Luke_Parry |
Fellstone moves forward, and gets off an incredibly lucky shot, piercing the side of the shaman with a javelin.
Gratius tries to hit the crocodile, but just can't quite penetrate its thick hide.
Balenar moves forward, drawing his rapier as he does so, and heals Fellstone.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9.
The Troglodyte Shaman stands up, casts another spell, causing his other hand to become engulfed in a ball of flame, and then steps out of the grease...
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16.
...whistling a command to his crocodile as he does so.
Round 2: Fellstone, Balenar, Gratius, T(-5), Kailun, Guybord, Caelben, S(-11)
Kailun, Guybord, and Caelben are up!
Caelben |
Seeing the crocodile still alive Caelben tries to change that
To hit AC crocodile: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 1 = 18
Damage if hit: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
(not sure if the inspire courage is still up, in case it is, add another +1 to hit and damage)
Luke_Parry |
Kailun moves round to the side, and starts summoning.
Guybord hustles forward on his short dwarven legs.
You didn't move your icon, so I shifted you to be abreast with the rest of the party.
Caelben delivers a swift blow to the crocodile, splitting its skull.
@Caelben: Once commenced, bard song can be maintained as a free action, so it is still running.
The troglodyte shaman hisses in anger and annoyance, and narrows his eyes at Caelben, giving him a death stare.
Round 3: Fellstone, Balenar, Gratius, T(-5), Kailun, Guybord, Caelben
Fellstone and Gratius are up.
Gratius Laelius |
Gratius moves on the throne to be able to strike the shaman.
Asmodeus guide my blade ! he says before striking the shaman.
Longsword: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 11 if being on the throne gives a higher ground bonus, please add +1 to my roll
Damages: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9
But his sword doesn't hit anything, at Gratius disappointment.
Caelben |
@Caelben: Once commenced, bard song can be maintained as a free action, so it is still running.
I know, but without confirmation that Balenar actually keeps it running and didn't shut it of to save rounds of performance (or maybe he ran out) I wasn't sure he did that. Not complaining though an extra +1 to hit/damage is nice to have ;)
Just checking since it's icon is still on the map, but the crocodile is gone right? If it's still there attacking the crocodile instead
Avoiding the grease on the floor Caleben moves to the other side of the throne and tries to stab his spear into the troglodyte
To hit AC: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 1 = 18
Damage if hit: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7
Fellstone Bloodknuckle |
Feeling the tingle of the divine spell wash over him, Fellstone grins and cracks his knuckles. He moves up to the edge of the throne and proceeds to unleash a flurry of kicks at the shaman.
Flurry of Blows: 1d20 ⇒ 13
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
"You've caused enough trouble for today!
Luke_Parry |
Fellstone moves forward, and takes a swing at the Shaman, but his blow bounces off the troglodyte's hide.
Balenar casts a spell at the Troglodyte...
Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8.
1d100 ⇒ 43.
...who starts babbling incoherently.
Gratius moves forward, jumping up onto the throne, and delivering a solid hit to the shaman.
However, with the added weight, there is a cracking, grinding noise, and the entire eastern wing of the tower starts shuddering, as great rents appear in the walls!
With a final, rending groan, that section of the tower peels away from the rest of it, and plummets to the ground below.
Caelben, Fellstone, and Gratius - please roll two Reflex saves.
Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7.
Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23.
The Troglodyte shaman goes over the edge, but manages to catch himself part of the way down, frantically scrabbling back to his feet as he regards Gratius through narrowed eyes...
...although unfortunately for him, he landed on the level with the bat swarm.
...and he doesn't know about the secret door.
Round 3: Fellstone, Balenar, Gratius, T(-23), Kailun, Guybord, Caelben
Party is up!
Caelben |
Reflex save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Second Reflex save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Since falling from tower doesn't sound that great I'd like to use my re-roll with GM star bonus on that first roll if that's all right
Reroll first save: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 4 = 20
Kailun |
When Kailun's spell finishes, a celestial eagle appears, swooping down to bite the troglodyte.
Smite evil, too.
Eagle bite attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Eagle bite damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Kailun advances until he can see the creature and fires an arrow.
Kailun longbow attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Kailun longbow damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
Any chance the troglodyte is prone after falling down? That would be -4 on Kailun's attack but +4 on the eagle's.
Luke_Parry |
Caelben and Gratius manage to avoid going over the edge.
Still waiting for Fellstone to roll
Kailun summons an eagle, which swoops down, and slashes at the troglodyte, injuring, but not dropping, him. Kailun then moves forward and fires an arrow, which ricochets down the side of the broken tower.
Guybord moves to the edge, and shouts something down to the Troglodyte.
Round 3: Fellstone, Balenar, Gratius, T(-30), Kailun, Guybord, Caelben
Caelben to finish Round 3. Fellstone and Gratius to begin Round 4.
Fellstone still needs to make two Reflex saves.
Luke_Parry |
Caelben steps back from the edge, stows his spear, and draws his longbow.
Fellstone goes over the edge, and despite scrabbling frantically for purchase, lands on the ground 60' below with a sickening crunch...
6d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 1, 4, 1) = 17 damage.
...rendering him unconscious.
Balenar looks undecided for a moment, and then, with a pained look on his face, starts jumping down from level to level...
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19.
...and incredibly, makes it down to ground level unharmed!
Round 4: Fellstone, Balenar, Gratius, T(-30), Kailun, Guybord, Caelben
Gratius is up. Fellstone needs to make a stabilisation roll.
Kailun |
Kailun tries to daze the creature while the eagle tears at it.
Daze, Will DC 15.
Eagle bite attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Eagle claw 1 attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Eagle claw 2 attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Eagle bite damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Eagle claw 1 damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Eagle claw 2 damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Eagle claw 1 confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Eagle claw 1 crit damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Once again, if the thing is prone after falling, the eagle gets +4 on all those attacks.
Luke_Parry |
@Guybord: Stabilise has a range of close (so, 25' at level 1), and you are currently 60' above Fellstone, so you are currently out of range.
Also, Kailun, the Troglodyte acts before you do (hence why I only asked Gratius to act), and may kill the eagle - which is why I am not resolving your actions just yet.
Luke_Parry |
Okay... just to keep things moving...
The troglodyte snarls, and attacks the eagle...
Flame Blade: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 6 - 4 = 20, for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 damage.
Produce Flame: 1d20 + 0 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 0 - 4 = 6, for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 damage.
Bite: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14, for 1d6 ⇒ 3 damage.
...staggering it, which causes it to disappear.
Kailun casts a spell, attempting to Daze the troglodyte, but is surprised to discover that it has no effect.
Unfortunately, he has more than 4HD.
Round 4: Fellstone, Balenar, Gratius, T(-30), Kailun, Guybord, Caelben
Gratius, Guybord and Caelben to finish Round 4.
Fellstone (and Gratius again) to start Round 5.
Luke_Parry |
Gratius starts hustling down the stairs, as does Guybord.
Caelben moves to the edge, and takes a shot at the troglodyte, but his arrow goes wide.
Fellstone...
Stabilisation: 1d20 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (16) + 2 - 3 = 15.
...stops bleeding.
Balenar hums a little marching ditty under his breath, and heals Fellstone...
CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7.
...bringing him back to consciousness (4hp, I believe).
"Glad to see you survived! Make it count - that's my last spell."
Gratius continues to move down the staircase, hustling through to the secret door in the temple room.
The troglodyte glances around...
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18.
...and does not spot the secret door.
With a snarl, he tries to climb down...
Climb(Accelerated): 1d20 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (19) + 6 - 5 = 20.
Climb(Accelerated): 1d20 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (12) + 6 - 5 = 13.
...and manages to do exactly that, landing on the ground in a shower of masonry chips, just as his flaming blade winks out of existence (however, his other hand is still enveloped in flames).
Round 5/6: T(-30), Kailun, Guybord, Caelben, Fellstone, Balenar, Gratius
Party is up.
Alright, just to recap, because I am sure this is starting to get confusing:
Ground level: Fellstone, Balenar, and the Troglodyte.
Level 3 (temple room): Gratius, behind closed door.
Level 4 (staircase): Guybord.
Level 5 ('roof edge'): Kailun, Caelben.
FWIW, the Troglodyte looks *horrifically* injured - we are talking stiff breeze territory, here ;-)
Luke_Parry |
Kailun fires an arrow straight down onto the Troglodyte, which goes straight through its shoulder.
The troglodyte hisses in pain, and turns to snarl a curse up at Kailun...
...but doing so is too much for its heavily punished body, which rolls over and collapses to the ground, insensate.
Combat over.
Eventually, the party gathers together and returns to ground level.
Searching through the rubble reveals the following:
A masterwork scimitar, and a tattered cloak of resistance +1, ripped from the Troglodyte's shoulders in the fall.
A broken chest, its contents scattered amongst the fallen stones, which consists of:
A masterwork short sword, 15 cold iron shurikens, two flasks of acid, a potion of cat’s grace, a potion of lesser restoration, a wand of summon monster I (CL 3rd, 9 charges), an amethyst worth 100 gp, and 247 gp in assorted coins.
----------------------------------------
With the defeat of the Troglodytes, the Fallen Fortress stands abandoned once more, but it’s only a matter of time before something else moves into the damaged siege tower and poses a new threat; perhaps another band of beginner adventurers will have just as much luck in clearing them out...
Balenar Forsend is profuse in his thanks, offering to escort you to the Pathfinder Society’s Grand Lodge in Absalom, where he will gladly sponsor anyone who is not already a member, for membership in the Pathfinder Society, an organization of explorers, archaeologists, and adventurers.
After a short evaluation that determines you don’t need additional training, the leaders of the Society accept you as initiates. As new Pathfinders, you will have your choice of missions across Golarion, and even the opportunity to have your exploits published in the hallowed pages of the Pathfinder Chronicles!
Congratulations on completing the module :-)
I just need Kailun's details for reporting, and then I can send out chronicles :-)
Gratius Laelius |
Gratius opens the secret door to see no troglodyte in the open room.
He asks where the creature went Where is it ?.
Once someone tells him where the shaman went he moves back towards the chairs to go on grounds level.
But the time he land on the ground, the creature was already dead, a last arrow in his throat.
Well done ! Seeing Fellstone alive he adds You're name was predestined my friend ! Happy to see you alive.
