Ok, heading down...

A narrow, forty-foot-long stairwell opens into a vast chamber stretching over a hundred feet from end to end. Spread throughout the vault are a series of massive columns, each rising twenty feet from the ground, leaving ten feet of open space between their beveled capitals and the domed ceiling above. Each column is covered from plinth to capital with shelves sized for books and scrolls alike.

It is dark, with the exception of Keya's ioun torch and Aleimare's torch. As he moves to light the torches in the nearby sconces, you all hear a deafening shriek almost as if from a tremendous bird of prey!

"I believe a sip of titan essence apropos for this occasion." He says as he retrieves a small metal vial from his coat pocket. Popping the seal with his thumb he tosses back the extract like a shot of Riddleport rum. As the last drops goes down Maximo begins to grow.

He will move one square forward and then two diagonals to the top left and ready an attack for any enemy that comes within range. If creatures end a move inside his weapon reach, he will use his fauchard, if they end their move outside of his weapon reach, he will use his dazzling display to attempt to fear/shake them. If you do not allow the dual condition for the readied action, the intimidate will take precedence and then just an AoO if they continue to move closer (+2 to hit demoralized foes due to braggart).

When they see the web, they pull up short, frantically trying to reverse direction in mid-air! With their powerful wings flapping, they tear at the webbing with their leonine claws as they lower to the floor!

Evayne, Keya, Maximo:

These creatures are heirocasphinxes. The least intelligent of the common sphinxes, hieracosphinxes are a cowardly, cruel-hearted lot. The other species of sphinx hold nothing but disdain for hieracosphinxes, and typically attack these vile beasts on sight.

Their screech/shriek can deafen opponents. Other than that, they have no special defenses or attacks.

Keya eyes the creature to the left, calling upon dark forces to disrupt its actions! Creature 1 Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Such strength! Like a giant of legend! He hadn't felt this good in ages. The magic supported him with a vigor that reminded him of his early years in the great Taldan army. Twice the height of his companions, the winged creatures seemed almost cute, like pets. Rabid pets that needed to be put down, unfortunately.

As the creatures rip through the webs and come to ground before them Maximo shouts encouragement to his companions.

"Good throw Kyra! That's the spirit Aliemare! They challenge us to defeat them, and so we must oblige!"

Raising his greatsword high and charging it again with arcane power, Maximo slashes down between the pillars at the creature facing Aleimare.

Assuming Aleimare steps back 5' due to reach (it moved up to you to attack.) So, unfortunately that means that he cannot move this round.

Aleimare spins his blade, coming up with the flat of the blade on the side of the beast's head! With a whimper, the creature collapses on the ground!

Keya continues to cackle, unnerving her companions slightly, then calls for the spirits to carry the remaining beast off to dreamland!
