"Any volunteers for heading in first, preferably someone with some experience in such matters? I'll be close at hand if we encounter any hostile resistance to our trespassing."
Myrd Sharpclaw
|
"No thank you Audyn, I prefer to do my magics from the second line. Getting smashed with a club tends to ruin my concentration"
George Chadwick Parker
|
Parker nods at Myrd. "I agree with my wizardly comrade. I ain't made for frontline schenanigans. I'd be my greatest pleasure to let you take all the glory there is in chargin' first.", he grins at Audyn and Iron Feathers.

No sign of the creatures lair. Feel free to move youselves on the map. Put yourselves where you want to be, but not past those first statues. To speed things up...
Columns line the walls of this small room, each decorated with a high-relief carving of a monkey in a different pose.
Some of the monkey sculptures sit serenely in meditation or reach out with their hands as if to deliver blessings to the viewer, while others adopt more naturalistic poses. The floor is littered with decaying plant matter and mud, and the stench of rotting muck pervades the area. An open archway leads south out into the jungle, while a second leads north deeper into the temple.
You hear the sound of rapidly approaching foot steps.
George Chadwick Parker

"Well ain't that a kick in the head. Don' 'spose someone's here to show us some Segang hospitality?", Parker says, raising his arm in the air, as a shimmering field surrounds him. Casting Mage Armor, 2 spells remaining, 1 in his bonded item.

As a matter of interest, what illumination do you have?
Three figures appear, running into view and looking over their shoulders.
When they see you they come to a halt.
"Out of our way" calls out a woman who appears to be the leader.
Feel free to include a sense motive check
Myrd Sharpclaw

Myrd has an ioun torch floating around his head
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
"Why?"
GM Aerondor

"Because I told you to, fool. If you really want to explore these ruins, then be my guest. I choose to be elsewhere."
Myrd Sharpclaw

"You make a lot of noise for someone who is running away in fear. Tell us what you know and leave everything you found in here with us and we will let you go"

No illumination explicitly from me.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Iron Feathers waits to see their reaction to his fellow tengu's words before chiming in... more bluntly.

The woman looks at her two fellows, and counts the number of pathfinders, glances over his shoulder and then dumps a couple of pouches on the ground.
"Good luck, they'll just slow you down. We're leaving now."
She and the two men start to make their way past the group.
GM Aerondor

The pouches contain a coral symbol, half a dozen jeweled tiles and what appears to be a golden apple.
[dice=know(religion) DC 12]The coral trinket is a holy symbol to Ragdya[/spoiler]
"I'd leave if I were you" calls back the woman. "There is a terrible evil luring at the heart of the temple."
George Chadwick Parker
|
"Well, I'll be honest with ya, darlin'.", says Parker, a sad grin on his face. "The moment I see a temple that ain't infested with ancient evils, I gon run the other way. 'Least with them ones, ya know whatcha expectin'."
As soon as they're gone, he continues to the group. "But yeah. I ain't the keenest into pokin' my nose in ancient curses and somesuch. An' there's probably traps. And skeletons. Just tellin' ya what to expect, based on first hand experience.", says Parker to the group. "We got someone to deal with traps, or do I gotta pull Ol' Betsy out to stomp on 'em?"

Just going to advance things a bit
Passing through the hall of monkey statues you come to a broken hall
A mosaic of a monkey-faced figure decorates the floor of this room, though the tiles that would form its eyes are missing. The north end of the room is filled with rubble blocking an arched passageway. To the west, vines and foliage intrude into the temple through an open-air balcony, while a similar balcony to the east remains relatively clear of plant life. An open archway leads south.
GM Aerondor
|
While there are very small gaps in the rubble, it would only allow a very small creature to creep through it. Maybe a skilled and well greased Halfling could make it with a lot of effort. Maybe. Anything bigger has no chance.
George Chadwick Parker
|
Parker smirks at Audyn. "Well, unless you're a hella lot more agile than you look, don't see how you're gettin' in through there." Giving a glance at the balcony to the west, he removes his hat and scrathes himself under it. "Y'all reckon we can climb with those vines an' see what's up there? Unless you wanna check the other balcony first."
GM Aerondor
|
An examination of the west and east exists show that the western one lacks any real balcony. The eastern one is however passable.
(a description of the eastern one)
A narrow path extends between the exterior wall of the temple and the thick web of vines and tree branches that cover the temple’s walls. At either end of the path, small open-air balconies lead back into the temple.
Velinov
|
"May I see that bag? I'm guessing some of those tiles complete this mosaic here. It seems crude to leave this artwork in such a state."
Velinov will attempt to replace the tiles in the monkey mosaic.
@Audyn - Sorry, no rope here.
GM Aerondor
|
Velinov manages to relocate a number of missing tiles to the floor. He feels satisfied in a job well done, but there have obviously been many others stolen over the years.

There is a narrow way around the side of the temple.

Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Did you want us to move our characters individually as well? Just in case, I moved Velinov forward.
GM Aerondor

Go ahead and move your characters to where they are. If you can see through the entrance, I might post more :-)
Iron Feathers

Survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
"This path is unusually clear...", Iron Feathers clutching horsechopper as he approaches, peering around the corner to the next chamber.
George Chadwick Parker
|
Parker shuffles uncomfortably, staring at Iron Feathers. "Ya think somethin's been keepin' it clear? Reckon it was them folk we mugged?", he asks, snowflakes forming around his arm as he peeks over the tengu's shoulder. He begins whispering. "If there's somethin' there, lemme fire at it first. I'd hate ta hit y'all in the fray.", he says as he follows behind Iron Feathers, eyes peeled.

Moved people up to keep the action rolling
A 20-foot-tall, high-relief sculpture of a mountain dominates the north end of this large chamber. A statue of a figure now missing its head sits in the lotus position at the mountain’s peak, while smaller statues of monkey-faced pilgrims rest on ledges farther down the mountain. Shattered pieces of yet more monkey statues litter the floor.
The southern half of the room is filled with rubble, obstructing an arched passageway to the south. In the center of the room, a small enclosed shrine made of dark brown stone faces south toward the rubble. A hallway to the west leads to a balcony overrun by foliage, while a hallway to the east leads to an open balcony.
stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
Okay, perception checks from everyone. Anyone hitting DC20 spots a couple of small beasties at the top of the statue and may take a single action (either standard or move)
George Chadwick Parker

Parker sighs as he stares into the room. Can't succeed even on a 20. "Well, someone done messed up this place. Bit of a shame, really. I wish I'd have seen it in its greater days."

"Watch it! Incoming fire!"
Assuming Velinov doesn't see more enemies as he moves forward and that aiming upwards is still in the 15' cone effect(and not obviously undead), Velinov will move and cast Color Spray.
Yells Velinov as he dashes towards the enemy, wisps of colored particles leaving a slight trail as he digs through his spell pouch. Tossing the contents into the air, "Iris Rebus!", a burst of scintillating pigment blots out the mountain statue.
