Why did Bizzle's work, but Raoul's failed? Just out of curiosity? Was it because Bizzle's wand was higher CL?

Oh, my mistake! Because I read Bizzle's message too quickly and didn't see it was from a wand and assumed a 3d4+3 missile would be cast by him. Thanks for pointing that out! ;)

Bizzle's missiles also fail!

It's been more than 24 hours since Boom was up and hasn't posted - I'm botting her so we can hope to finish this game today.

The first Jiang-Shi tries to stop chuckling uncontrolably, but can't!

Ref: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17 It doesn't fall in the pit.

The most wounded one steps aside to keep clear of the pit, then claws at Boom, raking her with her undead fingernails.
Claw: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Confirmation: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Grab: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
Damage: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 = 12
She grapples the alchemist, opens its grinning mouth and starts swallowing the alchemist's very soul!
Fort: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Boom gives in, letting go of some of her soul and feeling drained as a result. 1 negative level and staggered for 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds, on top of the grappled condition.

Orphyro stands up and cures himself.
CSW: 3d8 + 7 ⇒ (2, 6, 3) + 7 = 18

Ace will take the same tack and cast Hideous Laughter on the Jiang-Shi grappling with Boom by throwing a small tart in the face of his ratling familiar.

I think that one will be out of commission for at least 30 seconds! We need to get Boom free! After this, I need to go back to drinking with people who don't try to eat my soul... Well, what's left of it.

The Jiang-Shi starts chuckling in a sinister manner as well, falling prone with Boom!

Interesting situation. Since the spell doesn't say that the creature drops what it's holding, I'll adjudicate that the grapple holds until the Jiang-Shi's turn, at which point it won't be able to use an action to maintain it any longer and will let Boom go free. In the meantime, Boom also falls on the ground.

Bizzle looks at his wand, shrugs, and drops it. He then grabs his crossbow and tries to remember how to use it. Once he does he tries to shoot the vampire thing closest to him. If I understand right its prone?

Raoul is going to delay. There's just not much he can do.

24 hours again, Boom delays because there's not much she can do while staggered and grappled at the same time except try and break the grapple, which is pointless because the jiang-shi won't be able to maintain it on its turn. Boom can't use her greatsword either (only one hand free while grappled).

I've just realized that since the action to try and end the hideous laughter is a full-round action, the Jiang-Shi can't attempt it except if they take their standard actions in two consecutive rounds.
Will: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 2 = 18 DC 21 *fail*
Will: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 2 = 14 DC 21 *fail*

Will: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 2 = 29 DC 21 *success*
Will: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 9 + 2 = 24 DC 21 *success*
That means they'll break the spell in four rounds, which is ample time to deal with them despite their fast healing. Orphyro can't do anything useful from the bottom of his pit, which will last for another 4 rounds if I'm not mistaken. Fast forward to four rounds later.

The Jiang-Shi Vampires prove quite resilient, but you finally manage to end their existence with your continued efforts. As the pit spell ends, Orphyro is brought back at your level and sees both his minions destroyed and Imelda lying in her blood at his feet. He shakes his head.

"I surrender, there's no point in fighting for a hopeless cause, especially since this feud was Imelda's thing to start with. You say Dakar is the one who asked you to spare me? Very well, I owe him one then."

With Orphyro giving up, the Karela threat has apparently ended, and Kaer Maga has been purged of the elements threatening the owner of the Pickled Imp. However, several documents found in Pallbearers suggest that some members of the Gael family have already departed to perform a desperate attack on Uncle Guaril. Regardless, your job in Kaer Maga is done and you have won the day!

This is the end of the scenario. I hope you enjoyed playing it as much as I did GMing it - your roleplaying contribution was memorable!

You only get one chance to break Hideous Laughter anyway. If you fail the second save, then you are affected for the entirety of the spell duration.
