Kalendir |
Reflex: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
Kalendir ducks and covers as much of his body as he can but it isn't enough as the flames wash over him.
With shaking hands he raises his medallion.
Channel Pos Energy: 6d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 2, 5, 3) = 24
"Let's not do that again. Who puts a switch to an incinerator in the flaming room?"
Morrin the Stout |
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (19) + 21 = 40 Evasion
Startled, Morrin ducks, twists, and somehow dodges the flames until they go out.
"What in the..... I agree! Who would do this?!"
Tortuga |
Reflex: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18 +2 if a spell effect
Tortuga takes 12 (Improved Evasion) which is healed by the channel.

reflex: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31 all good here. And after the channel Wynn should be fully healed.
Alie Saechel |
Reflex 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27
Alie dodges most of the fire, thankfully. ”Are we ready to go explore the next room? Although I hate to see what is waiting for us there...”
GM Aerondor |
You are all currently squeezed into the room with Romulus. The only open door is in the wall next to where the lever was pulled.
Fletch has sudden flashbacks to fighting on the brim of a volcano. Spurts of lava fly through the air and the darkness is illuminated by the slow moving but hotly glowing flow.

Romulus Reflex Save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 Oh sure, the dog leaps clear.
"What is wrong with people? Who would design that? And why?"
Kalendir |
With only a single open door Kalendir goes through it. "What the hell was that riddle about fire again?'
GM Aerondor |
Fletch gets lightly burned.
The room beyond looks very much like the one you entered, but without the door in the rounded wall. There are once again two leavers, one next to the door Kalendir has entered next to, and one next to the other door.
Status -
Fletch ; 1 WIS damage; Hunters Eye; 1 damage;

Alie Saechel |
After getting a good look at the new room, Alie decides to stay in the one that was just trapped, making sure nothing funny happens with the levers when one in the next room is pulled.
Kalendir |
Kalendir looks through the door to the north.
GM Aerondor |
The door to the north is currently closed. There is an inviting looking lever on the wall next to it though...
Morrin the Stout |
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31 +1 for traps
Morrin looks about to see if he can find the device to what set off the trap, while taking his masterwork thieves tools from his handy haversack.
"Hopefully, I can find as to what is going on here, because that burned a few of you."
Had unexpected company over, sorry about the delay!
GM Aerondor |
Currently the map has you all in the first room, but I'm guessing Morrin and Kalendir have actually moved into the second room.
Status -
Fletch ; 1 WIS damage; Hunters Eye; 1 damage;
(Romulus)
Alie 5 points false life; true seeing; resist fire(30)
Wynn - see invisible;
Morrin ; 2 burn
Kalendir - resist electricity 30;
Tortuga -
Kalendir |
Nope, in same room. I was just checking out what was in next room.
Tortuga |
Tortuga will follow the others when we decide to move into the next room.
Morrin the Stout |
Morrin steps into the next room while keeping an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. "Let me check ahead. Maybe there is a quick way out of this."
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18 +1 for traps
GM Aerondor |
Again Morrin sees no signs of obvious traps in the second room.
Site being down and weekends has not helped, but puzzles can go very slow in PBP. If you want to agree to certain things such as always sticking together or allways being in different rooms, or whatever, and then have one character take the lead, this may go faster. But there is potential for significant damage here, so I'm not keen to skip it.
Alie Saechel |
Since Morrin is the trap guy, I say we let him take the lead in this section of the adventure. I say all of us follow him and let him take on the traps. And I’ve got Resist Energy Fire on me, lol. I’ve got a couple more second level slots if anyone else needs it cast on them.
Wynnreyell Moonsilver |
If you wouldn't mind, I could use it. And I agree to follow our trap guy.
Morrin the Stout |
If we had a bit more luxury with time, I would have been taking 20 in each room, but because of the rush that we are in, I've been rolling perception. Other than that, lets do this! Once everyone is good, and prepped, I'll pull a lever once again, unless someone sees something that I don't catch.
Kalendir |
"Save your energy Alie." Kalendir reaches out. "Grasp hands in prayer." Kalendir utters a small prayer to Erastil to bolster their resistance to fire.
Communal Resist Energy (Fire 30).
GM Aerondor |
You pulling one of the three levers in the first room again (and if so which one) or one of the two in the second room (and again, if so, which one)
Morrin the Stout |
"While this room doesn't seemed trapped, the riddle suggests staying in the room with fire from what I gather. Let us try that room again, and see where it leads us."
Morrin returns to the room with everyone else.
I just remembered the other room's poem, haha.
Morrin the Stout |
Once everybody is ready, Morrin will pull the same lever that was pulled earlier to see what happens.
GM Aerondor |
Once again the doors slam shut. The room judders, and it feels as if the whole room spins. Once again fire envelopes the team.
fire: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 2, 2, 5) = 18
But the magical protections of the team are firm against it.
Small error on my part. The first door you came in via does not have a never next to it.
The door opens again, and the lever returns to the top position.
Kalendir |
Again?
Morrin the Stout |
If everyone is okay with it, of course!
GM Aerondor |
You pull the lever and once again the doors shut, fire blasts you all and the room shudders and spins a bit. fire: 6d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 4, 2, 6) = 23
Once again your magical protections hold it at bay.
That is three times now
The door next to the lever opens again and the room there still looks empty.
Morrin the Stout |
Again, again!
"A few more times, and we may be out of this devilish trap. Hang on!"
GM Aerondor |
Again the lever is pulled, for the forth time. Again the door slams shut and fire envelopes the room as it shudders and moves.
fire: 6d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3, 3, 1, 1) = 14
Again finally the door next to the lever opens and the room beyond appears unchanged.
Morrin the Stout |
"Well, this is annoying! Is everyone still okay, aside from the heat going on in here?"
Morrin scruffles Romulus' fur before pulling the lever once more.
Morrin the Stout |
"It's so we can get further in, so I am assuming this may be some sort of safety device to help keep the Ten safe, which means we have to go through it."
GM Aerondor |
Again the lever is pulled, for the fifth time. Again the door slams shut and fire envelopes the room as it shudders and moves.
fire: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 3, 4, 6) = 17
Again finally the door next to the lever opens and the room beyond appears unchanged.
Kalendir |
"The riddle mentions five seasons of fire.." Kalendir thinks. "That was five time correct? Let's look at all of the rooms. Maybe it will open up a bit more. Though we should hurry. These protective wards will only last so long."
GM Aerondor |
So from the room you are in there are three doors, the one with the lever you pulled, which leads into the same room as before. There is a closed door with another lever, and the closed door that you came through initially.
Tortuga |
Maybe this one lever is one season no matter how many times you pull it. Maybe the other seasons are other levers.
Morrin the Stout |
[/b]"That may be the case. Let us go further in then, since staying here will only cook us in the long run."[/b]
GM Aerondor |
So... three doors, two closed, one open, and two levers seem to be your only options at this stage. Or the passageway with the newly minted stone wall in front of it back a room or two....
Kalendir |
Kalendir moves through the northern door to investigate this chamber further. "I am going to go take a look. Don't go pulling anything while I am gone." He says nervously.
Kalendir |
Kalendir tries the next door. "Is this just one big loop?"
Kalendir |
"I am going to pull the lever in here to open the door!" Kalendir calls over before pulling the lever to hopefully open the door.
