Sovereign Court

Guybord determines that the two scrolls are one of Shatter, and one of Shield Other.

Sovereign Court

Acid and Alchemist's Fire work just fine, too ;-)

Just remember, with oil, it takes a full round action to prepare a vial, and you need a way to light it - which could be a problem, as a quick inventory of everyone's equipment shows that only one person has flint and steel.

Did something is magical in the bat cave ? In case of need I have two alchemist's fire said Gratius.

Once Guybord said what he found, Gratius asked

Is someone able to use these scrolls ? In case of need, I have a slight chance to activate them.

Shield other is on my spell list, so I think I can cast it with a caster lvl check

"No clue on that one, but that other one might work if I put my mind to it."

@Caelben - scrolls are spell completion, not spell trigger, so you actually need to have a caster level in order to use them (unlike wands).

I stand corrected, guess I need 3 more lvls before I qualify as a spellcaster with an actual caster level

I'm curious if there is anything in that bat room," Fellstone said. I'm not the stealthiest Dwarf around and I am getting the feeling that we'd be ill equipped to deal with a room full of angry and agitated bats."

With one last look back at the closed door to the Bat room, Fellstone falls in behind Gratius.

Sovereign Court

Heading up the stairs, the party comes upon another intermediate landing, with another door. This one, however, is *not* locked...

1d100 ⇒ 73

...and opens easily.

Crude bunks line the walls of this room, which is filled with the nauseating stench of the reptilian creatures that you encountered downstairs.

Of more concern, however, are that there are another three of the reptilian humanoids in this room!

Everyone needs to roll three Fort saves (DC 11), to avoid becoming Sickened.

Initiative:
Kailun: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Gratius: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Claw Vs Guybord: 1d20 + 0 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 0 + 2 = 5, for 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2 damage.

However, only one is able to connect, slightly bruising Caelben's fair Elven skin.

Gratius takes a swing, drawing blood, and causing the creature to hiss in pain and fear.

Kailun starts casting a spell.

Caelben takes a swing with his morningstar, but the creature nimbly dodges out of the way.

Fellstone likewise tries to punch one of them, but it, too, dodges his blow.

Guybord, his hand surrounded by a coruscating miasma of entropic energy, tries to touch one of the reptilian humanoids, but it backs away, hissing in alarm.

Gratius sinks his blade into one of the creatures, badly wounding it.

Kailun finishes his spell, summoning an eagle which rips into one of the other reptilian humanoids, dropping it in a frenzy of raking and pecking. He then casts another spell...

Will: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1.

...dazing it.

Caleben capitalises upon its distraction, chopping it down with a well placed blow.

Fellstone chases after the fleeing one, but is unable to land a blow. He does, however, see into the next room...

A brazier of glowing coals sits in the center of this room, its acrid smoke mixing with the ever-present reptilian stench. A few knives, pokers, and other metal implements lie atop a rusty iron box nearby.

Of course, the most pressing concern is another reptilian humanoid, this one substantially larger than the others that you have encountered thus far, who is holding a red-hot poker, and hisses in annoyance at the intrusion into his domain!

He steps forward and attacks Fellstone...

Poker: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9, for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 +1 fire damage.

Guybord, his hand still surrounded by a corona of entropic energy, attempts to touch one of the creatures, by it nimbly dodges him.

The smaller creature, emboldened by its larger ally's presence, turns and attacks Guybord...
