Ayaki
|
Ayaki, how do you approach Lord Rothos, and what do you say?
Ayaki extends his talon in token of friendship to Lord Rothos.
"Judging by the medals on your chest and your uncanny bearing, I can surmise that you are a great warrior."
Ayaki points to the commanders fanciest decoration and states.
"I am not conversant in much of the combat campaigns here in Avistan, It would be an honor if you could tell me of some of your more notable accomplishments. I love hearing the tales of insurmountable odds in the face of death, and your ability to use climate, terrain, and your opponents lack of honor against them. Perhaps we can exchange a few tales?"
Ayaki breaks his gaze then looks back at the commander.
"Though I believe your accomplishments will dwarf my own."
| Tarondor |
Lord Rothos turns to regard Ayaki, his professional eye taking in the armor and weapons. If he is surprised to be shaking hands with a talking bird, the old campaigner does not betray it. "The medals go with the uniform," he says. "Bragging does not. I am a soldier. I guard Absalom. And you, Mister...?"
Despite his brusque tone, Ayaki believes that Lord Rothos is happy to be speaking to someone who might not be a fop.
Ayaki
|
"Bragging does not. I am a soldier. I guard Absalom. And you, Mister...?"
"Ayaki. I am Ayaki, though I may be a bit too young to call mister. I have traveled from the city of Goka by way of Minkai at the request of Lady Amara Li."
Ayaki looks at the man to see if he has heard of Amara Li, before continuing.
"To be honest I am a humble foreign field agent of the Pathfinder Society. I am only here on leave from the depths of Thornkeep before delving deeper into its crypts in an attempt at revealing more of its secrets. I have a bit of wanderlust that seems to be sated by traveling on dangerous expeditions."
Ayaki realizes that he is rambling and asks
"Have you ever been to the River Kingdoms? Two new countries were founded in the week I was exploring underground. I bet another will rise and fall while I am here. Although I have done some excavating here in Absalom, things are much more stable here probably on account of the First Guard ."

Alphonse realizes that he has no skill in being able to discern any advantage from this woman from his knowledge.
I'm not sure. But if you have any ideas My Lady Kale I would be happy to use them in a discussion with this woman. My knowledge is more at home with the forces of nature and magic unfortunately...OH! Perhaps she likes cats?! Ambrose would love to meet...
Alphonse suddenly remembers he left his feline friends back at his room before coming to the party.
O never mind...I have no ideas.
Fung Xi
|
Fung laughs, "The intentions of the Ten often elude me, but speaking for myself, I hope to open a school, but unlike others that have come before me, I wish for my school to succeed. For that, I will need a sound business plan. Being relatively new to Absalom, perhaps you would see it in your interest to help me navigate the sea of economy here..."

Kale moved to Observe Lady Vaelia w/ Al see previous post for rolls.
A little annoyed with Al, "So much for your skills then elf. Perhaps you should just go get us some drinks. You did offer to be escorting us this evening."
| Tarondor |
Kale recalls that Lady Vaelia’s husband and three sons all died thirty-six years ago when Qadiran raiders crept across the Jalrune river and attacked their estate. As a result, she is the leader of a small but growing cadre of Taldan nobles who want to obstruct any further efforts to send Taldan troops to far away Mendev. Add to this Lady Morilla's information about how Lady Vaelia pulled strings to be at this feast, and Kale becomes convinced that the bitter and angry old woman will never see fit to aid the Pathfinders in this manner.

Scion Lord Serkis looks searchingly at Fung Xi. "A school. That is a good idea, Master Fung. Too little heed is paid to the education of our people. Perhaps you should consider a cartage business. The world's ships beat a path to Absalom's door, but few want to move the goods into the interior, despite the wealth of small villages and farms across the island. I have often thought that with a few years of hard work, a profitable business might be set up in this regard."
Fung Xi can EITHER attempt to influence the Scion Lord through a Knowledge (local) check) OR he can attempt some insight into the man's character by means of either a Knowledge (nobility) or a Sense Motive check.
Fung Xi
|
Fung will first scrutinize to discover the best approach, as none of the guest really jives with his personality. Caution in his approach. ^_^
"Oh, I am no master yet, Scion Lord, but it is a goal to which I aspire. Your insight is much appreciated, and I will proceed to make it so."

"Have you heard about the Great Cherry Blossom Battle in Hongal against the Onis? I hope that you can assist us in ridding the world of all sorts of Demons like the Hongals did on the steppe that day."
| Tarondor |
By observation, Fung Xi comes to recognize that Lord Kerkis is a socially cautious man who does not suffer loud boors, but he also has an obvious distaste for Lady Vaelia and finds her anti-Kelishite bigotry distasteful. Fung Xi believes this personality quirk may be the key to influencing the Scion Lord.
Fung Xi, and any Pathfinder to whom he conveys this information gain a +4 bonus to future attempts to influence Lord Kerkis, provided they use this information in an appropriate way.

Drinks are a specialty of mine. Have fun with the darling woman. I will turn my attention at our next forray to the more arcane orientated fellow. Perhaps my knowledge will actually provide insight there.
Alphonse fetches a nice aged scotch for himself and the most froo froo drink he can find for his esteemed companion. He tops the drink with a small umbrella and a slice of pineapple. He finds his way back to Kale and presents it like a kingly gift with the flourish of a bow full from the waist.
Your beverage milady. The bartender assured me that it was the finest respite on the menu.
Dora D Asplora
|
If it looks as if Lord Rothos is speaking with Avaki, Dora will approach one of the others. She will stay with Rothos if there seems to be anything more to be done to gain his support.
If not, she nods politely and mingles over to Dremdhet Salhar is
"Beautiful evening to you both. That is a wonderful matching set of silk robes. For as often as a travel on diplomatic missions, I have never really had the chance to travel to Orision. I really must make it there soon. Oh, pardon my manners. I am Dora. It is a pleasure to meet with you both on this momentous occasion." She bows respectfully to both the Ambassador and Lady Salhar."[/b]
If a diplomacy is needed to start, Dora can make a roll or take 10. She is interested in getting them talking of their homeland and how important it is to protect their interests there if hostilities in the northern campaign should spread.
Kale Aldori
|
Kale will accept the drink and scowl at it. Leaving it untouched, it will find its way left forgotten on a nearby table. She eyes Kerkis and the woman who stands near him with interest.
Ayaki
|
"Your assistance is appreciated Lord Rothos, sadly I must take my leave and find others willing to aide the cause."
With that Ayaki bows low to Lord Rothos, and turns to see where his companions have gone. He is very proud of himself for winning troops and ships for the cause.
If only all humans were like this man.
Dora D Asplora
|
If the actions are not mutually exclusive, Dora would try to observe and take what she finds to try to influence them. If she can only do one or the other, she will be more direct and try to influence with diplomacy +14.
Fung Xi
|
Fung excuses himself, thanking the Scion Lord again for his advice and support. He looks to find his new friends, to share his findings...
| Tarondor |
Dora D Asplora
|
Dora will try the diplomatic approach.
" my diplomatic missions have mostly been in hostile situations. Not nearly to the politics you must have to navigate. There was this time dealing with the Crown Prince of Jalmeray and an evil cult. Once evil invades your kingdom, it is very difficult to expell it again. You know we could really count on your assistance with this urgent campaign before it comes to your doorstep. "

lol - If you cannot schmooze as a female bard, you are in the wrong line of work..
Fung Xi
|
To be honest, I didn't start putting points into Diplomacy until I got the Brother title from Lantern Lodge, then I have been putting points into it since. :) Monks aren't usually very diplomatic. ;)
Kale Aldori
|
Well at least you have a bonus Fung. All i have social wise is Intimidate... for some reason I don't think that would be too helpful.
Dora D Asplora
|
"Excellent work, Ayaki. I really wanted to hear the stories he had to tell as it is a personal interest of mine as well. But I saw you were doing quite well and we needed to persuade more of the sponsors. I poured on the charm with the Osirion ambassador but I am not convinced they are on board with the campaign. "
Fung Xi
|
Fung approaches his conversing companions, "I have opened the door to the Scion Lord's good side, but he is not onboard yet. I have discovered that he does not like the Taldan Lady Vaelia and her anti-Keleshite sentiment. Perhaps that could be of use in influencing him. I would make the attempt, but I just feel dirty using that to manipulate him...
| Tarondor |
"And why should Osirion be interested in a war so far away across the ocean?" Dremdhet Salhar asks Dora. "There are many in my country who feel that this is a matter for the Avistani to deal with. They say we have enough troubles of our own."
Nonetheless, as Dora's arguments unfold, the Grand Ambassador finally inclines his head. "I am of a mind to agree with your position," he tells her.
You needed two Influence to recruit Dremdhet Salhar, but Dora got them both with that roll!
Senator Naran- 0 Influence
Lady Vaelia - Impossible
Lady Dyrianna of House Avenstar- 0 Influence
Lord Rothos - Success
Scion Lord Kerkis of House Damaq- 0 Influence
Lady Darchana of House Madinani- 0 Influence
Grand Ambassador Dremdhet Salhar- Success
| Tarondor |
At this point, Senator Naran arrives, fashionably late in the company of his beautiful and much younger fifth wife, Dalessa. The senator is in good spirits. He immediately seizes a glass of wine and begins gladhanding those around him.

Okay, once again. Every pick a guest and tell me whether you will study this guest or try to influence him/her directly. Also tell me if you are working with another PC on this.
Fung Xi
|
Fung will approach Lady Dyrianna, "Lady Dyrianna," the young monk bows in the Tien style, "No doubt you already know why we are here, being blessed by the Savored Sting. What can we do to secure your support in the war up North?"
Fung is hoping to catch her off-guard with simple honesty. His knowledge of religion would tell him that she is a keeper of secrets, and so attempting to manipulate her would be sheer folly.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Dora D Asplora
|
Dora will move to try and influence Scion Lord Kerkis of House Damaq.
"Hello Scion Lord Kerkis. It is an incredible honor to meet a person of such a powerful position in the administration. I am certain everyone here is trying to get an audience with you for just a minute. I will not trifle you with small talk. We will need your assistance in this critical campaign, as someone of your station would know how much us at stake should the war spread to our fair city. By the way, you are both looking splendid. Such impeccable taste. "
She is trying to flatter as she tries to persuade him based on his dress and accessories. Let me know if that is more of a bluff or diplomacy or something else.
Kale Aldori
|
Kale moves up to Dora's arm and tries to assist her. "Scion Lord Kerkis, I am the Duchess Kale Aldori of House Orlovsky from the land of Brevoy, I vish let you to know that House Orlovsky fully supports the campaign my companion Dora here speaks of."
Kale would like to use the aid another action.
| Inquisitor Oscar |
Oscar approaches Senator Naran and says, "Senator Naran its a pleasure to meet ya. I am a big supporter of your work in Andor."
I am trying to use Diplomacy to influence him.
