Still riding around, tilting at windmills...

![]() |

Awesome! I figured that was the case, but just wanted to make sure we're all still here ya know? I'd love to continue the experiment with you folks if you're all still interested.
@Fez: Welcome back! I hope your travels were pleasant.

No problem. Looking forward to the next adventure.
I've been checking around the site and the PFS guides and it doesn't look like Silver Crusade has a corollary in the nation-based factions. I think it may have been entirely new starting in season 6 or something. If any of you other guys have some insight that I'm missing, I'd be glad to hear you out on it.

Hey all. Before we start the second scenario, I'm looking at retooling Vindler a little bit. I'm thinking of switching him from Law Domain to Tactics Inquisition. That seems to fit well with the character and with what the team is working towards as far as teamwork goes. Just to give you an idea of what that would look like, here's a comparison of the level 1 abilities.
Touch of Law (Sp): You can touch a willing creature as a standard action, infusing it with the power of divine order and allowing it to treat all attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1 round as if the natural d20 roll resulted in an 11. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.
Inquisitor's Direction (Su): At the start of your turn, you can choose to enter a tranquil, reflective state and forgo all actions (standard, move, swift, immediate, and free actions, including attacks of opportunity) for that round; one ally of your choice within 30 feet gains the benefit of haste for 1 round. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to your 3 + Wisdom bonus (minimum 1).
The fun would continue at level 8, though, because, at that point, I'll be able to grant my Wisdom mod on initiative rolls to all allies within 30 feet. For the Law Domain, on the other hand, I'd be able to grant a weapon the axiomatic ability, which is really only situationally useful. Let me know if that sounds like a good plan.

Ultimately it's your choice, but I tend to think Touch of Law is fantastic. It is a standard, so Vindlér is free to move, and positioning is important for teamwork feats. In your reflective state you can't even take a 5' step.
As a recipient of a bonus, I'd prefer the ability to "take 11" on attacks and saves over Haste, since randomness typically works against the PCs. The ability can even be used out of combat on skill checks like UMD.
But again, whichever you think will be more fun for you. The level 8 ability is better than Law's level 8 ability.
I was also considering retooling, shifting ability scores to get 13 Int and switching Inspiring Blade and Dodge for Fast Learner and Improvisation (but keeping Shield Wall). That would give Anthys the ability to attempt any skill in the game with a base +2; skill checks are important for many scenarios. Thoughts?

![]() |

Yeah, skills can definitely be pretty key for a lot of scenarios, and you having access to all skills would definitely give us a lot of the variety that it seems like we're lacking at the moment.
I like the sound of the tactics inquisition, but I see your point about not having to deal with randomness. I may just put an extra level into Cavalier rather than going all the way to Inquisitor 8 so I don't have to deal with the lackluster domain ability. Haha.
In other news, I picked up a masterhood heavy wooden shield and a Wand of CLW with our winnings from this scenario. The shield will help make Shield Wall even more effective for us, and the wand...well...duh.

![]() |

Got wand of CLW for 2 pp, upgraded longsword to MW, and changed the ability scores and feats to get Improvisation.
His Perception is now better with 0 ranks than it was with 1.

![]() |

No re-working yet (although I see I never did pick traits!), but I will also pick up a MW lance and a wand of CLW.

![]() |

I have only occasional access the next few days but will check in at least once a day. Feel free to bot me for skill checks if needed! Anything at all at 2+ ability mod.

![]() |

Hey folks! Just wanted to let you know I'm gonna be out of town for a few days starting tonight. It'll just be over the weekend, and things tend to slow down a bit then anyway, but just wanted to give you a heads up. If we end up in combat while I'm gone, feel free to bot me.

![]() |

Haha. Good to know. Just wanted to give you the option if it came up.

![]() |

Has anybody not done the Confirmation before? If so, I'd hang back on the puzzle solving to let them do it. This is my fourth (first time with no mosquitoes).

Lol. I've played and run this several times so Alan will be hanging back unless there's combat or general rolls to be made.

![]() |

Forgot to respond to Anthys's question earlier, but I actually haven't played this scenario before! Yay for still being a n00b! Haha.
As for the optional encounters, I'm good with taking on the extra stuff. I can't deny that I have some completionist tendencies. It took me nearly a full year to play through Final Fantasy X because of that and I still didn't get absolutely everything there was to get (couldn't play Blitzball to save my life).

![]() |

Well then, we should definitely go back and deal with the gillman and the miniature city after this fight. There's some fun stuff to figure out.

![]() |

Sounds fun! Excited to be along for the ride with some more experienced folks!

![]() |

Alan, when our turns come around again, I'll ready a 5ft step back. On your turn you can 5ft forward and swap places with me. At least that way you'll be able to hit people over Anthys with your reach weapon. I can hang behind and give Guidance to help you hit. At least until we clear a path.

Hey folks, wanted to let you all know I'm gonna be out of town starting this evening and running through next Tuesday, Oct 11. I'll be fully back online next Wednesday. I'll have my phone with me at least, so I may still be able to put up short posts, but maybe not. I'll do my best at least to keep up with what's going on while I'm gone so I can jump right back in when I return. If I'm not able to post, I'll do my best to let you know and ask you to bot me until I return. Thanks!

![]() |

Finally back! Woof. Sorry for the long absence.

![]() |

So, not sure if you've seen the Paizo blog from today, but it looks like there's a new Evergreen coming out that'll be Tier 3-7. What's even more exciting, though, is that it can take place in Lastwall, among other places. So...since Anthys and Vindlér both have backgrounds tying them to Lastwall, could I request we add that one to the schedule when we hit that level in like a year? Haha

![]() |

Great going all! What next?
I was thinking maybe an evergreen module while we are still level 1 (so it wouldn't matter who had done it before).

![]() |

I'm a fan of modules. Any preferences about which one?
Also, since this is supposed to be an experiment around the viability of teamwork feats, how are you all feeling so far? I know Alan and Qioté haven't been able to benefit too much yet, but I'm enjoying having AC: Stupid along with Anthys. Haha.

GM Fez |

Masters of the Fallen Fortress is typically one of the three scenarios done to get through first level.
At these low of levels its a bit difficult to tell how the teamwork stuff is doing so far.
Sidenote: Slin is going to be busy in the upcoming months, so how would you guys feel about waiting for the second table to finish their scenario then having them join this for a full table of 6?

![]() |

MoFF sounds fun! I've never played it and it sounds interesting. I gotta say, I've really enjoyed the fact that these encounters have all been pretty local to Absalom. Seems very appropriate for fresh Pathfinders.
Sorry that Slin won't be able to carry on with us for the time being, but I'm all for the others joining up to give us some more variation in the tactics we see at the table.

![]() |

The teamwork is great so far, I also like the Lastwall pair holding strong against the enemy - feels thematic. Sorry to lose Alan, he would have been a great asset in the second rank while we kept attackers off of him. Qioté would like to be more mobile than our shield wall I know, but really got to shine against the minotaur. I've played a cavalier through Eyes in PFS (human on a horse) and it is awesome. You don't get to charge all the time but when you do it's a highlight. At level 2 Anthys can share Shake it Off, another defensive feat for tight formations. Then Lastwall Phalanx at 3.
Never played MoFF! Let's give it a go.
As to the other table, which ones would be joining us? And how is their teamwork? A broader range of capabilities would be great (especially magic). On the other hand, a 4-player party will finish scenarios faster. So I'd like to know more.

![]() |

Yah - that was fun! But I am still trying to work out how to best use the teamwork feats. I might change mine before level 2....
I am good with waiting for 6 or going with 4.

![]() |

Sounds good! Thanks, Fez!
