Well then, what happens when you don't know where they are?
On the map, you saw 42 flying thorugh the screens to the left.
Naala has not made any noise yet. Alden could probably call to her and try to find out where she is, but that would also give the shadows a clue as to her location, so that would be his choice to make...
Fortunately the shadows don't have to deal with such conundrums. XD
Itamar
|
Does this include 42 and Naala? Are you waiting for them to be recovered too?
Do also remember that you will arrive at least 5 and up to 500 miles from your intended destination. Where will your intended destination be?
A priest of Torag leaves no one behind, I am aiming for outside the mansion, yeah the 5-500 miles sucks but it beats having a party full of shadows

So after worrying about killing you guys in this game, I ended up with not only my first kills, but my first TPK as a GM last Saturday... at an introductory game to PFS for a group of mates no less.
Damned power-attacking barbarians with 19 STR in an evergreen game...
Between Earl and Rand, Naala can be retrieved, but the question now is are you going to plane shift out or use the exit that 42 discovered?
Itamar
|
I suppose the exit would be best.

These things happen, hopefully the group wasn't to disappointed and will come back.

My first kill was in ... .. Something Affairs... started with a D.. When the first Megus villain was introduced to society. He one shot a character.

I second using the exit that was found.
My first kills as a GM were in Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment. I killed all but one player and he just barely out ran his pursuer. Otherwise it would have been a TPK.

How are you getting 7 lesser restorations btw? Do you have an ability to spontaneously convert spells to lesser restorations?
I had a wand with 4 charges left and three scrolls, I have them marked off on my sheet now
Itamar
|
Well done, everyone. That was a crazy situation to find ourselves in. I'm glad at least someone was prepared. Obviously Alden and poor Naala would have just expired and become shadows without your help. :-S
I don't know how close that escape door was or how many more attacks we would have faced(and I don't want to, it will probably make me sad)
Torag blessed us by not dropping us in the middle of the ocean
| FiddlersGreen |
I actually rolled for random terrain, and you got mountains. XD
Fortunately, it turns out that there is a significant mountaneous feature within that range too! The combination of the distance from destination and randomly rolled terrain gave me pretty much only one place you guys could be. XD
Btw, Itamar, is your spell-list updated?

What are the rest of you doing whilst he dies goes on his suicide scouting mission?

Where are you hanging out? Are you hiding or just camping around an open fire?
Are you all on the far shore or on the island with Rand?
Is Rand scouting out the whole island or just the mansion?
I need information about your location and actions to work with here. XD
Itamar
|
Oh let's say 50' away from the mansion hidden, no fires, noise or anything to give away our position. I believe Rand is just scouting the mansion
Rand, The Iron Fist

That's my plan, but if I see the girl I'm going to be coming out hot.

Before we get started, If i am understanding right, we get to reselect our daily spells?
| FiddlersGreen |
Yep, you got to rest up, this is a new day, just a couple of hours before dawn.
To my knowledge, Itamar spent a substantial number of his spells for the day casting restoration on several of you, so you are all back at full, thanks to your well-prepared cleric.
Itamar
|
Itamar, I will also need you to update your spells and take into account the restorations that you have cast today.
Oh I'm updated, I took a substantial amount of restoration for today as well
| FiddlersGreen |

I think you may need to check which of your spells are crossed out then. I am seeing alot of crossed-out spells on your profile that you have not cast today, and on the other hand the restorations are not crossed out.

Level 1 (DC 19): Deathwatch, Expeditious Retreat1, Liberating Command 2, Murderous Command 2
Level 2 (DC 20): Burst of Radiance, Create Pit (Ref 21), Defending Bone, Grace, Lesser Restoration, 2 Sound Burst 1.
Level 3 (DC 21): Blindness/Deafness 2, Chain of Perdition 2, Dispel Magic 1, Spiked Pit (Ref 22) 1
Level 4 (DC 22): Dimensional Anchor, Dismissal, Hallucinogenic Smoke (Fort 23) Locate Creature. Restoration 2
Level 5 (DC 23): Breath of Life 1, Life Bubble,Plane Shift(Will 24) 1, Teleport. 1
Level 6 (DC 24): Banishment, Chains of Light(Ref 25), Heal, 1 Hungry Pit(Ref 25) Wind Walk [/spoiler]
I have cast 3 Restorations(Level 4 leaves me with 2 spells, I chose to take 2 more Restorations), 2 Lesser Restorations(Level 2 leaves me with 3 remaining) 2 Wind Walk(6th level,Leaves me with 1 spell ) and Life Bubble(Level 5, Leaves me with 3)
The ones that are crossed out are ones I usually choose but did not today and/or I have already used
| FiddlersGreen |
Ah, ok, that was where I was getting confused. I thought the crossed-out spells were ones you had memorised and cast. I was also wondering why there were so many. XD
All is well then. =)
On with the slaughter! (Your's or their's.)

The women shriek at the sonic waves ripple through their bodies, but they do not seem too perturbed by it.
I'm an idiot, I have Deathwatch up
| FiddlersGreen |
Alden and 42, this is starting to remind me of Artrosa! Enemies dealing CON damage, fights that would have been easy if Alden's will had not been attacked. Not that it's your fault the enemy had that many fear cones between them. When I played this, Exiel rolled a 1 on one of his saves against fear and was also sent packing. XD
I'm just glad that this time I'm on the other side of the GM screen...

Take a look at the following thread. 2nd Printing of Ultimate Equipment Errata There are a number of changes and items that have been nerfed and can now be sold back at full price.
FiddlersGreen: How would you like us to handle these changes since it is happening in the midst of playing the PFS sanctioned portion of the AP book?
Matamah the Thundering
|
I just asked one of the online VLs (Being a VL myself I have connections) and I don't have an official source but he said that in a PbP you just ignore the errata while in the PbP and then after the game it applies to your character. I'll let the GM decide the final outcome but thought it'd be nice to get input. :)
| FiddlersGreen |
Well... that sucks. I liked my Jingasa... A real life-saver, that one. =(
On the other hand, they slashed the price of amulets of mighty fists to be in line with normal weapons! One of my other characters is now rejoicing!
Ok, here's how I'll rule it. If the item properties have changed, they take effect immediately. This mainly means the Jingasa, which will affect Rand's AC. Fortunately, this will not ret-con the death that the Jingasa saved him from a couple of rounds earlier.
After this battle, you can do your re-build or item trading if you wish, since it won't slow us down as this is a pbp. Alternatively you can leave it till the end of the game to do it. I'll be flexible on that one.
I actually think only Rand is affected, but correct me if I'm wrong.
Will update the battle status after Rand posts his action.

I haven't checked... but i believe all of 42's items are regular enchantments.. nothing fancy.

I have updated my character to reflect the changes to the Jingasa of the Fortunate Soldier. It lowers my AC, Touch AC, and Flat Footed AC by 1 due to the change from a luck bonus to a deflection bonus.
Alden Helpinghand
|
I really don't understand why they felt the need to change the Jingasa's AC bonus... I understand why the crit cancel became a one-time thing, though.
| FiddlersGreen |
Hey guys, sorry the update took awhile. I hurt my neck and shoulder and needed to spend alot of time in bed. On the plus-side, I am now keenly aware of how the neck, shoulder and ball-socket joint at the end of the shoulder are very interconnected. Pain is a great teacher, as they say...
I think the Jingasa armor type change was due to the fortune's favored trait. It's still a great trait, imo, since it still plays nicely off core items like the luck blade and luck stone.
Update pending
| FiddlersGreen |
Btw, Alden, the benevolent armor property got a price-hike. Would you be able to give me a breakdown of how this would change your aid-others down the track? Is it down to +9 from Alden and +5 from Naala, or are you going to shift gear around to compensate for it?
| FiddlersGreen |
Well, I just finished updating Exiel's gear as well. After selling the jingasa and revising a purchase on my latest chronicle, I had enough to get this item.
It's a very expensive upgrade to the jingasa, but also alot more versatile. Still means I have to wait a little longer for my desired weapon though. =(
Alden Helpinghand
|
Ugh, I hate it when they boost prices like that. I'll look at it and definitely will move things around to compensate... don't wanna lose any of my aid-another AC bonuses if I can help it.

Will be head organizer at PFS at a convention May 26th - 29th this weekend, so bot me if needed. (Mostly likely would inspire courage and haste, then go defensive with spells)
| FiddlersGreen |
Main change for Alden is that benevolent went from a static price increase to a +1 bonus.
Several of you I think will be affected by the Jingasa nerf.
Rand will be celebrating the severe price-drop of the amulet of mighty fists (they now cost as much as a regular magic weapon).
Subject - 42

Okay, what book is it that has caused all this hell? I need to double check with 42's stuff to see if anything he has is effected.
| FiddlersGreen |
Follow this link to the relevant thread.
The book was Ultimate Equipment, which got a massive update.
The thread lists what changes you can make to your character and a link to the errata pdf. Took a quick look at your character and I don't think you're affected, but it would be best to check it on your own too. =)
Alden Helpinghand
|
I think I'll have to drop the armor down to +2 Benevolent full plate, and get the difference back in cash to use for something else. So, my aid another bonuses for AC go down by 1. I get 2,000gp back (woo...)
| FiddlersGreen |

Correction, I mis-read the errata. Amulet of mighty fists price remains unchanged.

| FiddlersGreen |
Ok, I'm going to post here to avoid cluttering the gameplay thread too much.
Itamar is suggesting going down the nearest passage (the slightly-open gate). Rand is suggesting peeking behind the curtains (though there is the question of how far behind the curtains you want to look, since some of the passages aren't straight.
What do you guys want to do?
Silver Crusader Rhon Delver
|
I second going to the slightly open gate. I, for one, don't want to leave whatever is behind that gate a chance to follow us as we explore and either launch a surprise attack on us while we are vulnerable or have it engage us while we are actively engaged in another battle.
What is this place made of or seem to be made of since we are treading on it?
What is the light level like?
Is sound traveling like normal here?
And finally, did we gain the Outsider subtype when we entered this place?
Matamah the Thundering
|
I third the gate.
Hopefully sound is travelling like normal. I can tell you instantly with my Echolocation going, but it could be weird if it's not. :p
