Btw, since I assume Red Roc is now going to attempt to shred Mr. P, his current AC is 25 (including Haste and Cat's Grace, and not including the -4 to Dex for being grappled, since it is canceled out by the -2 to attacks that the Roc has for grappling).

Hammerhand finds it much easier to brace against the ground and move rather then when he was flying and is able to progress a bit further, but he's still struggling to figure out the whole "Attacking in wind" thing and misses.

Lucija's great beast is unable to fly, and is held back, unable to move while her other creatures fly forth at blazing speed through the air.

The Red Roc tries to peel poor Mr. P open, but can't quite get at the fleshy bits inside his armor, though it's beak crashes into him so hard he thinks it dented his chest.

Red Roc was up... right until Griff's last talon attack. :)

Bate and Griff pile on the great bird holding onto Mr. Proudefeets, slashing and tearing at the thing's great wings. It gives a cry of pain as Griff goes for the throat, the griffon finally pulling down the much bigger bird to the ground and ripping out it's throat. Just to clarify, did Vermin miss Verakas with a 31? Or did he miss for some other reason? Or do we not know?

Mr. P is doused head to toe in red Red Roc blood, as well as some of his own, but by the blessings of Chaldira it seems to be mainly that of the big bird. He quickly jumps back into the saddle on Griff, draws a wand from his wrist sheath, and activates it.

Actions: move action to mount the griffon (they are two size categories apart, so he can't fast mount); swift action to get the wand, standard action to activate Saddle Surge (4 rounds duration). And Griff takes a 5' step.

Of the two chronicle boons that I used last time, haste will expire just before my next turn; the other boon will have one round remaining.

Speaking of boons, I have another one that might be relevant here: "You may cross this boon of your chronicle sheet to treat wind effects as if they were one category weaker per Air Affinity boon you possess for one round per Air Affinity boon. This includes penalties on ranged attacks, whether the wind checks you or blows you away, and the penalty the wind imposes on Fly checks. Treat the effective starting wind strength of effects that make ranged attacks impossible but do not specify a strength, such as wind wall, as if they were windstorms." (Mr. P has only 1 Air Affinity boon, so it would only reduce the wind strength by 1 step, and only for 1 round). My question is: if I use this boon will it make the wind easier for everyone, or only for Mr. P? And if the latter, can I use it to make the wind easier for Griff, rather than Mr. P, since he's the one flying?

Other questions, is it possible to move up to Verakas just on the ground (since we are on the barge) rather than flying? And, if flying, if you make your Fly check is charging allowed?

"Madame, it seems that you bear some grudge against our friend, the Wizard Zoarth? Yet do you not know that he loved you dearly and wept when you died? Aye, it seems that when he was overcome with grief, perhaps his cats ate your birds, for is not that the way of such creatures? Yet," - here Mr. P gestures at Griff - "E'en so, can not the cat people and the bird people live together in peace, just as those two natures coexist peacefully in my friend Griff here? Truly, lay aside your grudges, and let me speak to you of the kind and forgiving ways of Chaldira, lest your rage condemn you to a restless sleep of undeath."

Plunder and Peril Ship 1 Plunder and Peril Ship 2

@Lucija, sadly, not good enough. Back to whence he came. @Mr. P, yup, just a plain old miss. She's that ridiculous! Your gonna have to pull out ALL the stops to beat her! As for your boon, I would say it only works for you, and as Griff is your mount it would work for both of you. Also, if your trying to talk her down, I'll need diplo checks since she's actively hostile.

Verkas growls in anger as she lifts her blade.

You LIE! I was THERE! He SUMMONED those cats! HE FED THEM MY SWEET INNOCENT BABIES! THOSE BIRDS WHERE MY CHILDREN! When I passed out from the shock, he LEFT ME FOR DEAD!

With that, she swings her mighty sword at Vermin!

Sword Swing: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24
damage: 4d6 + 20 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 3) + 20 = 31

The swings are devastating blows of power, inflicting massive damage on vermin! The giantess misses wither her final swing as howls in anger as she screams.

Those cats seeped into our lives from Hell itself, and he chose them over me. We had a life! But it didn’t mean anything to Zoarth. So now, I will destroy him!

No way to get Sparky up here. I hope the encounter designer increased the DC of the challenge enough for the environment. The combination of having to use lots of resources to get only some of the party up here, combined with the resource draining encounters along the way and the wind effects preventing some of us from attacking each round increases this by a lot. Perhaps Vermin should have used a round (that he did not really seem to have) to shift into a better combat form, but I doubt he would would have hit any better.

@GM, I would have made a Diplomacy check but it takes at least a minute and I don't have any actions to spare right now. I can give you one if you want: Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 but please disregard if you want me to use actions on it. At this point, I'm really hoping she's evil, or we are in trouble on so many levels...

Both of the chronicle boons that I used before have now expired. I think I won't use the Wind reduction one because I think I can just charge her running on the ground. Let me know if that's incorrect.

Mr. P swiftly declares his intention to rescue the city below from the evil she has unleashed. "Madame, I fear that your grief and your journey into undeath has addled your mind, and left you confused. Your desire for vengeance against Zoarth has unleashed a foul pestilence upon the city below and many innocents will die if you are not stopped. If you will cease this madness we will certainly get to the bottom of your claims about your birds and Zoarth's cats, but until then, by the blessings of Chaldira, I shall do everything in my power to stop you!"

Swift action to Smite Evil on her. Let me know if it doesn't stick because the rolls below are all calculated assuming that she is evil.

With that, Mr. P urges Griff forward into a charge. Staying on the ground, they ride right through Clandelve's square (Wheeling Charge allows this) directly towards Verakas, before wheeling off at a 90 degree angle away from her. (Wheeling Charge lets me make one turn up to 90 degrees. Ride By Attack prevents her from getting an AoO.)

Would you say that she is a "known slaver" (defined as: "owns at least five slaves, is maintaining a compulsion spell or effect to control a creature for at least one day, or is explicitly cited as trafficking slaves")? I can't remember all the details we learned about her interactions with the Giants earlier (such as whether we know that she had exercised mind control on the giant we defeated at Zoarth's castle). But I get a bonus to hit and damage from the Liberty's Edge faction card if she is.

+1 Adamantine lance, Smite, Charge, NOT using Power Attack: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (16) + 21 = 37 +1 more if she's a known slaver.

dmg, Smite, Spirited Charge, Saddle Surge: 3d6 + 54 ⇒ (5, 1, 6) + 54 = 66 Assuming she's evil, this bypasses all DR. If she's a known slaver, add +3 dmg. If she's undead or an evil outsider, add +30 dmg.

Plunder and Peril Ship 1 Plunder and Peril Ship 2

Thanks for being honest Bate, I goofed that, so you'll have to wait. Good eye Mr. P, and yay for a not dead Vermin!... Yet. And nope, not a slaver. The giants where, but she has no interest in slaves.

Mr. P's words fall on deaf ears, but paladins are not known for speaking with evildoers.

They are known for smiting them with the righteous vengeance of the gods.

Flying forward like bullet, Mr. P's lance slams into the giant, the tip piercing through the pale blue glow that tries to turn his weapon aside.

He then flies away as she tries to swipe at him, unable to react in time to his speedy charge.

Nice move! Congrats on not dying Vermin! Also, Clandelve, you're correct! However, that will provoke a AOO...

The Giantess hears Clandelv's cry and turns, bringing her sword around.

I don't know if the "natural 20" rule applies to combat maneuvers? They're treated as attack rolls in most other ways....

Determine Success
If your attack roll equals or exceeds the CMD of the target, your maneuver is a success and has the listed effect. Some maneuvers, such as bull rush, have varying levels of success depending on how much your attack roll exceeds the target’s CMD. Rolling a natural 20 while attempting a combat maneuver is always a success (except when attempting to escape from bonds), while rolling a natural 1 is always a failure.

The giantess let's out a "GUH!" as the distractions allow the Ankylosaur to get in a slam with it's tail, though it's not enough to stop her.

What is however, is the sudden appearance of 1 invisible not goblin appearing behind her. As she turns to strike at one of the dinosaurs, Bauble swings his black blade, crackling with energy!

The blow catches the giantess across the throat, the crackling energy coursing through the black blade of magic, combined with all the other magic flowing through the blade, causing some sort of mad reaction with the pale energy covering her. The resulting explosion would make Bauble's entire goblin clan proud.

Everyone is thrown back from the grand explosion that ripples out, causing the whole barge to shake. Bauble is seared and burned, and milky blue white goop lies everywhere from the pool, the giantess lying on the edge. The results of the explosion are horrific, and it is clear that the giantess will not rise again.

Above however, the portal still widens, and the pathfinders can see white grasping hands begin to claw at it's edges, as if SOMETHING was trying to force it's way through.

When the first person to recover from the explosion gets the chance to check the Giantess, they find a rather large problem...
