Locke "Firebug" Arkham |
Everyone careful, any fire is likely to cause the whole area to explode!” Kegan says, pointing to one of the barrels. “Those are the sort of symbols Locke should put on all their stuff.”
"As much of a spectacle such an explosion would be, you worry too much.
Whatever i carry on me, is not explosive until combined a specific way."Tereze Amnell |
if we are resting 8 hours, Tereze fully heals back up.
Tereze carefully moves onto the deck reaching into her pocket and pulling out a small copper coin.
She closes her hand for a moment and when she opens it again coin in her hand is glowing.

She looks at the webs hanging down for a moment then continues. Considering we may get in a sticky situation here, it might be of help to you.
Melisande Shahrizai Courcel |
Of course dear! I do always enjoy getting closer to my traveling companions. Melisande smiles and winks at Tereze.
Testudo Graeca |
Testudo and his mighty steed follow behind, the magic on the turtle allowing him to squeeze through with a "Plop!" as he moves. He gives a small whine and glares up at his rider.
I know roshi, but would you rather I leave you behind?
With a snort, the mount follows behind as Testudo looks around.
I say... He says, his voice uncharacteristically quite. Sticky does indeed seem to describe our current situation, quite appropo what what!
He hefts his lance and looks around for enemies, prepared and on alert.

Locke, Melisande, and Tetsudo all spot one large sized spider lurking in webbing up on the ceiling of the hold; the creature stock still in the eerie light given off by Tereze's spell. As the trio orient and begin to react to the spider's presence, five other much-more-stealthy spiders eluded the Pathfinder's search and surprise the group!
Two of the spiders fire sticky strands of webbing that swiftly clog the stairwell leading up to the deck behind the group. The remaining trio of spiders fire webs at the front line in an attempt to tangle their victims! A shot of webbing misses Tetsudo badly, striking the floor in front of Roshi (much to the turtle's displeasure). Tereze and Aryxis are not quite so lucky, as the other two shots of webbing hit the pair directly; entangling the two Pathfinders within the strands.

Kegan's strike lands on the spider, dealing it a bit of damage as green ichor drips down onto the floor from its wound. Melisande's spell seems to coat two of the spider's coal-black eyes in glitter more intensely, while covering all of their carapaces with a shiny layer of dust.
Aryxis and Tereze struggle against the webbing entangling them, but find themselves unable to break free!
It is a standard action to attempt Strength checks or Escape Artist checks to break free. Aryxis, I will unfortunately have to take the first roll you made, which is unsuccessful. Tereze's life link with Melisande is not yet established due to the unsuccessful Escape Artist check made on her turn.
Ehem, I mean, DIE FOUL BEAST!
Tetsudo's first strike pierces the carapace of the spider, causing it to fall from the webbing on the ceiling and crash to the floor with a loud splat! He reorients on the next spider within range, damaging it with a second thrust of his lance. Roshi attempts to nip, but is unsuccessful in his attempt.
The three spiders in the rear of the boat fire off web bolts again, one splatting into Tetsudo and Melisande this time; while the third bolt aimed towards Roshi misses badly and splats against the wall of the hold. The two blinded spiders advance, moving unerringly despite the blinding glitter in their eyes. One descends from the ceiling and attempts to attack Kegan. This is a terrible mistake for the insect, however, as the swashbuckler deftly parries the creature's attack and thrusts his rapier critically through its head to kill it instantly. The other spider adjusts forward five feet to engage Tetsudo, its bite unable to pierce through the turtle knight's armor.

Aryxis slashes at the webs with his sword, cutting them away easily. He advances forward to keep the pressure up on the spiders and prevent them from advancing towards the groups rear guard. Tereze tries to cut her way out with her dagger, but still has a bit to go before she is free. Tetsudo, while entangled in the webs, isn't exceptionally concerned about the situation because he just spurs the turtle forward to move for him; the animal moving carefully around the explosive barrels instead of charging haphazardly forward, though the animal pointedly squishes the unconscious spider as it moves over it. The turtle knight deals a powerful blow to the next nearest spider, while Roshi finishes off the insect with a bite that rips several of the creature's appendages off.
The remaining spiders attempt to bite back and turn the tide, but do not have exceptional results. The spider next to Tetsudo attempts to bite him, but is still unable to pierce through his armor. The two spiders towards the far end of the hold engage Aryxis, one missing badly while the other manages to land a painful bite upon him!

Kegan strides forward and skewers his spider target through its head with his rapier, causing it to die instantly! Meanwhile, the remain spider dies as well between the arrow shot from Locke and the might slash of Aryxis' sword. The group is left by themselves now in the silence of the hold, surrounded by dead spider corpses.

In response to Locke’s question, he says “I’m fine, fortunately they never bit me.” He does take a drink of water, swirling it around in his mouth a bit before spitting it out. “That antitoxin taste every bit as awful as I feared! I don’t think I want to know what they used to produce it.”
He makes no comment when Locke takes charge of identifying the potion, instead continuing the search.
When the logbook is found, he frowns for a moment after reading it. “I was hoping there would be no betrayals...” he mummers to himself, before asking “Anyone good at deciphering codes?”

The vials contain a very thin, oily scarlet liquid that gives off a strong cinnamon scent; but tastes like a very odd chicken flavor. You identify these three potions as potions of lesser restoration. Based on your awareness of Kegan's antitoxin, there is an approximate 90% chance these potions were made by the same alchemist as the one he visited in town; though you believe the quality is a little better with these potions and won't result in odd side effects.
Congratulations, you found the Osirion faction mission!
Congratulations, you found the Andoran faction mission!
Locke "Firebug" Arkham |
"Useful, these three are lesser restoratives. If any of the spiders, or whatever we might still face, weaken any of us, these can limit the effects."
That antitoxin taste every bit as awful as I feared! I don’t think I want to know what they used to produce it.

Craft alchemy, special medicine for Kegan: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
After mixing some ingredients into a flask, adding a pinch of some powder, the liquid inside turns slightly syrupy. Locke holds it up for Kegan.
"I think you will benefit from a medicine against that backwater screwbrew."
"It is perfectly safe, and tastes like 'pomegranate'."
(looks slightly past Kegan at Melisande)
Kegan the Chaotic |
Kegan grimaces at the mention of bowel side effects, but then grins when Locke offers a way to avoid it.
“Thank you, Locke!” He drinks it down, then asks “Is that really what that fruit tastes like? I would have expected there to be some tartness to it.”
Melisande Shahrizai Courcel |
Pomegranate is definitely tart. Maybe Locke has never actually tasted it and needs to try some? Melisande raises an eyebrow speculatively at Locke.
Locke "Firebug" Arkham |
..whose merely chuckles.
"I have and, regretfully to say, i ran out of sweet fruit powders, so yes, other fruits were the go to. It beats the taste of the mess mister Kegan had to consume from that poorly brewed antidote."
"I generally use powdered extracts of, (counts on fingers) Banana, grapes, raspberry, pear, and strawberry."
Kegan the Chaotic |
“I prefer pears over bananas, but almost anything would taste better than the concoction that alchemist in town sold me. I seriously considered risking the poison rather than it.”
Tereze Amnell |
Tereze leans over and stage whispers to Kegan:
His Straberry flavor is ze best. Just so you know.
Then she says at her normal voice.
Aryxis, Have you found anything yet? If not, maybe we should move on?
Aryxis |
"The barrel apparently contains medicinal supplies so it could be worth a look. The logbook has a lot of … interesting … information about some Andoran officials. We can keep this for later I think."
He packs it away in his pack and nods his readiness to the others.

The group, having finished their investigations and discussions, turns to ascend back to the deck...and abruptly entangle themselves in webs.
Two of the spiders fire sticky strands of webbing that swiftly clog the stairwell leading up to the deck behind the group.
Lolz.
After swiftly clearing out the stairwell by Aryxis and Tetsudo, the group ascends back to the deck. The crew of The Scrag Fisher appear to be either engaged in cleaning tasks or playing cards on several overturned barrels. Riverbane stands at the helm, alertly scanning the horizon in either direction on the river on watch for any trouble. As such, she is the first to spot the Pathfinders returning from their investigation.
"Ho, Pathfinders!" she calls out loudly, causing several of the pirates to startle. "That wasn't too long at all, was it? Find anything interesting?" Riverbane asks. "If not, we can continue sailing up the river to the vault."
Kegan the Chaotic |
“Lady Riverbane, do you recognize any of the people who attacked or the cog they were on?” Kegan asks. Even if she lies, this should be interesting.

Unmasking seems worth a parfait no matter what. Let us see, you are a tall goblin, no a small Orgre, or I know, a giant gnome!
She teases right back.
Then later she adds to Riverbane.
It looks like ze last zing in the Log Book was ze fact zat zey arrived here and were waiting for more orders.
Kegan the Chaotic |
Now it gets interesting!
Did the ship get taken while waiting here, or was this an ambush set by Lady Riverbane? She seems like she would have at least gotten competent sailors, so I am genuinely curious what she will say.
Kegan waits to hear what Lady Riverbane has to say.
