Thanks for the heads-up, Norv. Don't worry about slipping. It's more important to take care of yourself. :)

No problems, feel better!

Just a few heads ups since we're possibly going to see combat soon...
1) I typically roll initiative for everyone, and group creatures of like type together. (So, in this case for example, the two gnolls would act on the same initiative count.
2) I'm much more aggressive about botting in 24 hours when in combat to avoid bogging us down.
3) I drew a red line on the map because it's hard to understand what's going on there from the image: the red line is the edge of the ship's forecastle. To move east of that, you need to either go into the cabin (through one of the marked doors) or climb the 5' ladder onto the forecastle itself.
Let me know if there are any questions!

I'll be out of town this weekend, on a gaming con. My posting might be a bit spotty. Botting instruction, should it be needed:
Amut prefers melee combat. She's liberal with Parry/Riposte, but will keep 1 Panache in reserve.
If below half hit points, she'll Fight Defensively and use Dodging Panache.
If the situation turns dire for the party, she'll use Blade Lash to trip the most dangerous opponent and give the party a breather.
Out of combat, Amut is free with her wand of CLW, asking someone else to use it on her of anyone else who's wounded.

Don't forget to make your Perception checks, everyone. We're in a pretty tough spot, anything could make the difference.

![]() |

I can't make that Perception DC even with a nat 20.

You're not unconscious, Roscoe. At 0 HP you're only Disabled, so you can take 1 Move action per round without getting worse, but the first Standard action you take (or second Move action in a round) will cause you to go negative.
Next round I'll hand you a potion of Healing if you like. Drinking it is a Standard action, but you'll immediately get HP to compensate.
And I believe Perception is a Free action (someone wiser than me please let me know if I'm wrong), so you can do that.

![]() |

Sorry, I was being facetious. I'm thinking Roscoe is ok once I get this potion off. Sadly, it just has to take two turns due to the limited actions of being disabled. It makes you appreciate a Handy Haversack at later levels... :)

![]() |

Is there much of a difference between drinking the potion now vs. next round? Seems like there's not.

![]() |

Yup, you're right. One action per round, Move keeps you disabled but alive, Standard takes you into negatives.
I know how I'd rule it as GM. I'm wondering if I got it right.

Regarding the "standing up from prone vs. AoO" question, I found this.
Attacks of Opportunity caused by a creature standing up from prone happen before the creature loses the prone condition. So the attackers still swing at the reduced AC.
That makes sense to me, but as always I'll take whatever ruling is made.

What would the haversack do?
Actually, I guess not much after re-checking. It reduces the item grab from a standard action to a move action. Still helpful overall though :)

Quintillus Hispaninus wrote:What would the haversack do?Actually, I guess not much after re-checking. It reduces the item grab from a standard action to a move action. Still helpful overall though :)
Interesting.

Actually, retrieving an item is always a move action. The Handy Haversack doesn't reduce that. It does remove the Attack of Opportunity that retrieving an item would normally provoke.

Sorry folks - my wife gave birth Saturday morning, so I'll be slow to respond. I 'll try to get posts in when I can, but I'm confident GM Nora can bot Roscoe's action as needed.

Congratulations, Roscoe!

![]() |

Man, Roscoe's news is way better than Quintillus's.
Congrats Roscoe!

Starting the full-round action to administer it to the unconscious Thundering Spirit.
I was not aware of this. I assume the Standard action happens this round, and a Move action completes it next round, allowing Amut a Standard action next round?

![]() |

Yep, that's what I was going for.
