Fellstone drags the corpse of the dog over to the small lizard and drops it in front of it and then moves to join the others by the door.
Once the door is opened, Fell takes a couple of breaths and makes a gagging sound. "By Irori's blessed innards! What a sten...sten..." His hand moves to his stomach as he makes another gagging sound. "Och...that turns my stomach..."
Hearing Kailun casting, he moves in front of the Elf to protect him.

He moved in on my phone so unable to move my character on the map and ready an attack placing himself to protect the door and take advantage of his superior reach.

Half the party looses their breakfast.
The creatures move forward to attack Caelben...
...but Gratius responds with two deft blows, chopping both creatures down.
Combat over.
Now, in terms of searching the room, the scenario specifically calls out using Appraise to identify what is still salvageable, so give me some rolls :-)
Kailun |
Kailun speaks up before the group continues up the stairs. "I'll remind you that we're here to investigate, not simply race to the end. The Society wants to know what's going on here, and that requires a thorough search." Seeing some disinterest on the faces of some of his companions, he sweetens the deal by adding, "There might be more treasure on these levels, too."
Gratius Laelius |
Gratius stopped his climb and said I agree with you, but I would prefer to make inquiries without some strange creature willing to kill us.
If this door is closed, it's certainly because the new inhabitants of this tower are not in. So, first clean this tower from its inhabitants, second, look for old treasure.
That's my toughts but I will gladly follow the majority.
Caelben |
Does the door open into the room or towards us?
"Well, maybe we can block the door on our side as well, then continue up? If it swings our way..all we need to do is get some wood from those weapon racks and jam them between the opposite wall and the door and if someone is on the other side they can't get out at us either when we investigate upstairs"
Fellstone Bloodknuckle |
Fellstone crossed his arms and nodded. "I agree with the Elf." he said but then remembered that there was more than one Elf in the party. "I mean to say that I agree with Kailun. We're here to investigate and I don't fancy going back to the Society saying that we didn't check some rooms because the door was locked. If we don't have a key, then we use some muscle."
Luke_Parry |
Alright, then!
Whilst the door is locked, it is unable to stand up to a concerted assault by the party's resident dwarf, eventually giving way.
Inside is an interesting sight: Two stone altars, one black and one white, sit at either end of this large chamber, which takes up two wings of the tower on this level. The crumbling remains of wooden benches sag in front of each altar beneath rotting ceiling tapestries. Carved symbols and writings snake along the walls. The burnt corpses of two more reptilian humanoids lie on the floor in the center of the room.
Of more immediate concern, however, is that, upon entering the room, two piles of bone in front of either altar rearticulate into walking skeletons, the bones of which gradually blacken, before bursting into flame! They turn fleshless faces to regard the party, before opening their mouths in silent screams...
Gratius: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Caelben: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Fellstone: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
BS: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
The two skeletons charge forward...
AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8, for 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 damage.
AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25, for 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 damage.
...and one is immediately cut down by Gratius, exploding!
@Gratius, 1d6 ⇒ 1 Fire damage, DC 11 Reflex save for half.
The remaining skeleton then claws at Gratius...
Claw: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 + 2 = 20, for 1d4 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 2 + (1) = 5 damage.
...delivering a slight slash, its flaming aura searing his flesh as it does so.
@Fellstone, Caelben, and Gratius: at the start of your turn, you take 1d6 ⇒ 6 Fire damage, if the skeleton is still alive.
Round 1: BS, Kailun, Caelben, Gratius, Fellstone, Guybord
Party is up!

@GM : is 1 damage reduce to 0 if I made the save ?
It's important as Gratius wouldn't be able to stand at the start of his turn as he will be reduce to -1
Kailun |
"I'm not really equipped to deal with skeletons, apologies." Kailun skirts the edge of the room and releases an arrow when he gets a clear shot, hoping for the best.

Fellstone only has a brief moment to glance around the room before the action starts. "Gratius!" he shouts. Luckily, the skeleton was close enough that he didn't have to move far before unleashing a flurry of fists.
Flurry of Blows: 1d20 ⇒ 171d20 ⇒ 4

Luke_Parry |
Kailun skirts the edge of the room, and fires an arrow which goes wide.
Caelben, ignoring the flames which lick at his body, steps back, and stabs his longspear at the skeleton, but it dodges out of the way.
Gratius is severely burned, and drops to the ground, unconscious.
Guybord provides Fellstone with a bit of luck...
Fellstone then delivers a flurry of punches to the skeleton, but only one manages to connect, fracturing several ribs and damaging its spine, which causes the skeleton to explode!
@Gratius and Fellstone: 1d6 ⇒ 3 Fire damage, DC 11 Reflex save for half; Gratius can still make this save (Despite being unconscious), but he counts as being Dex 0.
Combat over!
Fellstone Bloodknuckle |
The cracking of the skeletons bones beneath Fellstones fist was very satisfying. The exploding part, not so much.
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
The Dwarf managed to hop back in time to suffer only minor burns. "Irori's Teeth, that was close." He moved to Gratius' side to check on the man.
Caelben |
"You got burned a bit when you got to close to that skeleton..and then it exploded, but you got better once Guybord prayed for us and the divine healed all of us"
Caelben pulls out a little stick and uses it to close some more wounds on Gratius
Cure light wounds on Gratius: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Caelben then wields his spear in both hands again and takes a look around the room
"Do we search this place or move on?"
Gratius Laelius |
Thank you for the healing. Gratius said to Caelben and Guybord while taking back his weapon.
With the corps here, the invaders of the tower may not have the time to loot this area. I suggest to search this place rather than moving on.
Fellstone Bloodknuckle |
With Gratius back on his feet, Fellstone moved over to examine some of the writings on the wall.
"This here's some quotes from one of Nethys holy texts." he says. "Do we know if this tower was used as a temple to Nethys or could this be something new?"
Luke_Parry |
A thorough search of the room reveals that each altar still has its silver altar services upon it (each worth 100gp in total), as well as a magical scroll (i.e. two scrolls in total)...
...in addition, there is a poorly-hidden secret door in one wall of the room.
Opening this secret door reveals a worrying sight.
A living, moving fabric seems to cover the ceiling of this half-collapsed chamber, which stretches northwest into darkness. The pungent smell of ammonia rises from the droppings that litter the floor.
To put it another way - there are literally thousands of bats currently roosting here. As of yet, they are quiescent (i.e. have yet to form into (a) swarm(s)), but if they are disturbed, they will attack - and they are immune to weapon damage...
