Sorry, I'm a bit confused - so our movement choices in this room are to a) swim at half speed with a successful swim check, b) use 4 squares of movement per square of "deep bog", or c) a DC 10 climb check and...acrobatics to hop from one animal to the next throughout the room, or no other roll required?

DM Kludde |

a and b are right. c would just be like scaling a wall, so you'd be climbing the taxidermic pieces on the wall (and lose you dex bonus while doing so). Beats me why anyone would do that (unless you have a climb speed)

![]() |

I'm assuming DC 10 for calm water
Swim (DC 10): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Iskim makes his way into the room, past Scarlet, drawing his blade once more. Once he finds his footing, he readies an attack against the strange creatures.
Move action: Move 10' (40' normal speed) into the room
Standard action: Attack
Attack (Greatsword, Power Attack): 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 1 = 8
Damage (Greatsword, Power Attack): 2d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 2) + 4 + 3 = 12

Skarn swims forward to be able to glimpse at the fairies, then orders one of them. "They intend to betray you. Kill it before it kills you!"
Swim DC 10?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Casting murderous command, Will DC 15 negates.
Finally, Skarn orders Fianna to attack.
Success is automatic on the Handle Animal check.

°Fianna° |

Fianna obeys her master and companion, swimming into the room. The she-wolf has a hard time adapting to this environment at first, but them is able to find a way forward.
Swim: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Swim: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Double move, but the first one fails.

DM Kludde |

Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Skarn tries to turn of the fairies onto the other, while Fianna has a hard time moving up. Iskim takes up a defensive position.

The spell description actually speaks of a "mental urge", and does not require the target to understand the caster's language. My description was purely for flavor.

perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Moving into the room, Bones points to the cage, "There's a man in the birdcage! Can you not see toothless fellow partially submerged surrounded by the stuffed birds?"
The cleric fires a icicle at one of the Tooth fey.
icicle range touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
cold damage if hits: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

DM Kludde |

My reaction was also just for flavour. The creature made the save

DM Kludde |

In that case, I'm going to resolve the tooth fairies turns (I made a mistake above)
The tooth fairies fly up to Fianna. One tries to take one of the snarling teeth with the pliers, but a defensive swat of the beast quickly ends that plan. The other just tries to pinch the wolf, but is too careful.
Pliers, Steal, Fianna: 1d20 + 9 - 5 ⇒ (11) + 9 - 5 = 15

OK so lots of climb and acro needed it seems?
Tailor this as needed, the idea is to try get past and then flank and attack, of this round its just moving thats fine
Seeing her friends now engaged and the nasty creatures in range...
Scarlet scampers onto the nearest stuffed animal
Climb 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Flips acrobatically across the room on the mounted trophies...
Acrobatics 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Uses her momentum to pass the evil leprechaun as she flips past it...
Acrobatics to avoid AOO 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 vs CMD
Then claws from a flank.
Attack 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 = 16
Damage 1d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + (6) = 9

DM Kludde |

Fianna snaps back, but apparently the terror of losing teeth is too much for the wolf. Skarn and Adrianna swim on in the water.
I didn't get an exact count, but my gut feeling says there's at least two move actions in that climb-acro-acro combo
Scarlet nimbly moves through the room using the taxidermic pieces, then moves past the tooth fairy with grace.

Swim (DC 10): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Iskim swims toward the nearest fairy and swings his blade at the thing.
Move action: Move 5', as indicated on map
Standard action: Attack fairy
Attack (Greatsword (2H), Power Attack): 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 1 = 18

DM Kludde |

Can I get an action for rasamoro?

![]() |

Rasamoro swam to a strange fey and used his katana to attack.
Swim: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Katana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 DMG: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
It was hard to find solid point to stand, so he missed.
Sorry for delaying everyone

DM Kludde |

Rasamoro moves forward - slowly - and strike out with his katana. He also strikes wide.
The tooth faerie tries to wrench a tooth from Scarlet with its pliers.
Steal, Scarlet : 1d20 + 9 - 5 ⇒ (13) + 9 - 5 = 17
Scarlet, Rasamoro and Skarn get an AoO on the faerie
The faerie manages to pull a tooth from Scarlet's mouth.
Stealing a tooth deals 1 point of Charisma damage and 1 point of bleed damage. If the stolen tooth is reattached within 10 minutes and the character receives any amount of magical healing, the tooth reattaches, the bleed damage ends, and the Charisma damage is cured.
The water-pixie weaves an enchantment, and tries to bring Rasamoro to her side
Conc, defensive: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Charm person on Rasamoro, DC 17 will save with a +5 bonus to negate

Adrianna's arrow flies wide, but Iskim strikes true, and cleaves the small skull of the nixie with great force.
Combat over!
One of the stuffed meadowlarks floating in the cage is actually a highly realistic feather token (bird)
The man in the cage is familiar: it is none other than Virml!
That's strange though, didn't you see him go upstairs from the entry hall to the scriptorium?

![]() |

Scarlet moves to the cage "If you are here, locked in a cage, then who was that walking around wearing your face?" she enquires as she gets to work on the lock.
Disable Device - take 10 for '20', or take 20... I reckon we aren't in a huge rush.

DM Kludde |

Scarlet manages to disable the lock on the cage, and free the - now mostly toothless - Virml. He looks miserable and says It's all my fault. I took a dare from my peers, and pilfered this scroll from the understacks. It contained a long riddle, which I read aloud. The scroll split in pieces, all over the place and a fox-man appeared. He was so... convincing. He convinced me to search the understacks, saying he was looking for something, not completely clear to me what. Books on the first world? Does that make sense?
When he found what he was looking for, he locked me in this cage, and left me to these faeries that he summoned using a fragment of the scroll. They took all my teeth!
Then the water level started to rise...

![]() |

"We have to find the other you! Before it wreaks havoc on the entire city!!" Adrianna says as she starts to move towards the door.
As the group makes its way back up, she asks Virml, "What did the fox find? Do you remember?"

DM Kludde |

I'm not sure, some arcane-looking tome. He kept muttering something about getting revenge on a fey that trapped him

DM Kludde |

The big fish upstairs was squirting the water that floods all the rooms

![]() |

May be if we read the riddle loud again, the fox will return? We have several parts of scroll. Do you remember how many was there?, asked Rasamoro.

![]() |

Bones takes a moment to reattach what teeth he can for the man as the group decides what to do.
-Posted with Wayfinder

DM Kludde |

The fox was holding three parts of it when he left. He used one to summon those awful faeries, they stole all of my teeth!
