Xakon attacks one of the nearby morlocks who was already injured and it falls dead to the ground.

Sugarsnap enters the room while calling in Truffles and casts a Flaming Sphere on top of the morlock next to Xakon. It successfully dodges out of the way.

Truffles then moves into melee with the two morlocks near Sugarsnap, but fails to gore his target.

Sivantanpisil backs up five feet and skewers the black haired morlock who collapses from its injuries. She then follows up with another hit on the other morlock, but does not cause enough injury to drop it.

The two remaining morlocks continue to press their attacks despite the odds, although neither hits their respective targets of Xakon and Truffles.

Truffles sticks his tusks into the morlock next to him and the creature dies.

Xakon stabs the remaining morlock twice with his rapier and the enemy falls unconscious at his feet.

Mudk uses Detect Evil on the room, but does not discover any evil on the morlocks. Either they were not evil or too weak to have a discernible taint of evil.

Checking the morlock corpses, you find only their crude clubs.

Examining the room, you see that the smallest pit is filled with stagnant water, while the adjacent pit contains some sort of charred, fleshy mass. The ceiling above this pit is coated with greasy black stains, suggesting it was used to cook or burn things. The largest pit is filled with miscellaneous refuse, although the bottom has rotted into a fetid pool of sludge that is probably at least a few feet deep.

Nothing of value is found outside of the pits. If you want to search the pits, let me know which ones.

After getting a response about the pit searches, we'll return to the S.O.P.

Since no one seems eager to search the pits, we'll move on.

After checking the next door for traps and/or sounds, Xakon and friends find nothing and so the halfling opens the door. Ten feet ahead, you see another door. Performing another check of the door and being satisfied when you find nothing, the group proceeds through it into another room.

In the center of this alcove stand the vandalized remains of what is barely recognizable as a statue of bird-headed being with serpents for legs. Long, bronze tubes line an alcove behind the statue. The hallway leading northeast is blocked with rubble, but you easily find another secret tunnel that leads to the north.

The northern passage ascends into a dark antechamber covered with plates of brass and porcelain. Its tiled walls have been bashed to splinters and smeared with filth. Most of the rubble has been pushed up along the north wall in small piles. To the west lie the shattered remains of a smaller side room, its walls broken to the foundation. Along the east wall, a wooden door hangs half open.

Standing near the passage is an angry morlock who appears on the verge of attacking!

As Sugar follows along, passing the smashed statue, I am guessing that the morlocks did this, they don't look like demon followers. don't demon worshipers eat babies? and they had some you ones that were not eaten. of course they may have been fattening them up, but all that fat is probably bad for you.

Sugar's dissertation on demon worshiping then trails off as she contemplates all that new found info.

Yet again, the only possession on the morlock is a club.

Searching the room, you discover another secret tunnel in the rubble to the north. Following it down, you move about 20 feet to the north before finding another hatch. Xakon finds no traps nor hears any sounds behind it.

Opening the hatch easily, you find the room above retains its original shape, though the walls are covered with crude pictographic graffiti depicting humanoids committing obscene and violent acts. Piles of rubble form several makeshift bunkers—a defensive barricade facing a single door set into north wall.

Waiting for you near the rubble is an angry morlock with a greatclub who appears on the verge of frenzy.

Everyone except Xakon is in an underground tunnel which is represented by two red lines on the map. To enter the room, you have to finish moving through the tunnel spaces first.

Xakon charges the angry morlock and lands a hit, but it seems to be too battle hardened to be caught flat-footed by a sneak attack.

Sivantanpisil follows Xakon inside and hits the enemy with her longspear.

Undeterred by his injuries, the morlock whistles and two more morlocks come leaping out from behind the rubble, one of which stops to swarm with its angry leader. Both of these enemies turn their clubs against Xakon, but neither can hit him. They both moved in a manner that avoided AoO's from Siv's reach weapon.

The raging morlock then turns his wrath on Xakon and attacks him three times, twice with his greatclub and once with a bite. The two club attacks miss, but he draws blood with his teeth. Xakon takes 8 damage from the bite attack with precision damage.

Xakon hits the raging morlock with a critical hit on his first strike, although the second attack and bite both miss.

Perhaps miraculously for him, the black haired morlock manages to tumble into a flank position without provoking an opportunity attack. He still misses Xakon with his club, however.

The other non-raging morlock also attacks Xakon and misses.

The raging morlock focuses his rage on Xakon as well with two greatclub attacks and a bite. None of those attacks hit the halfling either.

The trembling morlock children behind the rubble wall move to the east side perhaps in an attempt to avoid the long reach of Sivantanpisil's longspear. They are noncombatants out of the way, so not placing them on the map.
