I do not think we searched 14 so I of course head straight for the Wine Cellar. If we have I head to the Stables because I would have had Diane hide in or around the stables since I would be concerned that she might have to kill the dogs in the kennel if she was around there.
Fung Xi |
We were saving 14, mostly because of Fung Xi's unspoken concern about being trapped below, while nefariousness goes on above... ;p
Dora D Asplora |
When Dora sees Oscar heading downstairs, she will follow him...(to 14 or as far as they get).
"Oh Oscar, is the tour moving back downstairs already?"
Tarondor |
The cool, dark wine cellar has a flagstone floor and walls covered with light gray ceramic tiles. Its irregularly shaped walls and alcoves are lined with dusty shelves that hold an impressive array of wine bottles. Propped up against the far west wall are two naked forms, both covered with fresh blood. Though both are clearly female, their faces have been chewed away entirely, leaving them both unidentifiable.
Fung Xi |
Fung grimaces, inspecting their bodies. Heal skill +13, if it helps to glean any further information. Looking for possible info on what we might be up against. "It might be my imagination going crazy, but I have a feeling that something has stolen the place of these two young women upstairs."
Inquisitor Oscar |
Ah think you are right. Ah wonder if ah can spot the lines of the face. If'n we can find anything unusual about them like hair color, size or somethin' then we can try an' identify the killah.
I look to take in details that might detect the person who is being mimic'ed like hair shades, height and weight, etc. Do I remember anyone with similar appearance markers?
Dora D Asplora |
Dora regrets she did not replace her scroll of blood biography .
"Ewww. This is definitely not cool. We have got to stop them before more are slaughtered . "
Kale Aldori |
Kale grows pale at the sight of the mutilated bodies, "Vhat monster did this to those poor vomen?" She kneels before the bodies, her hands visibly shaking, taking a moment to recompose herself. When she raises to her feet, her color has returned and he sword hand is steady.
"Quickly, the guests must be in danger!"
Dora D Asplora |
"Indeed Master Ayaki! Lets get back to the party before something terrible happens."
I was trying to remember, but seems like we have only our formal court clothing for the party? I am not sure if we were able to stable animal companions nearby? Dora's wolf would be outside someplace, presumably.
Inquisitor Oscar |
Ah think some of us should check the outbuidins' while the rest start lookin to see if any of the servants might be ah match for these two in case ther' is somethin out there. Diane is outside an' I would like to check on her.
Tarondor |
The bit about tuxes and evening gowns was just fluff. You're in full adventuring gear. Assume that anything in the face slot (goggles, for instance) are stowed away and assume that you are not wearing your backpacks. But armor, weapons, wands, etc. are all with you. No animal companions are present, though they may be stabled or wandering about in the night if you want to take time to go get them. Though not right now...

Just as you begin to examined the mutilated corpses, you notice another body in one of the alcoves. Part of your mind registers that the corpse in the alcove bears no signs of injury, and that allows you to act when the surprise comes.
The surprise comes when Kale approaches the mutilated bodies. A ghostly form darts out of the basement wall with a shriek and attacks Kale! At the same time, the corpse in the alcove rises up and shambles forward, its long black tongue flickering over pearl-white teeth.

Alphonse (only), go!
Al Elric |
Alphonse recognizes the incorporeal form and takes a step back as he draws various alchemical components and then hurls a flask at the creature.
Bomb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 223d6 + 5 ⇒ (3, 2, 6) + 5 = 16
I forgot to put up my discoveries. When I get home I will throw those up. I do know I have precise bombs, like any responsible society alchemist, so I should exclude any friendlies from splash, unless I miss.
Tarondor |
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 191d6 ⇒ 11d6 ⇒ 3
Alphonse's bomb hits its target. Or rather, the floor under the target, for it sails straight through the ghostly figure and explodes, causing the wraith to waver slightly. The explosion does no harm to Kale. As the bomb's thunder rolls through the basement, the Pathfinders recall their instructions not to alarm the guests.
Then the evil spirit lashes out, its gloved hands entering the Swordlord's chest, clutching at something within Kale's breast she can't identify but which alarms her greatly. The touch is like having ice poured into her soul. "Life!" it moans. "Blood and souls for my beloved mistress!"
Kale has suffered 1 point of cold damage and 3 points of CON drain. Kale, please reflect these on your stats line.
Fung Xi, Oscar, Ayaki, go!
[Map unchanged]
Ayaki |
should I casts lead blades? No Mistress Kale needs me.
Ayaki 5ft steps W and power attacks the spectre. +4 to AC for the enemy
power greatsword: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 2 = 12
damage: 2d6 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (6, 1) + 11 + 2 = 20
2 hits corporeal: 1d2 ⇒ 1
power greatsword 2: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 2 = 16
damage: 2d6 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (4, 1) + 11 + 2 = 18
2 hits corporeal: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Out if Habit Ayaki also snaps at the creatures with his beak. Sadly all three of his attacks miss.
Dora D Asplora |
Ayaki, isn't incorporeal just half damage for magic weapons in PF? No miss chance right, or am I confused. Also if the wraith managed to touch Kale, does she still get a save? Reason I ask is that Dora can support save rerolls with bard song and spell...once she starts singing...so no help this time but might matter next time. .
Ayaki |

You are right Dora, only effects that do not do damage fall under that rule. So half damage if either if my attacks hit.
Tarondor |
Dora is right. An Incorporeal creature takes no damage from non-magical attacks, full damage from channeling and half damage from all other corporeal sources.
Dora is also right that I forgot to give Kale a saving throw vs. the wraith's Constitution drain.
Kale's saving throw (DC 19): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 <- Nope. Drain occurs as above.
Inquisitor Oscar |
Oscar calls upon his deity and a hunting knife appears and strikes at the wraith. He then draws his sword and steps towards the corporeal undead.
Spiritual Weapon: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 231d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
After I cast I 5 ft north and draw my rhoka.
Fung Xi |
Moving like the winds themselves, Fung Xi whisks past his friends to the square next to Kale! "Lady Kale!"
When he steps in, the monk swivels at his waist, coming in with a sweeping uppercut! "Winds of the South burn and tear at the weak!"
Unarmed Strike w/ Elemental Fist (fire), Combat Expertise: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 9 - 2 = 20 Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 5 + (4, 4) = 17
Amulet of Mighty Fists +1; touch AC -> 21; AC -> 23
Dora D Asplora |
Fung Xi - I think Master Ayaki is already in that square, but if the monk technically goes first, then the Tengu cannot move there.
Fung Xi |
I'm first in order, and it will be better for me to face the wraith, as I have the highest touch AC.
"Ayaki, help Oscar with the skeleton-thingie, I'll help Lady Kale!"
Tarondor |
Mohrg claw: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 212d8 + 5 ⇒ (3, 5) + 5 = 13
Mohrg claw: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 172d8 + 5 ⇒ (1, 8) + 5 = 14
Mohrg tongue: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
The wraith darts out of the way of Fung Xi's fist. Oscar's spiritual hunting knife grazes it slightly.
The walking corpse shambles down the alcove, reaching for Oscar with steel-hard claws. Both claws rake across the inquisitor's armor with no effect. Then the creature's mouth opens wide, its jaw falling to its chest with an unholy snarl. A thick purplish tongue lashes out at Oscar's face, but he manages to turn it aside with his weapon when it is only inches from his face.
Ayaki, Dora, Kale, go!
Ayaki |
Ayaki follows the orders given to him by his Countryman, and moves to assist the Andoran.
Free: Ayaki quick draws his Great Sword
Move: SE,E,NE
Standard: attack monster around hard corner (+4 AC for monster) Power attack greatsword: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 + 2 = 27
slashing damage: 2d6 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (2, 5) + 11 + 2 = 20
He screams in his native tongue as he slashes at the creature.
"再び紫舌モンスターを死ぬ"
Kale Aldori |
Kale lets out a cry as the creatures cold hand enters her chest. In a flash her sword is in her hand. Giving off a pale red light. "You'll pay for that creature!"
She takes a defensive stance and swings at the creature.
Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Attack 1: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25 Damage 1: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Attack 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 Confirmation Roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 Damage 2: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (3, 6) + 10 = 19
She deftly steps backwards her blade ready if it should come at her again.
Tarondor |
Ayaki thrusts his blade over Oscar's shoulder with remarkable precision, stabbing the walking corpse through the shoulder.
Kale draws her sword and attacks in a single fluid motion that blurs her hands and dazzles the eye. Twice her magical aldori dueling sword strikes the semi-material monster, causing it to shriek and howl.
Fung Xi recognizes this as a wraith, though one faster and more powerful than he would expect. It is powerless in sunlight. The other creature he theorizes is a type of mohrg, a fleshy undead whose tongue carries a paralytic poison.
MAP OF THE FIDDLEMOURN MANOR WINE CELLAR
Dora, Alphonse, go!
Fung Xi |
"Whoa..." Fung steps back amazed as his companion weaves her blade around her in a fluid pattern creating a wall of blades! The familiar smile begins to creep back onto his face, "Watch out! This is much more powerful than a normal wraith, but it should be powerless in sunlight! The other one is a morgh! Be wary of its tongue! It could paralyze you!"
Dora D Asplora |
Dora will begin an inspiring song +2/+2 attack/damage for everyone.
"Stab and slash the unholy undead. Send them back to their rotting bed!"
She draws her own sword from her magic scabbard (+2) and moves north to help against the Morgh. (Not sure where everyone ended up, but if she can get into melee with the creature she will.
"Morgh! I will send you to the morgue you bag of worms!"
As a swift action she challenges the morgh. +1 for allies to hit it - on top of the +2 from bardsong
[edit]Per map, put her east of Oscar.[/edit]
Tarondor |
Dora, please look at the MOST RECENT MAP and tell me where you go.
I will wait a few more hours for Alphonse.
Fung Xi |
Explosive Missile: As a standard action, the alchemist can infuse a single arrow, crossbow bolt, or one-handed firearm bullet with the power of his bomb, load the ammunition, and shoot the ranged weapon. He must be proficient with the weapon in order to accomplish this. When the infused ammunition hits its target, it deals damage normally and detonates as if the alchemist had thrown the bomb at the target. If the explosive missile misses, it does not detonate. An alchemist must be at least 4th level before selecting this discovery. -From Ultimate Combat
Al Elric |
Yeah that lol. Sorry I had to deal with some family stuff so couldn't do a follow up post. My normal shtick is use a tangklefoot bomb, imbue it into my bolt, use focused shot, and do 1d8+1 from the crossbow, +1 if point blank shot applies, 3d6+5 from the bomb, and +5 from the focused shot feat.
So attack:
Crossbow attack: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 4 = 23
confirmation: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 4 = 23
sssssssweet
Damage: 2d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8, 7) + 2 + 1 = 186d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 2, 4, 1) = 18
I'm not sure if the +5 from bomb damage and the +5 from the focused shot feat(basically add my int modifier to damage with a single ranged attack) would be multiplied here. I've never critted on a bomb so I will defer to the gm here. Please add whatever damage you think is appropriate.
Tarondor |
I believe that both static modifiers are indeed doubled with a critical hit. As I understand the CRITICAL HIT RULE, everything except precision damage and additional damage dice from special weapon qualities are included in the doubling.
I'm not sure where your +2 damage comes from, but the +1 from magic crossbow also doubles. So I see the damage as ((15+2+2)+((18+5)x2))=65 points of damage.
Also, don't forget the bonuses from Dora. +3 to hit, +2 (doubled) for damage. Meaning he did 69 points of damage. 69, Dude!
Now the only question is: who the heck was Alphonse shooting at? I'm going to assume the mohrg.
Incorporeal touch: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Incorporeal touch cold damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Dora's Fortitude save (DC 19): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
______________________________________________________________
Dora calls out a challenge to the walking dead. It turns its attention to her just as Alphonse darts behind Oscar and fires over the inquisitor's shoulder, having merged an alchemical bomb into his crossbow quarrel. The bolt leaps the short distance across the wine cellar and slams into the mohrg's chest, exploding from within. Fire bursts forth from the creature's chest, eyes and mouth in an astonishing display of pyrotechnics.
Horribly, despite the devastating damage to its once-living form, the monster continues to shuffle forward, seeking Oscar with its drooling tongue.
The wraith fades into the stone wall, re-emerging next to Dora, and attacks the Herald, reaching into her chest with hands as cold as death. Dora howls, but holds onto her soul.
4 points of cold damage to Dora.

Ayaki |
Impressed by the weird fellows shot, Ayaki attacks normally around the corner (+4 AC)
greatsword: 1d20 + 2 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 10 = 30

damage: 1d3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 2 = 6
5ft step South
Inquisitor Oscar |
Oscar imbues his weapon to slay undead as he swings at the Morhg and the spiritual weapon zips over to attack the wraith.
Rd 1/6 for Bane Undead. I believe Bard song adds to Spiritual weapon attacks, but not damage. So I have added the +3 to hit, not the +2 damage. For my swing I power attack for -2 to hit and +4 damage, +3 to hit and +2 damage from Bard Song, and +2 to hit and damage for Bane.
Spiritual Weapon: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 201d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Rhoka: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 201d8 + 2d6 + 13 ⇒ (2) + (4, 3) + 13 = 22
Fung Xi |
Fung scrambles toward the wraith, vaulting over Alphonse, "Excuse me, my friend! I need to get in there!" E, E, S, E, S, leaving the center square for Kale to move into.
As he lands, the monk springs back up with a hopping crescent kick!
Unarmed Strike w/Combat Expertise: 1d20 + 9 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 9 - 2 + 2 = 18 Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 2 = 14 Touch AC -> 21
Tarondor |
I did indeed forget Fung Xi's AoO. Here it is, retroactively.
Fung Xi's AoO v. Wraith: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 9 - 2 = 81d8 + 5 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 5 + (5, 6) = 22 <- Miss.
_____________________________________________________________________
Ayaki thrusts his greatsword past Oscar and into the mohrg's brain, destroying it instantly. Alas, poor mohrg. Ye never got to paralyze anyone.
Oscar turns and with a gesture, hurls his spiritual weapon against the wraith, but it rings off the stonework nearby. Fung Xi pursues the wraith, but his high kick cuts through only air.
Oscar, since your target died before you could go, you may restate your actions. Note that your spiritual weapon has already attacked.
Inquisitor Oscar |
Ok, I would move S, SW which should put me in front of the wraith. I would do Bane Undead still and attack with the power attack. So if you want to use the same roll that works for me.
