The loud hissing has definitely gotten Sugar's attention. She mounts Truffles and urges him onward.
hissing is either snakes or lizards, and the big kind are bad either way. Lets move Truffles

![]() |

Mudk is unwilling to go any further until he sees the rest of the group catch up. He will delay, yelling back at those who haven't moved:"hurry up!! We need to move it!! "

![]() |

Jirah follows the group, but keeps her readied attack up.
Should I just keep my earlier roll or roll a new attack?

GM Harker |

Jirah, you can keep your readied action roll until it goes off or you declare another standard action.
Jirah and Frēodwēn move further along the first hallway, with the elf readied to fire her bow if something aggressive appears.
Mudk holds his position and yells back at the others to hurry up.
Sivantanpisil waits with Xakon in the center of the maze.
Jirah, Frēodwēn, and Sugarsnap can still hear the hissing from the eastern end of the first hallway, while the others cannot not from their current positions.

Can we move closer to the center of the maze?
Xakon continues to move away from the ominous sound.
-Posted with Wayfinder

GM Harker |

Sivantanpisil urges the others forward, while Mudk continues to wait.
Xakon moves on from the center into the north hallway, and discovers another set of spiral tunnels.
Everyone but Xakon can still go, I'll bot those who haven't posted actions by tomorrow afternoon EDT.

![]() |

Jirah simply stays close to Xakon, keeping her bow readied.

![]() |

Sugar urges Truffles onward away from the hissing noise. catching up to Mudk.
Don't you have to face some slimy death or something? you have any idea what we are facing? she asks of the mighty Paladin.

![]() |

"Facing slimy death is the preferred option but I will not enjoy such pleasures without my allies at my side. You shall not be left behind, never fear. Quickly catch up with Xakon and Siv and I will follow along as soon as I've retrieved Jirah and Fred and then we shall all enjoy the gruesome tortures of life together! As true companions should!"
Mudk continues to wait for the last two.

GM Harker |

Jirah, due to the spiral nature of the current hallways, you are quite far away from Xakon. There is a wall between you and him which may not be obvious unless you zoom in. Assuming you are still readying an action, I moved you 30 feet forward towards the center.
I'll go ahead and bot Frēodwēn since its likely he'd just be moving along with the others.
Everyone in the back moves forward, including Jirah who is still readying herself to fire her bow at any threats.
Xakon continues to move forward 40 feet. He now hears loud hissing coming from the passage to the north, while the others do not hear any hissing at all.
Initiative (Round 4)

Sugarsnap/Truffles <= Up
Mudk <= Up
Xakon
Frēodwēn <= Up
Jirah <= Up
?????
Siv, Sugar/Truffles, Mudk, Freod, and Jirah are up.

![]() |

Jirah, hearing nothing, lets her arrow loosen on her bowstring and hurries after Xakon.
Come on everyone, we don't want to split up!
Let go of readied action, double move toward Xakon. Can't edit the map currently, but I can see what you are talking about GM

![]() |

Xakon stops abruptly and changes direction.
I'm hearing more hissing. I am backing up and joining the rest of you.

![]() |

Frēodwēn moves with the party towards Xakon. "I don't quite understand what is happening..."

![]() |

"AHA! Here we all are. Now! Together we shall rush to our deaths! We already know that this back way is empty of any challenge or suffering, ONWARD FORWARD INTO THE PAIN!"
Mudk urges everyone near him to follow him and heads further.

![]() |

Sugar moves as quick as she can to catch up to Xakon riding Truffles to improve her distance she can travel.
Xakon you up there? your little Sugar is coming. she yells hoping he can hear her.

GM Harker |

While Xakon begins to reconsider his movement, the rest of the party moves in his direction.
The hissing in the north tunnel continues, but only Xakon and Sivantanpisil can hear it.

adamantine: 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
He yells to his companions, Something is coming our way!

GM Harker |

Xakon steps to the corner of north and eastern passage and looks around the corner to see a spectral snake slowly undulating down the passage. It's currently too far away to attack with melee weapons, however.
Meanwhile, Mudk moves forward towards Xakon's position.
Siv, Sugar/Truffles, Freod, Jirah.

![]() |

Jirah takes up a position next to Xakon, charges her bow with energy, and fires at the creature!
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

In that case, I'll just use the Run action to catch up

![]() |

I think I figured something out, but since it is based on my knowing that Xakon sees a snake, I don't think my character knows...
Frēodwēn murmurs a spell and quickly moves down the hall.

Sivantanpisil moves up 5 feet and readies herself to attack the snake when it comes into range.
Meanwhile, Sugarsnap rides Truffles up to the forward group.
The spectral snake merely advances 10 feet down the hall, filling in every space of the area as it moves.

GM Harker |

FYI, the spectral snake is incorporeal, so it's immune to crit and precision damage.
Sugarsnap questions the nature of your foe, while Mudk finally catches up with the main group.
Xakon attempts to tumble past the spectral snake filling up the entire hallway, but his try is repulsed. It does not attempt an attack of opportunity, however.
Siv, Freod, Jirah. Also, Sugarsnap/Truffles if they want to do anything else.

Jirah moves up, and fires an arrow, glowing with a soft blue from her arcane energy.
Any idea what this one is?

can he hear this snake now?

Siv begins to chant Desna's name while brandishing her holy symbol. Her eyes glaze over and she looks for any magical auras that may surround the snake.
Cast Detect Magic

GM Harker |

Jirah moves into the hall to see the snake and fire an arrow at it, but hits the side of the passage as she tries to compensate for Xakon's presence in front of her.
Frēodwēn moves forward and casts a spell on himself increasing his combat prowess. Yes, Freod can hear the snake now.
Sivantanpisil readies a Detect Magic spell once the snake is visible to her in the hallway.
The spectral snake lurches forward 10 feet with great force, pushing Xakon and Jirah back, injuring both. Moreover, the powerful push forces Jirah into Sivantanpisil who also moves back five feet and who then pushes Mudk. The paladin then falls back 5 feet into Truffles who is also forced back 5 feet. Xakon and Jirah take 9 damage from the spectral snake push back.
Unfortunately it's a magical trap, so it doesn't follow normal rules. No AoO from the push either. Everyone can see the snake now.
Sivantanpisil casts her Detect Magic spell to determine that the snake is more a magical effect than an actual creature. It's probably part of whatever trap was set off.
Push Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9

With a glance at the symbols on the ground, Frēodwēn grimaces. "There was a snake glyph heading into the center from the other side as well. We are pinned!"
He quickly raises his bow and looses a pair of arrows at the snake.

Hey no need to get all pushy. not liking the cramped situation, Sugar (riding Truffles) moves back to get away from the snake thing.
I am really starting to not like snakes.

Can someone find a way out of here or cast Dispel Magic on that snake?
