"Are you hurt? We have healers among us. It is too dangerous to be here all alone. You may accompany us or wait until we have completed our exploration of this level then exit out together. Here is some food and drink. It's not much, but we can fill our bellies with wine and mutton at an inn later."

"I'm fine for now, thank you." She replies, eating and drinking a little from the items provided, "I think I'd rather stay with you all, it's much safer in a group. You aren't a rescue party for me, are you?"

I'll give you all a little bit to interact with her further if you wish, then we'll return to the SOP.

Sugar was keeping a lookout for Xakon's safety but the grin on his face garners a bit of attention.

yeah, I am sure we can ALL enjoy some food and wine together. Sugar adds as she intersects herself between Xakon and the girl.

I'm Lady Sugarsnap and these are my friends, Freo, Mudk, Jirah, Siv, lastly Xakon, Oh and that over there is Truffles, he's may seem a little scary but he's really a lot of fun once ya get to know him. So What'st your name? If ya want to travel with us, that's cool, I'll make sure ya stay safe. Truffles will guard ya too.

"It is a relief to meet you all. As I told, uh, Frēodwēn is it? My name is Tiawask. I would appreciate any help you can give." She replies politely to Sugarsnap, exhibiting no undue attention to Xakon.

The woman then answers Frēodwēn's inquiries about Klarkosh, "Unfortunately, I didn't learn much about him before I was ambushed by green constructs and he imprisoned me. I can tell you that he is a human male who's turn parts of his body into gold metal. He also has a a number of those green constructs who serve him. You've must have either been very skillful or lucky to avoid him."

Jirah casts Detect Magic on the room while Tiawask speaks, and notices that the rescued woman has an illusion aura. When Jirah asks about this, Tiawask replies, "It is the magic of the serpentfolk. They use horrible visions to torment me. Thanks to you all, that's over now."

Evidently satisfied with Tiawask's answers, the group continues forward with the woman in the back. Turning south in the hallway, Xakon is the first to discover another degenerate serpentfolk patrolling the area. Upon seeing the halfling, the serpentfolk curses in Draconic and seems prepared to charge.

The areas on the map beyond the eastern serpentfolk are currently unknown to the party. I only revealed them now in case someone ends up moving past the serpentfolk or somehow otherwise peers down that direction.

I'm going to say that with the hard 90 degree corner that anyone behind Mudk cannot currently target the serpentfolk adjacent to Xakon. With that in mind, I'll assume Siv delays for the moment. Mudk can make his attack, but the enemy receives a cover bonus. This level has a lot of 5 foot halls, which can make combat a little frustrating.

Sugarsnap attempts to soothe Tiawask's fears then inquires what's going on further ahead. Frēodwēn and Sivantanpisil contemplate a ranged attack and spell respectively, but are stymied by the narrow halls.

Mudk attacks the serpentfolk twice around the corner, but neither attack lands.

Let's see what Xakon's going to do. If room is made for someone to move forward, I'll redirect back to everyone who hasn't acted. Otherwise, I'll just delay the rest unless you want to do something that doesn't require seeing your target.

Xakon opens up another salvo of attacks against the remaining serpentfolk and easily finishes it off.

Combat Over

A search of the enemies' bodies only reveals two masterwork heavy maces.

* * *

Progressing further down the hallway as it makes a 90 degree turn to the west, the passage opens up to reveal a large statue of a snake facing a wide corridor to the north that ends in a pair of golden doors covered in a twisting serpent pattern.

A quick search by Xakon reveals a round depression on the body of the serpent statue, just below the head. It has an odd pattern inside.

Knowledge (religion) DC 25 to identify pattern:

You believe this may be the symbol of Ydersius, god of the serpentfolk, but in reverse.

Xakon does not find any traps in the area, but with the majority of the group currently behind him, he has not yet received any assistance. That being said, he does notice that stepping closer than 10 feet to the golden doors causes some hissing noises to become audible. A closer step increases the volume of the hissing sounds. Moving back more than 10 feet causes the noises to stop.

If you want to move in to assist Xakon, please move your icon into your preferred position or let me know where to move you. If you want to move closer to the golden doors more than the 8 feet that Xakon has so far attempted, also let me know how close you get.

If you want to just bypass the area all together, the passage continues to the west and turns 90 degrees to the north that you have not yet explored.

Deciding to skip the hissing golden doors for now, Xakon leads the group to the northwest until he comes to a single, inaudible door. He checks the door for traps, but with the narrow hallways only gets the assistance of Sivantanpisil.

Finding no dangers, the male halfling slides the door open, unleashing a cloud of hot steam. The misty room contains a steaming pool edged with glistening stones. Lounging about in the water are three serpentfolk who all immediately stand up.

The creatures then move straight for the door, with the green scaled serpentfolk attempting a bite that is stopped by Xakon's armor. The other two serpentfolk whisper to themselves and suddenly become blurry.

Jirah <= Up
Tiawask

Everyone is up. Due to another 5 foot wide tunnel bottleneck, I'll just delay those in the back after 24 hours unless circumstances change. You may want to consider shifting around to allow ranged access to the enemies.

Xakon raged and full attacks. He will step forward if the adjacent foe falls.

I will stay on front as melee with have good HP and AC.

Sivvy begins casting a spell.

Casting Summon Monster III. If possible, I'll take a 5' step to swap with Mudk to be able to attack with reach next round.

Xakon's first rapier strike hits, while the other attacks miss.

Sivantanpisil begins a long casting spell.

If Mudk is willing to swap or otherwise moves, then I'll move you into that space, Siv.

Sugar and Truffles stay put. she continues to convince their new friend that Xakon is not available, and that she just isn't his type...in a polite way of course.

Sugar's top notch diplomacy skillz: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

EDIT: I may have made her an enemy now....

Mudk adjusts places with Sivantanpisil and Frēodwēn, allowing them reach and ranged access to the serpentfolk.

Sugarsnap begins an attempt to convince Tiawask to lay off Xakon. With an amused smirk, Tiawask cuts Sugar off at the very beginning, "Oh, you don't need to worry about me. I have no interest in him."

The green serpentfolk continues its attack on Xakon with its dagger and bite. Although the bite comes close to hitting, neither attack lands.

The red serpentfolk hisses a spell to itself, then points to Sivantanpisil and says, "You're going to waste your spell on these serperntfolk, stop casting."

Sivantanpisil needs to make a DC 16 Will save or she stops casting before the spell finishes. This is an enchantment (compulsion) mind-affecting effect.

The pale serpentfolk also casts something, resulting in four additional images dancing around it, confusing its real position.

was Frēodwēn unable to get any additional actions last round? I thought swapping would just be a 5' step

Go ahead and take a standard action on top of your current round actions, Frēodwēn.

I'm hoping for an Inspire Courage to help cut them down.
