So a few thoughts on combat: I will roll all initiatives in a single post when combat begins to help prevent unneeded delays. And I plan on running initiative in blocks as that seems to run more smoothly in PbP format since individual's posting times vary. This seems to be pretty standard for PbP campaigns especially PFS ones, but below is a rundown of how it works in case you are not familiar:
PCs and Baddies will essentially be able to leap their allies in initiative, but not their enemies. Bold characters will be free to act in combat. For example, assuming the rolls created this order:
PC 1
PC 2
PC 3
Monster 1
Monster 2
PC 4
After all three act. Then:
PC 1
PC 2
PC 3
Monster 1
Monster 2
PC 4
Then:
PC 1
PC 2
PC 3
Monster 1
Monster 2
PC 4
Then back to the top for Round 2.

Checking in.
I'm okay with all of the above. I'm just finishing up my most recent scenario which will push up my to level 4.
For the parties benefit, Kiyoshis strengths are diplomacy, healing and party support. He is completely non-violent (I've never made a weapon attack roll with him) carrying his deities favoured weapon only out of respect. However, he will contribute to combat with healing and buffs.
In case people aren't aware of him out of character, Kiyoshi worships Qi Zhong, the Tian Xia god of healing and magic. The rest I'll leave to in character introductions.
Lilt the Bard |
The masked worshiper of Nethys bows before the rest of the party. "Hello friends, I am Lilt the Bard. I seem to make for an excellent diplomat, threaten people with ease, and have a glib tongue when it comes to lies, though would prefer not to do so too often. I am also gifted with the magical arts, specifically enchantment, and have spells at my disposal to beguile and intrigue... though only know one in way of offense: burning hands"
I am both a dual cursed oracle (so Misfortune WILL come into play) and a crossblooded sorcerer with the fey and undead bloodlines. My specialty is compulsion spells (so my DCs are pretty high there) but also have charm person just in case. In combat I will either try to use compulsions, or switch to burning hands/my wand of magic missile. Oh, and because I thought it more important than diplomacy for some reason (even though my character is not REALLY a bard), my Perform: String skill has a modifier of +14... not sure when that will ever come in handy, but I always couple a bluff/intimidate/diplomacy check with a perform check since I will constantly be strumming depending on the mood.
If you want a story as to how Lilt might handle combat, here's one from an in person game: We ran into the BBEG talking with a bunch of his underlings, and thankfully had the element of surprise... so Lilt cast Glitterdust on them, blinding half of them, including the BBEG, though the second in command saved. The turn went by, and somehow we managed to kill the lot fo them except for the second in command and the BBEG (who was still blind), so I cast murderous command on the second in command... who proceded to charge his boss, hitting him in the process. Still blind, the BBEG proceeds to CRIT his second in command, one shotting him completely (he originally had full health as he was evading all out attacks).

Awesome. Everything looks good on your sheet Kiyoshi, but you might want to pick up a masterwork backpack before we begin as you are just over the line into heavy encumbrance.
And if everyone could let me know when they finish up sheets, so I can double check them/plug them into the HeroLab party portfolio for my own ease of reference, I would appreciate it :).

Hello Hello. Looking forward to the game!
Charmed Life:
Charmed Life (Ex): At 2nd level, the swashbuckler
gains a knack for getting out of trouble. Three times per
day as an immediate action before attempting a saving
throw, she can add her Charisma modifier to the result
of the save. She must choose to do this before the roll
is made.
Hard to play exactly RAW in PBP since most saves are rolled by the GM. Caleb tends to reserve this ability for Will Saves so if you'd like, for ease of play, assume I apply this ability to the first three Will Save I have to make per day if that works for you?

Cheers, encumbrance was the one thing I hadn't updated. I'll get that purchased and added.

Also, I'm a capefighter! Hehe ;)
I wanted to clarify this also because I'm unsure.
Feat: Dueling Cape
As a move action, you can wrap a cape that
you're wearing around your arm (removing it if necessary),
and treat it as a buckler. If you are using the cape in this
way, and an opponent misses you with a melee attack, as an
immediate action you can spend i panache point to release
your cape from your arm and entangle your foe in it.
The foe can free it by using a full-round action to escape
or by destroying the cape; a typical cape has hardness 1
and 3 hit points. You can use this feat with items similar
in shape and weight to a cape, such as a cloak or a curtain.
While using this with a +1`Cloak of Resistance make that a +1 buckler?
I rarely entangle when I'm using it out of fear of some mook running off with my cape but I've used other things like the curtains etc, pretty hilarious

I'm here, and my profile is up=to-date. Except gear, which is a bit iffy. I own a masterwork backpack, but still carry only certain items to stay in light encumbrance. I have about 1,500 GP unspent, so I may just buy a mithral shirt to help with this issue.
Also, the point of Darius (from a mechanical perspective) is to prove that a well-built CRB rogue can be effective. Although my weapons are from Ultimate Combat. But seriously, a short sword SHOULD be both slashing and piercing. A dagger is too, so I could switch I guess, if I wanted to stay strictly core...
I've invested in Acrobatics and Stealth, as well as a bit in social skills, so even without a CHA modifier I can help in a diplomatic situation.
As for fighting, it's all about getting into a flank and trying to land as many sneak attacks as possible with TWF.
Some folks have played D&D and Pathfinder for years. I have not (just over 1.5 yrs of Pathfinder), even though I've played other systems. So I mostly play core "classic" classes, in very traditional ways.
Darius is a loyal son of Taldor who hopes to see his once-great nation return to a place of prominence. If he happens to gain some measure of prominence for himself, so much the better...

Slips on her Rules Lawyer hat...
Kiyoshi, you are good to go.
Darius, your gear actually weighs 52lbs (2 pounds over into medium encumbrance), you also still have 4 skill points left to spend and you need points in disable device to use those thieves tools, and while not super important, what is your second language (from the 13 int)?
Lilt, assuming where you put your one favoured class bonus, you have overspent by 2 skill points and your HP is 1 point too high, or you have overspent by 3 skill points and your HP is correct. Also, just to double check, do you have no weapons?
Caleb, you should have 25 HP, not 24 (10+1, 6+1, 6+1). And You cannot select Trap Finder as a trait in PFS since it is a campaign trait. There are some other traits that provide you with disable device as a class skill (such as vagabond child or criminal) but they do lack that magical trap aspect of Trap Finder unfortunately.
And it would be lovely if someone might be able to confirm or refute this, but as it is written, I do not think the resistance bonus from your cloak applies to the AC bonus granted by the dueling cape feat.
Farg, You have "swim" listed twice as a skill, so just wanted to double check where that other skill point should have gone. Minor thing that is frequently missed I think, but the trait you want for the bite is actually "tusked" and not "toothy." Toothy is something different.
And can I get your character's PFS number? (Either posted or PM'd to me, whichever is fine.)
Jasmine, can I get your additional languages?

Ah, good catch. I may have been looking over two different sheets when putting in the stats. The corrected HP is 14, and I took two points out of my skills. And no, I don't have a weapon as... well, a -7 to attack rolls means I shouldn't even really try.
As for the cape, I'm pretty sure since the RAW does not specifically say you can add the bonus... well, you can't add the bonus. Unless there has been a FAQ...
Darius Marel |
First off, I realized the tone of my initial post here sounded kind of brusque. I certainly am not trying to be critical of anyone else's character choice or playstyle.
I sometimes get defensive about my own choices, mostly because I feel like I'm being boring when I play single-classed CRB classes. As evidenced by the number of errors on my sheet, I'm still learning! So I hope to have an enjoyable time in the game.
Anyway, I can provide chronicle scans if needed on the GP. I did have enough money to buy a mithral shirt (1,100 GP). Only 10 lbs. and no ACP! All my gear is up-to-date, and my missing skill points were in Disable Device and Linguistics. Profile clearly shows where the ranks have ben placed. Languages updated also.
GM Sersi |
No worries, I think it is a clever challenge to make a rogue that is solely core. And I will trust everyone did their gp bookkeeping correctly for money :)
I'm more just wanting to help make sure everyone is legal for this and for when they go on to other games. Not trying to be mean or anything about being super RAW, but PFS really promotes that...
Kiyoshi, Lilt, and Darius are all good to go. Everyone else is super close :)
Caleb Gance |
Will update and post within the hour. So sorry for the delay guys Ibookmarked the wrong link I think. Don't replace meh :D
Caleb Gance |
Its pending FAQ for the Cape issue. For now I'll leave the ball in your court to decide. My profile and statline reflect a flat +1 ac instead of assuming a +2 :) It was just something I was curious on.
Caleb Gance |
Also if others are MIA like me shoot them a PM. Maybe they have the broken link like I did. Here is where my link to this game was taking me;

Indeed, it's so vague. I have spare paid for cloaks(on sheet, weight accounted for), til they FAQ it is it ok to assume I travel with one of them coiled around or wrapped around my left fore-arm? Still a move action to unfurl it into Buckler mode?
No sense risking the good cape since the feat allows for me to grab a curtain/sheet/etc instead of a worn cloak? Glad to be here! :D
Darius Marel |
Crap! So, I hope my attack on number three doesn't screw us up. I debated using acrobatics to get in a flank, but thought it just better to get #4, leaving #2 for him.
I could have 5' stepped first, I guess. Or specified I stop attacking if #4 went down. Does my hit ruin the spell?
Lilt the Bard |
And guess who's going to cast another spell when Lilt goes again?
...
LILT!
I was going to command these things to run away from me, but from where I'm standing, they'd go in front of the... hehehe. Hey GM, do I think that if one of these things was in the way of the boat when it moves next (I'm guessing top of the round), that it could cause serious damage to it? :3
Caleb Gance |
I do ok up front, when I'm up front I always keep my CloakCape "turned on", I'd be a fool otherwise. However, I'd prefer 2nd for RP reasons ;) Always look out for number one is high on Caleb's 'to do' list these days!
Farg |
Farg while no natural frontliner can stand there. He delivers the beats but can't take em as well as he should...
Caleb Gance |
Maybe if there's enough room Caleb and Farg can go shoulder to shoulder and both be up front. I have a few tricks up my sleeve but need room to dance around for a couple of them.
Lilt the Bard |
Well, I warned them. Now I'm going to make them start attacking each other, and have to potentially kill all of them...
Hehehe I was going to just set an example by performing a coup de gras with on the first one that dropped... with burning hands... unfortunately I have to do it with a melee weapon.
Still, my original idea would probably be horrifying enough to make the others NOT want to continue.
Darius Marel |
I'm just waiting on the AOO's. Caleb and Farg got some good rolls, and if the pirate drops it will influence my action.

I may be out of town til sunday, I'll post Caleb's next action since I may be MIA

I'm chaotic neutral enough to see to the clean end to any of the privateers if you'd like. No questions asked.

Will update as we gain/spend/use. Cheers!
Caleb Gance |
So we have a magical Anchor Feather token. Should we hold onto it for now or see if we can pawn it once we've settled in? For consumables. Lesser Restoration and Cure Potions. I'm kind of a planner so if I go overboard let me know. Well prepared Pathfinders are living Pathfinders :)
Farg |
Sory folks for lagging was away over the weekend with really sucky wireless...
Caleb Gance |
No worries Farg slow weekends happen on PBP's. I'm sure we'll be moving soon though. We gathered some infos.
Kiyoshi Wakahisa |
Since there's been no progression in the plot in over 10 days and no response to any of my queries, I'm going to give this game until tomorrow, then I'll be withdrawing my character as we'll never progress through a module at this rate of play.
