Gah. I'm sick and trying to fight it off because Wei Ji arrives today and SkalCon starts tomorrow. I collapsed last night and asked Bret to update you all. Bleah. I'm sniffly and awful.

We have plenty of time to complete this scenario. Take a couple days off here, rest, get through your con, tell Wei Ji I said hello, and get back to us early next week.

GM Hmm |

No time -- We're on a timer.
I'm bringing in a sub for two days ----- King of Anything. He was an overseer GM, and he can monitor you while I'm sleeping this off.
Does this sound okay?

Sorry you are feeling badly, hope you get well soon! Tell Jim hi from me as well! ^_^

GM Hmm |

Hey Gang, I'm almost off to SkalCon but I still feel like death on toast. On the other hand, King's got a race this weekend so I'll try to check into game play and see what if anything you might need to resolve.
Hugs to you all.

Well my table of Haunting of Hinojai went really well. I didn't kill anyone, though my goodness my monsters really tried to do so. They scared the bejeebus out of everyone. It was great fun.
Now... to collapse before my GMing adrenaline wears off.
Wei Ji played at my table so I got to GM for him live, and I've now met Thursty and Toz and a whole bunch of other people from the boards. Bret won the chance to play a retired scenario for credit, Hand of the Muted God, GMed by the scenario's author. He had great fun.
I hope all of you are having a good weekend. I also hope that my health holds up for GMing Cosmic Captive.
See you later,
Hmm

Linkfor FAQ on Magic Missile vs Mirror Image btw.
On other notes Clinton Boomer is a lot of fun and Hands of the Muted God is a great scenario.

That sounds like a blast, Hmm! Sorry you were feeling a bit under the weather, I know that can really dampen the fun sometimes. Glad you were able to enjoy it!

GM Hmm |

Hey guys, I'm back!!! I'm hoping that in the next two days we can push forward hard to make up for lost time. Can you guys help me get there? I want to get through the Ophidian Rectory before we get moved on to Part III of the scenario by GM Mars.

Thanks for recording your wand healing, Ely! I appreciate the transparency.
Everyone, I'll be botting Cacu and Daeris in about an hour in order to move us forward to the second round of combat. I'll be taking us through this next section at a very fast clip in order to get us completed before the start of Part III.
Between my illness and SkalCon, we slipped a bit behind where I want us to be, and I'm catching us up.

[b]As a group, you can attempt a single skill check using one of the following skills: Heal, Knowledge (dungeoneering, planes, or religion), Profession (scribe), or Survival.
Do we have anyone with very high Heal or Survival? Those are the ones that would be easiest to aid another on. Otherwise, those Knowledge skills might be our best shot if anyone is highly trained in those.

![]() |

Reesa has been, and continues to be, worthless on all these skills checks in this whole scenario!

GM Hmm |

You can always attempt to aid another, Reesa! Life is tough for 2+int skill classes in Season 7. It truly is the year of the skill check! But at least they offer a variety of skills each time that can qualify for this.
Daeris has a survival of +9.
Balon has a knowledge religion of +11 but I think he's the only one with that skill.

BTW, thank you for being patient with me through the illness and SkalCon delay. On a positive note, I got into the lottery table of Hands of the Muted God on Sunday and got to play it along side TOZ. It really was a fabulous scenario, if a bit deadly. We faced anti paladins, a drider, tons of drow and a vrock! I think what I most enjoyed about it was the enthusiasm of the GM, who geeked out over every bit of player shenanigans that happened.
Hmm

GM Hmm |

Guys, here is the GM's not subtle hint. Aid another in all the social skills available.

![]() |

I got to say, I don't like idea of using bluff or especially intimidate on this guy. Are we really going to need them all?
Can Guen attempt an aid another on Diplo, maybe give him a friendly leg-rub or something?

Hey all, just checking in to say I had an unexpectedly full day today, so I don't think I'll be able to get a post in until tomorrow. Sorry!
In related news, I'll be starting at a new job soon!

![]() |

So sorry for my absence the last couple of days. Got hit by a nasty flu and have basically spent two days unconscious. Thanks for the bot in that last combat!

GM Hmm |

Congratulations on the new job, Ely! Cacu, this is a game where even the GM had to be botted for a couple days. I had that very same flu, I think.
I'll be likely gone until lunch time, at which point I'll likely bot a bunch of rolls if they haven't happened by then. Yes, it's another crazy Wednesday.
As for the bluff and intimidate, think of them as flattering the general or showing your own martial capability -- strut your stuff!

And my timing was good (if a little rushed at the end) because now we're in Part III, having made it (barely) through every required* encounter in Part II!
Yay!
I'll be moving you forward soon.
Hmm
___
* My poor, sad little trash eaters (an additional encounter that I was wanting to run) never did get to meet you. Oh well. They and their pet, Mr. Jiggles, will have to sadly be relegated to the sidelines while you move on!

GM Hmm |

Daeris tries to remain calm while the others attempt to work out what is going on. "They used to speak Common, have they lost that ability now?"
Actually none of the Azlantis you've met have spoken common so far. I've just shifted to giving you the direct translations once a translator who shared a language showed up. You guys met some azlantis who spoke Thassilonian earlier, and then a general who spoke elven.
The only ones who spoke common from the very beginning were a few of the more elevated serpentfolk, who for some reason had common in their statblocks. I'm assuming that they learned it in order to communicate with the janitors (the oytughs who clean the place.) That was in fact the only reason I could justify that they had common in their statblocks while the azlantis didn't!
Hmm

GM Hmm |

Don't worry about it. We've had an absurd number of encounters in this so far and many languages spoken -- aklo, draconic, azlanti, thassilonian, elven and abyssal! I've been amazed that so far you've been able to communicate without magic.

I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon for a conference in Boston for several days, so my posting may be restricted through next Wednesday. Please bot me as necessary.

^ You've made that megalomaniac bot's day!
Hmm

![]() |

It's crazy how personifying (androidifying?) the botting process has managed to make me irrationally afraid of it! *runs*
I think it's possible my understanding of how the Sky Key Vault is here now may be incorrect. Are we saying it was originally here in this time, or that it came back in time with us? Seems like it would have been destroyed during Earthfall if it was here originally since that event remade the landscape...

GM Hmm |

I think that Bot Buddy keeps me sane as a GM, because I can pretend that all this botting is not being done by me. It's just sort of happening on its own because I have this megalomaniac robot that will not stay in its box.
Also, having you want to avoid being botted -- that's a win!
It's much less work for me to not have to bot players. However, Bot Buddy is a needed persona for me to keep games moving, especially games under a time crunch! It also helps the clarity for me, keeping botted posts separate from my own.
It amuses me how much personality Bot Buddy has, though. He's been this arrogant construct from the very beginning.

GM Hmm |

You all stealthed in on me as I was composing!
Hmm

GM Hmm |

It stood up again. Do you wish to delay until Ely flips it? I'm willing to let you ready your action.

![]() |

Oh! Ok, I missed that part. No delay, I was just thinking it would have +8 to ac vs a ranged attack because it was prone and in melee. I still would have dropped the bow and moved in though. Just glad it doesn't have 23+ AC. That would be rough!

GM Hmm |

I agree!

I'll be out most Monday. I have to go tackle the state/county who decided I didn't send them necessary paperwork regarding health care and then I'll be working in the evening. Likely won't post until after midnight.
