Tarantio |
Tarantio eyes up the strange Homunculus but decides better than assaulting the thing over Dacius. Leaping off Dragos' shoulder, the Drake rushes one of the Blue Goblins and tries to sink their fangs into it.

1 question - Does it have any special attacks?
"The flying creature is some kind of unique homonculus. I believe some spell casters construct them to be their servants in a similar bond to a familiar. This one is different somehow though."
Vol also shares his knowledge of the creatures special attacks.
He moves in to the room and tries to strike the little creature.

The group tries to swat at the tiny homunculus, but are unable to catch up to him.
Tarantio bites the blue-skinned creature, but his teeth fail to harm it.
Dragos recognizes the small creatures as mites, a type of evil fey. Being fey they are likely resistant to attack from weapons not made from cold iron.
The mite tries to throw a dart at Dragos, but fails to hit him.
Dragos can ask 2 questions about mites.

"Well I was going to give warning that they resist weapons not of Cold-iron, but when you hit that hard, what does fey flesh matter?"
Michael Hallet |
Krudenk smashes another mite. The homunculus continues to try to gnaw at Dacius' armor.
Mites have DR 2/cold iron. Their hatred of dwarves and gnomes give them a bonus to attack rolls against those raced.

As soon as the PCs defeat Andolf and the mites, the table’s mirrored surface once again reflects Lady Illirigarde holding one of the silvery disks in each hand. This is no haunt, but rather a chance to communicate with her before her soul departs forever. In a whispering voice she asks why they have come.
Dragos Gaspair-Dukain |
Dragos frowns at his rather poor attempts to assist his allies and holds out his arm as Tarantio clambers back up to his shoulder. Turning to the surface the Undertaker gives a start.
"Well well! I often talk to them, but never have the dead talked back."
The Druid turns to the mirrored Surface and tries a speaking at the table.
"Well hello! We are here as this place is rumoured to be haunted after you...went missing. You see we are somewhat experts of the Occult and the Mysterious and have been hired to tackle the strange Phenomena around here. Pray tell, do you know of any?"
Michael Hallet |
Take these, track down the threat and put an end to it.
Lady Illirigarde holds out a pair of compasses. You discover you are able to reach into the glass of the mirror, the surface rippling in response to your touch. You are able to draw out a pair of wispy, shadows that when placed into the box Dr. Q provided you become stable and solid.

PART IV - MONOLITH
My valued hirelings!
It would seem the disturbing phenomena in Versex county are only increasing. Apparently disturbed sleep and flashes of heat lightning of a red hue are especially common, and those following the news link these events to the bloody murders of both people and beasts near an ancient Kellid site known as “the monolith.” I would like for you to investigate the strange monument, search for any clues linking this to the bizarre events, and deal with any dangerous elements to ensure these dangers no longer plague the area. I am particularly interested in ancient Kellid glyphs that might protect against the occult emanations we are dealing with.

Dragos strolls out of the Manor, glad that the haunting has stopped and wondering who owned the deeds so that he could convert it. Shelving such ideals for now, the Undertaker reads the note over his comrades shoulders and hums to himself.
"Oh yes! the Ancient Kellid ruins! This place was once overrun by the uncouth Kellids before it became Ustalav! Horrible lot that gave over to blood rituals and nasty gods."
He taps his fingers to his lips, obviously thinking before continuing.
"The Ol' WHispering Tyrant, terribly dreary fellow he was, avoided the kellid sites like the plague, as do most of the locals funnily enough! Just like casting horseshoes, they think Iron shavings will keep the spirits at bay!"
Vol Tarkan |
"These locations certainly are strange and interesting. If we can find ways to ward against this kind of phenomena that would certainly be useful. If magic glyphs are the key to this i'm keen to study them too."
Michael Hallet |
The great monolith of the ancient Kellids towers over the barren hillside. A distant flash of red lightning silently illuminates the muggy air, revealing a hole that gapes in the slope like a toothless mouth. Several dozen feet away rises a low mound of dirt and loose rock.

"That large eye surrounded by a hexagon looks like a Kellid protection glyph known as 'Gorrum's Eye'."
Vol takes a moment to try to work out some of the other runes on the monolith.
"I think i can also decipher some of the other glyphs... hmmm those two are 'protection' and 'stone'. The two on the other side are 'grave' and 'pit'. I'm sure it's no surprise to hear that last one there is 'evil'." He tries to sound jovial but due to the subject matter it sounds more like a desperate attempt to hide his own trepidation.

Dragos concurs with the Spell-sword's assessment of the Glyphs and then points at the ground beneath their feet, frowning slightly.
"Well chaps, it would appear some clawed Man-thing has been coming and going from the tunnel here. We should be careful and press on, the Professor did ask us to explore the place. But first, he did say he was interested in the glyphs, we should note the down."
Before following Krudenk into the tunnel, the Druid copies the glyphs from the Monolith for the Professor.
Michael Hallet |
The tunnel extends only a few feet through the soil before meeting a stone, partially collapsed hallway. The passage to the northwest is choked with fallen rubble, and it extends to the east.
The walls and ceiling of this eerie chamber are made from row after row of stacked bones, layers of skulls, rib cages, and arm and leg bones piled from floor to ceiling and cemented in place. On the far wall, red dyed skulls have been arranged into the symbol of an eye within an elongated hexagon.
As you take in the scene, pale giant centipedes, their color, blending into the bones, dart from their hiding place to hunt. One darts forward and sinks its fangs into Dragos.

A broad well with low sides plunges into the middle of this large chamber. A heavy iron cover leans against the east wall. Near the well, a mound of gnawed bones, scraps of clothing, and discarded possessions speak to some unholy feast. From deep within the well rises a susurrus of faint scratches, scrapes, and breathing.
A creature with wrinkled skin and long, clawed hands pulls itself up from the lip of the well and start chattering.
