"One girl and two cups, this seems reminiscent of something. Your logic seems sound. I just hope that what we shall receive is an aquamarine and not a drowning."
As Keya is placing the jug back, Aleimare will move behind the statue into a "flanking" position in the off-chance that a threat emerges from the fountain.

Upon filling the marid’s goblet with 4 cups of water, the statue’s mouth slowly opens, revealing an aquamarine gem.

Twelve five-foot-diameter darkwood columns jut up at varying heights from this seemingly floorless room. While random, the columns offer a hazardous path to a raised platform thirty-five feet away. Decorating the far wall, a giant carved face leers across the open chasm, mocking potential trespassers.

"Hmm. This appears far too simple."
Maximo looks around for any clues indicating danger or the proper path. In the process he drops a copper into the void and listens to see if it is truly bottomless.

In this instance, you cannot take 20 on Perception unless you drop 20 coins, one by one. You do not seem to hear a bottom.

"I seem to have left my wings in my other pants. Although since the last room was water, I guess this would be wind. And I don't know that I trust that mouth if we fly. I bet it might blow air at a flyer."
Is there a perception or knowledge check I can make to determine if my guess has any basis?

"I'm sure this bottomless pit is only an illusion." Hand to ear, Maximo listens, his eyebrows rising higher as he expects a sound. When Aleimare breaks the silence he tries to shush him. Flustered, he grabs a sunrod, lights it, then tosses it down.

![]() |

Maximo's sunrod falls for a few seconds, until it hits a surface about 60 or 70 feet down. It doesn't make an audible sound as it hits, but doesn't bounce as you would expect it to on a solid floor.

Maximo judges the distances and angles to the platform. Stepping back he begins some stretches and lunges to limber up his old bones.
"So it would seem a little brisk exercise is in order here, hmm? I believe I can handle this."
Acrobatic jump checks to cross? Are we able to judge the difficulty?

![]() |

Sir Terramor knows he will be of little help in this challenge, given his heavy armor. He stands aside and looks for opportunities to help.

![]() |

The jumps from one column to the next vary from Easy (DC 5) to Challenging (DC 17). The entire first row of columns are Easy jumps. Which one do you plan on jumping to first? Number them 1-3 from left to right.

Who is actually in the room, and who is waiting outside?

Aleimare is inside.
"Should we tie off a rope to whoever is jumping across?"
Can I make some type of belay system with a block and tackle and rope? If we do not tie off a rope, Aleimare will ready his bow in case of any enemies coming out of the pit/face.

![]() |

Evayne speaks in a voice just above a whisper "I can go across if nobody else wants to try. I also know a little bit of magic which might be useful in case someone falls. "

![]() |

"I will go." Maximo says as he gets a rope from his pack. "However, if those two are unstable, then others might be as well. Can anyone see the other columns clearly enough to hazard a guess for them?"
He harnesses himself into the rope, then hands the end to the biggest person in the room. He then hops to the closest column.
Acrobatics +5 in armor, so the first column shouldn't even require a check, right?
blind skill check to examining columns: 1d20 ⇒ 11

Evayne and Keya inform Maximo that they need to get closer to the other columns to check. Within 10' you may make a Knowledge (engineering) check. Once Keya and Evayne help you to know what you are looking for, you may make the check. I will mark your path on the map.
The first jump is easy, then Maximo identifies the next pillar which is higher and 10' away.

Maximo retrieves a wand from his pack and activates a spell within. He then gets out a potion and drinks it. He then jumps nimbly to the next column.
Wand of expeditious retreat and potion of jump. Total bonus to jump checks is now +27. If a roll is required you can make it for me if needed.
Blind knowledge check: 1d20 ⇒ 18
If that determined a safe column Maximo will jump again.

Maximo safely and nimbly hops to the next pillar, then looking at the next ones, he determines which to go to next, actually needing to make an effort to hop the steep 8-1/2' height difference. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (13) + 27 = 40
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
In the statue’s mouth, held between its teeth, rests a clear diamond. The way back is a simple effort, 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (17) + 27 = 44 and soon, Maximo is standing next you, diamond in hand.

"Let us continue!" Maximo declares after his victory over the columns. He takes a few springing steps down the hall towards the next challenge but then suddenly pratfalls on his face as the temporary magic fades.
Groaning, he pulls himself back to his feet. "East then?"

Bright crimson, scarlet, and vermilion tiles cover the walls, floors, and ceiling of this otherwise barren room. The tiles differ in shape, size, and texture, creating a giant mosaic depicting a red-skinned, horned man and a woman wreathed in flames leading armies of beasts of fire and golden-haired celestials against one another in an epic struggle. Strange runes ring the room’s circumference.

I'm sure it's as trapped as anything else in this place, but I'm trying to figure out the relationship between sarenrae and asmodeus here. Fire is a good consideration for what's here between hells flames and heavens retribution... But also in efreeti... although if actual flames will be here is hard to tell preparing can't hurt.
