a timed design for the affliction's spread. Here, it indicates the ritual's start will be a slow one from the Briar Henge. Next few weeks, it aims to affect nearby logging spots, like with those 3 a bit ago. Final day.....it's got enough power to affect Wispil's residents."
Oleander Anwamanë |
Oleander grabs the book of fey-porn and sticks it in her backpack.
"Interesting tapestries. Talk about an idealistic world-view. They look like they are intent on saving everyone from the 'evils' of civilisation. "
She thinks for a moment or two.
"These druids may not actually be evil, just very misguided and misled. If we can avoid killing them, that would be prefereable."
Assuming Sun is still unconscious and someone has a CLW wand
Oleander is happy to wield the wand and brings Sun around again

She then heads towards the far exit from the clearing, and looks to see what may be there.

"This is caused by a bunch of twigs?"
I do not have a wand, and I looked over Sun's character an only see a potion, so does anyone have a CLW wand? If not, we should use his potion.
StephNyan |
I've been going over the inventories, and no one seems to have a wand of CLW :S
Meaning Oleander had to use Sun's potion to bring him back to 2HP. (He never went to -5 due to Ludwick stabilizing him.)
I'll wait to see if some of the others perhaps also want to patch themselves up, before moving on.
While going over the tablet and its writings, Beads returns to her normal size. The spells Leepo'd cast on Scritch also wear off.
Sun Desin |
Thanks everyone. I wanted tot ry and avoid getting a wand as I can cast the spell myself, but it seems more and more like a good thing to get one as a back up. I'll update me stuff after this post
Sun comes around slowly, the taste of the potion leaving a sickly sweet taste in his mouth.
"Thanks Oleander" He says with a groan sitting up. Finally standing, he listens to what everyone has to say, especially what Leepo says about the book.
"I agree, I have met druids who were misguided to say the least. It is easy to fall into the trap of nothing is good enough so it must be eliminated. Sounds like we should get moving however, time is short. But if nobody minds, I'll use my last spell on myself, I am still very weakened."
Cure light, self: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Oleander Anwamanë |
If you would prefer, and the GM allows it, I'll grab a CLW on Oleander. She has been freeloading for a few adventures now (mostly as she hangs back and is rarely hit.)
StephNyan |
It's always a good idea for any character to have a healing wand, even if the character himself can't use it: others won't have to use up their own spells or items on your character. It's generally the first item I purchase with PP, so I don't 'waste' others' resources.
The party moves on, following Oleander to the north.
North Chamber
This long, wide area is partially roofed by a sheet of woven bark. Under the bark sheet rest several casks, boxes, and simple pieces of furniture. Gourds dangle from the thorny walls as though hung on hooks. Three breaks in the bramble walls lead west, south, and east.
The stores include dried food, spare bedding, a washbasin, and so forth. The gourds contain fresh drinking water.
For those who haven't yet: could you update the HP in your stat bars to match your current HP, to be found in this post? Thank you!

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Pooka looks around the various objects and containers, quickly takes a drink of the fresh water, and eventually discovers a pile of Goodberries.
"Lets share these, everyone eat one. Sun, why don't you hold on to them, just in case we need them later."
Pooka pops one of the berries in his mouth, then urges the group to continue moving on.
"Based on that picture, I would say it's not druids we are looking for in here, but a couple more of those stick creatures. I am guessing we will find two more, so be ready for that thorn spray again, spread out next time. Ludwick, if you have more of those fire bombs, they might do wonders against those little walking pieces of kindling."
With that, Pooka spurs Luna forward, carefully but purposefully searching out the next area in hopes of finding the splinter.
Oleander Anwamanë |
Oleander, bow back in hand follows the impatient cavalier.
GM, are you okay with my getting a CLW wand? if so I'll use a charge on Sun so he is a little less likely to die in the next spray of thorns.CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 He should also fill up on goodberries (you can eat up to 8)
Leepo Toggenburg |
Leepo gives her goodberry to Scritch and scratches him behind the ear. "You are doing good, buddy, but try to get hit less, ok?"
Leepo rearms her crossbow, and stands ready to follow, not really interested in being in the front line.
StephNyan |
@Oleander: No, there's no way to purchase one right now. You'd at least have to be in a town to purchase items.
Pooka spurs Luna into the next passage, and the others follow.
Megaliths
This wide area on the east side of Briar Henge has a roughly circular shape. Four tall, thin spires of ancient stone thrust up from the ground at irregular intervals like malformed teeth. To the west, two thicker stones are capped with a third horizontal stone, forming a crude gateway. A thick piece of charred bark is suspended in this gateway by a web of crackling energy. The crackling energy pulses outward from the bark into the dolmen stones, and from there into the ground.
Four half-elf druids chant and circle the stones as a part of their enigmatic ritual.
If you're going to approach carefully, roll stealth. The druids may or may not notice you while you approach this space, which determines if they're prepared or not when you arrive.
Oleander Anwamanë |
Silent as the night itself, Oleander slips into the glade. Circling around she looks for something she could use to push the bark out of the web of energy.

Assuming three things (1) Oleander is aware of the perilous state of Ludwick; (2) she has one of the goodberries at hand (I'm not sure if we actually allocated them out; (3) she can push through the thorn hedge as a move action -> then she will do that and feed Ludwick a goodberry to stop him dieing. Otherwise she'll snap off a couple of arrwos
Alternative 1: Oleander to the rescue
Cursing the stupid human for getting one-shotted, Oleander pushes through the thorns. Quickly she realises that ranger training and even light armour are no protection against the thorns. Bleeding from more wounds than she took in any fight, she pushes a magical goodberry into the alchemists mouth, hoping it will help stabilise him.
Alternative 2: Oleander the archer

--- Round 2 ---
AoO, Quarterstaff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Damage: 3d6 + 5 ⇒ (1, 1, 5) + 5 = 12
Pooka drops his current weapon and charges forward, provoking an attack from the red druid. The enlarged quarterstaff hits Pooka hard, and disables him. Due to being disabled Pooka cannot use a full-round action, and isn't able to execute his charge as planned. Luna still manages to carry Pooka all the way to his target.
If you are able to take only a standard action on your turn,
you can still charge, but you are only allowed to move up
to your speed (instead of up to double your speed) and you
cannot draw a weapon unless you possess the Quick Draw
feat. You can’t use this option unless you are restricted to
taking only a standard action on your turn.
@Pooka: Seems to me like you either draw your weapon, or you attack unarmed. What'll you do?
While the disabled Pooka figures out what to do, Luna bites the green druid.
Scritch moves up the the red druid, and inflicts several heavy wounds. the red druid goes down, shrinking back to her normal size.
Sun's target is dropped, and he redirects his attack to the nearest druid that's still standing: the yellow druid.

Pooka Bladespinner |
Finally have a computer that seems to be working. I created an alias for Luna, something I should have done along time ago, so she has her own icon now on the map for times like now when I am not mounted. Assuming I am not unconcious, can I eat a Goodberry next round to gain 1 HP back, so I can do more than lounge around feeling sorry for myself? This fight isn't going so well, and I am pretty sure if we lose then this character gets removed from PFS play due to his condition... Just want to make sure I am doing everything I can to make sure we all survive...
Oleander Anwamanë |
That is why I took the hit and went through the bushes. Although if I had known that Red was going down I could have made it elsewise. Ludwick being dead would have been sad.
StephNyan |
It's the other way around for my druid: her roc will become large at level 7, and until then they're always fighting side-by-side. When the roc's large I plan on using (flying) mounted combat with her!
Eating something is pretty much the same as drinking something, and drinking a potion is a standard action. Pooka would lose 1 HP for using a standard action while disabled, and regain 1 HP through eating the berry.
Pooka draws his flail, and quickly dismounts Luna.
The yellow druid enlarges swiftly, and takes a step toward Pooka. The flame she holds in her hand disappears, and she grabs hold of her quarterstaff with both hands. Her eyes moves from Pooka to Scritch, then to Luna.
