Fly spell would be enough, assuming your booking it, but just barely and may need an additional cast and may run out at a inopportune time once your up there. Just something to keep in mind. Not trying to force one way or another, just leaving up options.
Sir Mr. Proudefeets
|
@GM, what's your opinion of whether Mr. P (or Vermin) can use Handle Animal with Farkas, even if they are not the ones riding him?
Clandelve Hammerhand
|
What if we consolidate fly potions so that when the PC with the fly spell is getting low, he can use another? I also have one...is that just 2 for the party?
| GM_Starson |
You could absolutely use handle animal on him even without riding him. He just needs to be goaded into moving into a unusual area (Up!) AKA a push check on a friendly animal.
Sir Mr. Proudefeets
|
Handle Animal check on Farkas when-if appropriate: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24
Vermin*
|
And vermin will auto assist that roll.
Bauble
|
Well, Bauble could cast an extended Fly twice by using some Arcane Reservoir and a rod of extend, then the spell would last 20 minutes. If the spell is cast on someone with a high strength each spell could do double duty as long as the load stays under a medium load. I had thought the flight would take an hour or something, but if it is only 10 minutes we should be good. Anyone else have a rod of extend?
Vermin*
|
Yes, rod of Lesser Extend here. Its not high enough level to extend Air Walk.
| GM_Starson |
The cloud is about 4000 feet up, the fly spell can get up to about 3,000 feet before the fly spell will run out. Proper fly will again get you all the way up, you'll have to be careful not to run out without a back up.
Vermin*

Flying up with a fly spell would be 60'/round via double movement. That translates into 6000 feet in 10 minutes. Extended fly will last 20 minutes.

Unless encumbered, which Hammerhand is since he is wearing mithril plate which is still counted as medium armor. Then it is 40'/round. Of course he might get bonuses from something since I see his normal movement is 30 which is very unusual for a dwarf. He could take it off for the flight though.

So does everyone have a way to fly that will last to get us to the mass? As noted before, Griff can carry one passenger (besides Mr. P as his rider). Double moving he can move 80' a round, but you ascend at half speed, so that's 40' up per round, so it will take 25 rounds for them to reach the mass. That could be a light of lightning strikes. Might be worth using haste to get us there faster?
