The arcane bolt smashes home, and leave the stench of burned, rotten flesh as the final zombie collapses.

Actually, I'm gonna take the opportunity to aid Aeris in HIS perception check, since a +2 should boost it over. It's gotta be better than 10, right?

Rod pants as he puts away his scythe, before glancing over the area. "So... that's what's been going on here. Well... looks like he's been done in by his own ambition. Fitting, I guess..." Rod's eyes are drawn by Aeris's gaze as he checks the poor half-angel for more grievous injuries. Initially, he notices nothing off or strange, but... something compels him to take another glance.

Aeris makes his way down the passage toward the room where the dhampir lies, moving carefully across the patch of greased floor to collect his bow. As he picks it up, he says, "I'm fine, Depravity, and I owe you one. I guess I was thinking we'd all move up and fight them, and suddenly I was standing there facing three zombies with a line of real fighters well behind me. Anyway, I appreciate you dragging me out of there and healing me."

He turns to look around the chamber a bit and says, "Hey, Rod, what's that behind you? Do you see it too, Depravity? It looks like it's just a little cleft in the rock, but there's a passageway..."

He looks more closely at it and says, "Yep, there's a passage here. Someone else want to go first this time? Rod, Ba'al?"

As the adventurers move to the passageway, the begin to hear faint, muffled sound of combat. Somewhat later, they hear a familiar voice half-shouting, half-reciting: As the legendary Gregaro Voth successfully battled the wild beasts in the deepest reaches of the Mwangi Expanse, so shall I defeat you, foul servant of Lamashtu!

The passage turns into a maze of tunnel, tight spaces, winding passages up and down, left and right. Janira's words are now sufficiently audible, and she's clearly fighting for her life. She keeps shouting encouragement for herself, which is clearly improving the mood of the adventurers as well.

Rod will go ahead and take point. Having my flail and a torch at the ready as we go.

Rod leads the way cautiously through the darkened cave tunnel, before perking up at the sound of Janira shouting bravely, in spite of her dangerous situation. "Janira! C'mon, she sounds like she's in trouble!"

As he pressed ahead swiftly, the notion that it might be that minotaur from early creeped into the back of his mind. And as the only human of the group, he likely at the most right to be worried about facing it. But that didn't trouble him; he couldn't let it. He was a Pathfinder now, and bravery was part and parcel with the membership! "Be ready! If it's that minotaur from earlier, we're going to have one heckuva battle on our hands!"

@Baru: The bracers are Bracers of protection +1. The longsword is at least masterwork, and is enchanted, but other than that there is little that Baru gleams.

Suddenly, upon reaching a larger open spot, the walls seem to come alive. Upon closer inspection, two giant amoebas are stirring - having found the adventurers as prey.

Rod skidded to a halt as the walls drip with amoebas, one of which slimes right up in front of him. Snarled, he reared back his flail and attempted to splatter it right down the middle, hoping to smash it back all over the walls it came from.

With one of the amoebas already gone, Baru engulfs the other one with acid. Even though his shot is somewhat poor, the amoeba is large enough to be hit by the splash.

The remaining amoeba moves towards Depravity, trying to engulf her and dissolve her. Luckily for Depravity, the thing is slow.

And I already have another in urgent need of aid!" he snarls, bringing back his flail and swinging it down at the amoeba. "So I won't be tolerating you attacking another!"

I also totally forgot to add Janira's Inspire Courage bonus from earlier... not that it seems to matter.

Towards the end of the tunnel, a light can be seen, as the sounds of battle become clearer and clearer.

The light of the surface world above provides a welcome reprieve from the blue and green fungus of the caverns below, and light illuminates a stream whose water is hastened by runoff from a recent storm further up the mountains. A ledge to the west rises up to the nearby forest canopy.

The full moon casts a dim light over the grove. There, in the distance, Janira is battling that same minotaur of earlier. The axe the beast is holding is clearly damaged - it must've been the loud crackling you heard earlier. Janira still sounds brave, but is clearly in trouble.

Aeris hustles out of the cavern mouth and towards the battle across the stream, calling on Calistria's judgment to aid him in saving Janira from the minotaur. As he moves, he pauses and looses an arrow at the minotaur.

A sleep spell causes a magical slumber to come upon 4 HD of creatures. Creatures with the fewest HD are affected first. Among creatures with equal HD, those who are closest to the spell's point of origin are affected first. HD that are not sufficient to affect a creature are wasted. Sleeping creatures are helpless. Slapping or wounding awakens an affected creature, but normal noise does not. Awakening a creature is a standard action (an application of the aid another action). Sleep does not target unconscious creatures, constructs, or undead creatures.

Ba'al and Depravity, each in a slightly altered form, hurry towards the stream while Aeris does the same and wildly fires an arrow.

Baru's spell hits the minotaur, but the spell seems to have little effect. Baru intuitively knows the creature is too bulky, too strong of build to be affected. As in, too many HD.

Janira takes a step back and tries to disarm the minotaur with her whip, but the whip doesn't even connect.

Attack, disarm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

The large bull-headed creature make a mooing sound, and it steps up, swipes his blade...

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

...and comes awfully close to bringing Janira to the ground. Frustrated, it lower its horn and tries to gore the halfling, and again misses, only to follow up with a solid hit from a second axe swipe.

Janira goes down, and the minotaur's attention shifts to the advancing adventurers.

Rod saw red as the minotaur knocked Janira to the ground. Even if you were a big hulking monster, you never, EVER, hit a defenseless lady! Flail... well, flailing wildly at his side, Rod shouted at the beast as he took off. "Hey, you big ugly cow! How about fighting a REAL warrior!? When I'm done with you, I'm gonna spit roast you on an open fire and make a feast out of your ugly carcass!" he taunted, hoping to draw the beast's attention to him. He hoped the ploy would work, because he had the partial concepts of a semi-coherent plan forming in his head... and he needed the minotaur's attention to make it possibly work.

Without the benefit of magical powers or bloodlines or any of that fancy stuff, Rod would have to resort to fighting the minotaur the way he tried to face every encounter; smartly. He checked his belt for the tanglefoot bag... good, still there. Now, to make the minotaur madder than hell.

Taking two move actions to move 60' and get as close to the log over the river as possible.

The minotaur snorts, and looks at the taunting human fighter. In a flash, rods sees only the horns and the bloodshot eyes of the creatures, racing towards him. He doesn't stand a chance for dodging and is lifted on the horn, thrown violently on the ground.

Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 242d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 1) + 6 = 10

On the ground-throwing for description only, Rod is standing on his feet. 10 damage, though...
