Celfwyn the Blind |
Celfwyn snakes his way through the space cleared by the elemental to see what the hell's going on. As he moves, he draws an extract and drinks it at his new destination.
True Strike
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly also moves through the cleared spaces to the mouth to get a look outside for his elemental.
The elemental retaliates, with gusto!

"Puffy?" Captain Farabellum looks up to the voice booming overhead. Then he shakes his head and returns to the maps in front of him.
Nat 20!
Wembly Templeton |
I was surprised, but Puffy seems to be making up for all the low rolls Wembly had in the army sequence while being beaten silly by the dragons. LOL
Druthane |
Okay, so no spot check, but still pockets of Cloud. That does change things for me.
Tired of this, Druthane takes a deep breath and advances towards the melee. (not wanting to be between the enemy and the opening, he prefers to stay inside.)
FORT: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
ATTACK: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Confirm: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
DM Star Reroll: 1d20 + 9 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 9 + 3 = 27 BOOM
DMG: 2d8 + 10 + 2d6 ⇒ (8, 1) + 10 + (1, 4) = 24
....Now I just hope I understood correctly, as it's my turn to be mentally fried.
Druthane |
Oops, yeah now that I'm well rested, it would have been an arrow, not a sword swing. My apologies. I don't have precise shot, so if a 23 hits, I'm still good, but the damage is different (and I can't deliver Chill Touch)
Corrected damage: Nonmagic: 3d8 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4, 3) + 6 = 14
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Horatio pulls a potion from his pack between bouts of retching while Druthane fires an arrow that misses.
Devon Callister |
Devon just moves next to Celfwyn and keeps reloading his gun.
"So, uuh, where'd ya see this hiding coward bastard?" the halfling asks the elf, "a real wuss if ya ask me. Can't face Horatio and his lance, heh!"
(Grit 3/4+1, Clip 3/6, Stranger's Fortune 2/4)
Druthane |
(It was the confirmation for the crit that was only a 23. The initial attack was a natural 20. I wasn't sure if something like continual concealment, wind, etc effect caused the hit to miss. No worries either way, just trying to get what I can :-)
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
I think that is what happened, 19 was a threat with a sword, but ranged attack needed. Bow is +7-4 for shooting into combat though (22) which makes it a miss.
Brae-Hagen attacks the elemental and looses a spell on the halfling. A gush of water hit the gunslinger and tries to push him over the edge!
Devon, did you take a standard action?
spear: 1d20 + 13 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 13 - 1 - 2 = 23, 1d6 + 6 + 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + (3) - 1 = 10
spear: 1d20 + 8 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 8 - 1 - 2 = 12, 1d6 + 6 + 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 + (4) - 1 = 10
bite: 1d20 + 6 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 6 - 1 - 2 = 16, 1d6 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 1 = 2
hydraulic push: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Wembly feels the connection to his summoned creature disappear stretch, but it remains! Again look at Puffy go! :) This means puffy also gets an attack of opportunity when general casts.

Druthane |
Weird. Really weird, apparently my eyes deceive me (or I'm playing in too many PbPs and I started mixing them together.) My apologies!
Devon Callister |
Reloading one barrel is a standard action, because I'm a dork and forgot to retrain Rapid Reloading to pepperbox (instead of pistol).
Also do I need to roll something? Maybe then if Puffy doesn't succeed in interfering the casting.
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly was about to summon Puffy's cousin, but is amazed the elemental fights on...
Slam aoo attack : 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
for Dmg : 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

for Dmg : 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Puffy misses and the spell is completed. The gaseous hero misses again.
It is a CM against Devon, so you don't need to roll anything. Please note: your CMD looks to be about 180 too high ;).
Party is up!
Horatio Flaxseed |
Finally free of the sickness that forced Horatio to vomit up his breakfast, second breakfast, and mid-day snack out the side of the yawning mouth of the cliff, he roars a mighty challenge!
"No more running and hiding from the Pathfinder elite, foul general! Now you shall feel *our* wrath visited upon you wherever you may flee to!"
Pushing Ferox to fly: 1d20 + 13 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 4 + 2 = 21 (DC 20)
(1d20 + 13 Handle Animal + 4 Bonded Mount + 2 Outrider)
With that, Horatio smears the Oil of Fly on Ferox's hide, locking his knees into the saddle as the wolf takes flight, bringing the pair out into the air, above the general, so that they can line up for a charge!
Flying Ferox: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 2 = 17 (DC 15)
(1d20 + 4 Dex + 2 Half-CL from Potion/Oil of Fly)
With a fly speed of 60, Ferox can move at 45° up and out, so we should be ~30 feet above the general's elevation, and 30 feet from him horizontally. I tried to place Horatio on the map at the approximate spot for that.
EDIT: Apparently I don't need to push Ferox to fly, but if I delete that roll, the second roll will appear with the result of the first - so just disregard that part, sorry!

Celfwyn looks for his target and lobs a bomb at it. He excludes Poofy to not end the elemental prematurely.

spear: 1d20 + 13 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 13 - 1 - 2 = 18, 1d6 + 6 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 6 + (4) + 1 = 14
spear: 1d20 + 8 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 8 - 1 - 2 = 9, 1d6 + 6 + 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + (2) - 1 = 9
bite: 1d20 + 6 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 6 - 1 - 2 = 21, 1d6 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 1 = 2

Wemby's connection to his summoned creature finally :) disappears.

Druthane hits this time.
1d100 ⇒ 91
Devon Callister |
Pepperbox's range increment is 20 ft. So the maximum range is that time 10 (like with bows), meaning a maximum range of 200 ft.
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
"SOON, YOU LOUSY COWARD, YOU'LL DIE!" Devon's voice booms out across the battlefield. Many Army of the Open Road soldiers let out a collective chuckle too engaged by Worldwounds hoard for something more serious.
"Not if I get you first mortal!" screams the general. Unaided by the magic of his bunker it only reaches the ears of the Pathfinders and seems much less impressive for it. He makes good on his threat though, and cuts the elemental to bits.
Druthane takes the shot he has been waiting for, loosing an arrow that sinks deep into the demon-spawn's chest.
Grunting the general casts a spell and a wave of water gushes around the halfing's body, carrying him over the edge of the cliff face to smash in the armies 200 feet below.
"DEVON?!" shouts Druthane.
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
"DEVON?!" booms Druthane's voice. The alarm in his tone causes many down below to look up.
"God's Mercy" Farabellus gasps and nods to an aid who didn't need the cue and quickly casts a spell. The aid is not the only one to notice the halfling's plight. Several others in the mixed armies of Pathfinders and their allies also cast spells.
It is not clear whose spell grips the falling gunslinger, but his meteoric and frantic fall slows and he is able to right himself.
R8 begins and the party is up! Make it dramatic!
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly will call forth another small air elemental to assault the flying general.
"Get him, Poofy!"

Haro はろ |
Haro starts punching at a shadow on the wall, unsure if it hits or not.
Celfwyn the Blind |
Unable to stop the gunslinger's plummet, Celfwyn turns to the demon and shouts "Damnable bastard, I'll send you plummeting down after him!" and sends another bomb at the flying demon, muttering something about learning to make cold bombs. (Excluding elemental on a hit)
This is the point I realize that Celfwyn is gonna be one of those swearing characters when he's angry... And of course it's when Farabellus and all of the Society can hear him.

I doubt any bullet hit, but in case 18 does hit:
Damage (magic, bludgeoning): 1d6 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 4 = 11
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
A flurry of bullets shoot up from the falling halfling. Bombs, arrows and air also fly at the half-demon but none seem to connect.
"Confound you air thing!"
The general makes an attack against the elemental. Then moves to better line up an attack next round.
If bomb misses should he have taken splash damage? His move provokes AoO from elemental.
spear: 1d20 + 13 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 13 - 1 = 29, splortch: 1d6 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 6 - 1 = 10 plus sizzle: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Wembly, feeling like he cannot contribute much to the battle beyond the elemental, looks to support others close by.
"Hey Haro, do you have a ranged weapon or anything to shoot or swing? I am lousy at it myself. But i may be able to help buff yours...at least until Poofy goes down."
He offers to buff a weapon with magic weapon.
Horatio Flaxseed |
With most of my characters I try to make a real effort not to hog any spotlights - even though Horatio is a gloryhound, let me know if you want me to back off at all!
Finally able to think and act freely, Horatio nudges Ferox with a grin as he bellows at the top of his lungs. "Now taste the wrath of the Pathfinders, evil doer! CHARGE!"
Ferox Fly: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9 (DC 10)
Ferox, apparently, is unable to gain any traction in the air, and thus founders and is unable to charge.
*sigh* I'll wait until next round, apparently
Devon Callister |
@Horatio: Did you remember to include the fly bonus granted by Fly spell's good maneuverability? It's an additional +4 bonus.
Devon continues his downfall, eventually realizing he's too far off to hit the demon. A neverending stream of cursing can be heard from the halfling.
"YOU @#¤%& INCEST-RIDDEN #¤/$# PUSS #!¤%& @$¤ SACK OF ¤€£@! DEGENERATE @£$!¤"
I'm guessing Devon will effectively be out of this fight altogether. *sigh* Does Devon get to join the massive fight down below then, or am I out of the game? If latter, PM me once we're done.
Horatio Flaxseed |
...apparently, in my tiredness, I had forgotten about that! Adding +4 takes that from a 9 to a 13, which beats the DC to charge! Thank you! PS, I love Devon's shouting too. Depending on the answer from the GM, maybe Ferox can fly down to grab Devon and/or Horatio can toss him a potion of fly if he doesn't carry one on him?
