Diane, get that winged woman!
I then cast bless defensively and Diane 5 foots SW and full attacks in the flank. Also remember I have +1 to all saves for each adjacent ally. Sadly, Diane lacks the Bless, but the non-animal companions among us will get it if the defensive casting works. +2 for Flanking is added in.
Cast Bless Defensively: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 Failed, no bless. :(
Talon: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 111d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Talon: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 241d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 191d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Kale turns around to face the woman behind her.
Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Her posture suddenly changes in an instant as her sword, already in hand, slashes upward. The blade seems to blaze a brighter red as it swings viciously at the winged creature,(Woman 'B') weaving a steal net around her. "Fýrdraca Fængtóþ, taste the blood of these creatures!"
Power Attacking w/ Fighting Defensively
Attack: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 11 + 2 = 191d8 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 2 = 191d8 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

Fung Xi cannot 5' step into the proposed square. The chair in that square makes it difficult terrain. Please submit new orders
Kale has no idea who or what these interlopers are. The horns and tails suggest something from the "not-good" side of the Great Beyond, of course.
Sorry, forgot to mention that the doorway is partial cover, and thus grants a +2 AC (and +1 Reflex save) to anyone on the other side.
______________________________________________________________
Oscar's spell fizzles on his lips and although his saurian companion rakes and bites the myserious winged woman, she proves impervious. Her supple skin is as hard as stone.
Kale finds fighting through the doorway to be frustrating, and both her shots are blocked at the last instant by the winged woman's sword.
Ayaki scrapes the thick glue off his legs and glowers at the traitorous gnome.
Fung Xi, new orders, please!

![]() |

Ok, instead, Fung uses his move action to hop on to the plush chair. As he steps up on the back, it tips over, and the monk slides, down, kicking the legs out from under the woman!
Should I keep my previous roll for the Trip attempt?

Fung Xi leaps up and cuts the woman's legs out from under her. With an indignant yawp! she collapses in a shapely heap of weapons, wings and legs.
Tesperen's Will save: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 2 = 28
The rattled gnome regains his senses and shouts "Look out! These are just the first and least! They..." His mouth clamps shut of its own accord and Tesperen stands very still.
Dora, go!

![]() |

Dora continues her song (free +2 atk/+2 dmg to all allies) while Boots to continues attacking the winged lady in the hall.
"Sick her Bootsie!"
Dora invokes her cavalier tactics (std action) "Precise Strike" for her allies. All flanking attacks do an extra 1d6 damage.
Dora then 5' steps West (south of Ayaki) and turns back to the gnome.
"Tesperen...who? Where are they? Team, flank them, surround them and strike for their vitals!"
Not sure if Boots is flanking with Alphonse, add +2 if applicable. Boots also has combat reflexes if it should matter. If flanking add 1d6 and trip.
+1 bite, inspired: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 2 = 17 for dmg: 1d6 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 = 10 and Trip vs CMD if hits.

Tarondor |

I have been doing some research on Flanking. My own gut reaction was that the presence of the wall would forestall the flanking. But I find no support for that in the rules or commentary. Instead, the test seems to be whether both threaten the target and are on opposite sides. So, yes. Boots is flanking with Alphonse.
Boots's Trip attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 22
Boots's extra damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Boots attacks the winged woman at the door, drawing some of her too-pink blood, and drags her down.
Meanwhile, the winged woman in the corner (A) smiles at Kale and gently suggest "Your arms are so heavy. You deserve a rest. Why not drop both your swords, dear?"
Kale's Will save (unreasonable suggestion): 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 + 2 = 13
Something about this seems wrong to Kale, but she can't for the life of her say what. After a moment's indecision, she throws her weapons to the floor.
In the hallway, the winged woman rises, and both wolf and dinosaur attack, savaging her badly.
Diane's AoO (to hit, damage): 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 2 + 2 = 251d8 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 + 2 + (5) = 12
Boots's AoO (to hit, damage): 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 9 + 2 + 2 = 261d6 + 5 + 2 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 2 + 2 + (6) = 21
B's attack v. Diane (to hit, damage): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 131d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
A third winged woman attacks Oscar, but the Inquisitor's thorough defenses protect him.
D's full attack (to hit, damage): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 221d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 151d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 81d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
The last attacker rises, and Fung Xi attacks, kicking her in the jaw with all his might. Her flesh is as hard as stone.
Fung Xi's AoO: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 + 2 = 281d8 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 2 = 15
"Good," she says, licking blood from her lips with a sensual grin. "You like the rough stuff. Me, too."
C's attack with Power Attack (to hit, damage): 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 2 = 271d8 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 4 = 14
Critical hit confirmation (to hit, damage): 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 9 - 2 = 211d8 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 4 = 10
Fung Xi takes 24 points of damage
Everyone but Dora, go!

Inquisitor Oscar |

Oscar says, "Ah'm judgin' ya!" As Diane hisses and continues to attack.
I spend a swift action to do Judgement of Justice which is +2 Sacred Bonus to hit. Power attack for -2 to hit and +4 damage and try and cut her down. +2 to hit and damage from Bard Song as well. I also try and figure out what she is so I can Bane her and get through DR possibly.
Planes: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
+1 Rhoka: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 311d8 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Critical Confirmation: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 181d8 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Talon: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 151d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Talon: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 271d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Talon: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 131d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
This includes Bard Song but no Flank for Diane. If Kale threatens somehow with spikes or unarmed fighting then add +2 more to Diane's rolls. Although from reading it it sounds like she flew up to get out of flank anyway so that is unlikely to matter. If I need to do the Precision damage let me know.

I think harmful in this context implies direct, immediate harm, not potential risk. And I did give you a +2 bonus for the unreasonable suggestion. I think she spends the round taking off the gauntlet and dropping it and the sword to the floor.

Oscar believes these are Alu-demons, the daughters of mortals and succubus demons
Ayaki moves to support Fung Xi, but the alu-demon parries his thrust. Oscar's weird rhoka tears into the alu-demon before him with two bloody cuts. Only her infernal toughness saves her life for the moment. Diane the deinonychus nips at the legs of the alu-demon in the hallway.
Fung Xi knocks down the alu-demon before him and stomps his heel into her jaw.
Alphonse's bomb: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 8 + 2 = 113d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 5, 3) + 4 = 18
Alphonse backs away from the doorway and hurls a bomb into the corner. The alu-demon dodges it and suffers no damage from the splash of fire.
Tesperen's Will save: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 2 = 18
Tesperen's Flurry of blows: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 2 = 81d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 2 = 241d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 21d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The gnome snarls and rushes Fung Xi, snapping a kick to his knee, which Fung Xi blocks with expert ease, but then the gnome lands a solid punch to Fung Xi's groin.
Fung Xi takes 5 more points of damage. Please be sure to note the accumulated damage in your class/level line. I believe he has 17 hp left.
Dora, go!

![]() |

Dora, not liking the new turn of developments with the gnome fighting against us, tries to determine what the gnome said and shouts...
"There is someone else in here controlling him! Boots, finish off this one in the hall and get in here."
She continues singing (+2/+2 as free action, and flank tactics d6 for 3 more rounds) while she 5' steps back to the eastern wall (South of Kale) She pulls out (move action haversack) her Griffon wonderous figure and activates it (standard action) into the squares north of Kale (on the pool table?).
Boots attacks B +1 Bite, flank with griffon, tactics: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 2 + 2 = 31 for dmg: 1d6 + 5 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 2 + (4) = 16
If hits, trip vs CMD trip: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 9 + 2 + 2 = 24
She says to the griffon (free) "Find any invisible creature and attack it. If none exist attack the outsider alone in the corner."
GM, I apologize that the above is complex. I think Dora has actions to do all of it (depending on how much dialog she gets as free). I cannot tell what the Griffon will scent/detect, so leave it to the GM to make the decision. It should get full attack on "A" or possible full or pounce on hidden if one exists within 15'. I am sure I missed something, so adjust accordingly.
Melee bite +8 (1d6+3), 2 talons +7 (1d6+3) Space 10 ft.; Reach 5 ft. Scent, (not counting bardsong etc)
Special Attacks pounce, rake (2 claws +7, 1d4+3)

Inquisitor Oscar |

Oscar has See Invisibility up. Do I see something else? Also did I get the info on the DR? And for Bane I am looking at an Evil Outsider correct?
Lastly, in your write up you called my action two slices where I only had a single attack which may have crit'ed. I just wanted to check on that since the difference in one or two DR's added in can be big.

________________________________________________________________
Dora summons a griffon onto the pool table. Boots the wolf savages the alu-demon in the hallway, seizing her by the throat and tearing it out in a nauseating but efficient bit of violence. The griffon, finding no hidden foes, attacks the alu-demon in the corner, managing to nip her slightly.
The surviving alu-demons attempt to flee. As the one in the southern corner (D) tries to run past Oscar, he cuts her down with his rhoka. The one facing Ayaki and Fung Xi rises and Fung Xi strikes her hard against the jaw with the heel of his hand. She then crashes through the window and flies out into the night.
The last alu-demon darts past the griffon and hesitates at the window. "Curse you all," she hisses. "But you are too late to stop the sacrifice. My mother will gut you and make you enjoy it."
Then she too turns and crashes out through the window, flapping away on leathery wings.
Tesperen looks surprised and holds up his hands. "Uh... he says. "Sorry. It wasn't, um, me?"
[Combat Over.]

![]() |

The +13 is to trip, but with the +9 it would have been a 32, which I assume would have still been a hit. On a side note, I do have Combat Reflexes, her leaving would have drawn a separate AoO from me even if she withdrew, wouldn't it?

![]() |

Dora would have considered sending the griffon after them, but it was going to gave a hard time getting through their DR. .
"Tesperen, so who was behind this? And why? They spoke of a mother?"

Tarondor |

Fung Xi: Yes. Wouldn't have mattered. She could take it. She got out while the getting was good.
The gnome guard captain is still pretty woozy. "I...I don't know. Orielle was just suddenly there. She's a serving maid. I think she touched me and asked me to investigate a noise upstairs. She said she was scared and kind of talked about how brave I was."
"And then you were here and there was this voice in my..." In that instant, Tesperen grows pale, his eyes roll back in his head and he collapses to the ground. He is breathing, but completely unconscious.

![]() |

Dora will cast a protection from evil on him to see if it helps expel any remaining control.

![]() |

Ok, no worries. Can I make a Sense Motive check to see if she was gloating, or trying to deceive us with misdirection? Sense Motive +12.
"Then we must find Orielle! Keep her from making her sacrifice!"
EDIT: "Oh dear..." Fung swoons slightly as he realizes the growing patch of dark blood upon his fancy clothing, but pulls himself back to his feet. It will have to wait...
Jeez, almost lost 2/3 of my hp in one hit! Dirty crits! >.<

![]() |

Yes Fung Xi, you took that big hit, Kale lost her sword, and we had yet to drop even one of them. Dora was worried things were getting out of hand when the gnome turned against us.

![]() |

Kale recovers her senses and retrieves her blade from the ground. "I don't know vhat came over me... but that could have gone much vorse."
She blushes slightly as she re-locks the blade in the gauntlet.

![]() |

"So how do we find this Orielle? Who would know? Time is running short? What of our venture-captains downstairs...surely they saw or know something that will help."
Dora had a frustrated look on her face, especially not getting responses from the gnome.
Did we search areas 1,2 and 13? If not, then unless someone has another idea, try those?

![]() |

Looking out the window at area 13 and the stables for movement, Fung turns to the others, "I have a sinking feeling that she is back in the cellar. That is where we found the first bodies, after all..."

![]() |

"The gnome was charmed somehow, and some winged lady-demons attacked us. There is a woman leading them, in the process of performing a sacrifice somewhere! The servant, Orielle, we believe..."

![]() |

"And these can take the shape of some of the staff or anyone...so we must find this Orielle and stop her immediately!"
Dora will move up to support Fung Xi in the exchange with the venture-captains. She will also tap him with her CLW wand
seeing he has not been cured since the fight with the Alu-Demons.
clw wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

![]() |

Kale is skeptical of the venture captains sudden appearances, narrowing her eyes at them as if to see past them. "Their powers of deception are quite powerful. We best be on our guard against anyone."
Will to Disbelieve: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Tarondor |

I wondered if anyone would suspect the VC's. I would. But it appears that they're legit. You know...for now.
As you are speaking with the Venture Captains (and Kale is staring intently at them but not getting any feel for something wrong), Damien Blackros approaches and asks what's happening. Once filled in on the deadly events in his home, he says "This evening will be a disaster if the imposter can not be unmasked quickly. All our work...all your work... will be lost if these people leave thinking that the Pathfinders can not deliver what they claim."
"Please, look everywhere. You have the run of the house, of the grounds. Root out this imposter!"
Major Maldris agrees, and unbuckles his sword belt, holding out his precious talonstrike sword. "If one of you thinks you can make good use of this tonight, take it. I need to stay with the guests. Also, I have here a cold iron weapon blanch, and it seems you may need that as well. Take them."
Members of the Andoran faction (Alphonse) will be able to identify the properties of a talonstrike blade. Weapons like Major Maldris’s +2 alchemical silver defending bastard sword are favored blades of the Eagle Knights of Andoran, and are easily recognized by their notched blades and golden quillons crafted to look like upswept eagle wings. Major Maldris’s blade is crafted with the ability to cast dimensional anchor on a target as a free action upon a successful hit.
You have a few quick moments to heal up, if you desire.

Dora, you can use my wand, since I don't have the UMD for it. I just have it in case people have a need, so save your charges. ^_^
Was there nothing to see from our vantage-point out the window of the office where we fought the demons?
"Ayaki, be my guest, I am always more comfortable with my hands. I will be sure to keep attempting to keep our opponents off balance!"
Should have purchased that cold iron knuckles when I had the chance... >.<
