Deal. I apologize if my urgency came across as a threat; there is real danger to the whole island, is all.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Nevryn still sounds impatient. Luckily the deal is struck.
Self-important jerk!

The grandmaster rings a bell and a servant comes in. He ushers you out of the bathing chamber, down a corridor and into another room. The room has five quite unique chests is in.
The first is an iron case with a laughing devils head for a lock.
The second is a red box inset with a trio of golden faces, one stern, one angry and the third overcome with hatred.
The third is covered with carvings of ivy
The fourty is a seal stoen chest with no visible lock or hinges
The last has strange stylized writing wrapping around the whole of the rectangular chest. Ten small pores run along the box's lid.
While you can try them in any order, to keep things sane, I'm going to suggest you look at them one at a time.

Let's try to knock them out in the order presented to avoid confusion.
Perception iron case: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Hmmm....
Nevryn casts detect magic.

The devil’s head can be turned in both directions, like a combination lock, but without numbers to act as a guide.
Disable device time! Please note if you are trained in it.

Well, guys, I've never broken a combination. I've got nimble fingers and I'm pretty observant. Still, maybe somebody else would be better?
Untrained, +3. If Nevryn can assist other, she'll be a lot more confident.

I'll not be much of help with the boxes, I can roll perception or knowledge, but I know how to open them so I will just keep quiet.

Bahh, DD is trained only, so unless anyone has a clever way of getting access to it, we may have to move on to box two. Feel free to roll a perception check for that one.

            Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21, but if we have time Pau would be happy to take 20 on the roll for a 26.

GM Aerondor

Pau thinks the increasingly angry faces are a clue.
You can also include a sense motive.

            Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 19
I think I might have a clue!
...but I'll tell you in a minute

You suspect that the chest reacts to strong emotions. If you could somehow convince it you were very angry, it might open.
Barbarian comes in handy here! Other options are up to you, but an appropriate perform check, intimidate or even a very strong will save might do the trick.

Helluddar

Helluddar picks up the box and gives it a determined look, "You shall open for me. Nothing, not even a legion of demons will stop me from opening you. It shall come to pass!"
Will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

GM Aerondor

The box pops open. Within a a collection of ancient stone miniatures of a Viking army.
Success
The third stone chest is covered with a relief of carved ivy.
Given you have time you could take ten to make this perception check...
Hidden within the ivy carvings are some words...
"Though different now sounds my name, the spelling
still remains the same. Once prior leap of might, now becomes bird of white."

Helluddar

"I don't understand this leaping business, but I do know of birds... hmm... white ones... pigeons, seagulls, cockatoo's... and doves... OH, he leapt... he dove..."
Helluddar picks up the box and says, "Dove"

Pau

"Hey, I think I know this! The only white bird I've ever seen is a dove. And earlier today, I dove off the cliff, or rather fell off, I suppose. But dove and dove sound different and are spelled alike! Hey box, does that work for you?". Pau stepped back, hoping he was on the right track.

GM Aerondor

As you say "dove" the third box pops open.
Success
The fourth "chest" is plain and stone. For all one could tell it is just a block of stone, why the grandmaster thinks it is a chest is anyone's guess.

GM Aerondor

It is indeed magical. If you make a spellcraft check, you may even get a feel for what sort...

GM Aerondor

Oopse, that was suppose to be knowledge(arcana). Have another try. Anyone else with detect magic can try as well.

Interesting. This "box" has an aura of illusory magic... try to see it for what it is, friends.
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
If nobody else succeeds, Nevryn resorts to...
Perform (oratory, untrained): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Pau

Pau closes his eyes and moves to the chest, touching it to see if there is anything there or if this were a trick of Torch.

GM Aerondor

            Many try, but few succeed
Neru manages to see through the illusion. He realises that there is a lid that even when opened appears shut. Within he discovers vast amounts of spell components.
Success
Turning to the last chest the group sees:
A strange stylized writing wraps around the whole of this rectangular chest. Stranger still are the ten small pores that run along the box’s lid.
Taking ten on perception..
A quick check discovers a hidden panel on one side of the box, but no means to open it.
(trained) Linguistics, bardic knowledge or a musical perform skill check required.

Hmm... I sing. The mad-face one opened for anger. Maybe a song...

Well, I hoped that would work. This thing is a little like an ocarina; maybe i could play it!
Perform (Wind): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

            The sound is horrible.
Perform is not trained only, so the rest of you can try as well if you can stand the sound.

Pau

Pau knows almost nothing about musical instruments, so he tries to follow the lead of the others and se if he can make any sounds.
