Pass on See Invisibility then. Have not added in miss chances as not sure if there is any or hat they are. Will leave to GM discretion.

Kalendir fills the shadow, for that is what it was, with arrows. It dies quickly.
And with the other figure held, you can easily subdue him. Alie sees he is a half orc, wearing a chair shirt and with shortsword and kukri as his weapons.
We are out of rounds now. For the sake of ease put your icons on the map in the middle of the donut, but remember for the moment it is not clear who is who to anyone other than Alie.
A quick reminder of the room:
The darkness thins only slightly, ebbing into a deep, blackish-purple twilight. The surrounding space appears without clear definition or form. Distance is difficult to judge, though there appears to be some sort of a perimeter marked by darker, shadowed arches.
A quick count shows 19 arches. Alie can also make out a basin on a plinth in the room near one of the arches.

![]() |

Alie will move down to the basin and pick up a stone. If she sees or senses anything change, she will pick up one for each of her team and hand those out to the group.

![]() |

Kalendir places a calming hand on his chest. His hand tremors with the pain the shadow caused him.

"Are they gone?" Kalendir's voice wavers as he listens for more sounds of approaching enemies. He flinches in the darkness with each teammate that comes near.
Keeping his bow in hand he follows Alie to the basin.

![]() |

Within the basin are half a dozen stones. They glimmer with magic to Alie's enchanted sight.
Kalendir restores some of his own strength.
Status:
Wynn see invisible; gravity bow
Morrin - telekinetic invisibility;
Tortuga : Shield ;l
Fletch : Hunter's eye
(Romulus)
Kalendir ; sun metal ; 5 STR damage
Alie 12 damage ; true seeing

![]() |

Powering down, Morrin drops his invisibility and wanders towards the other shadows. "I hope you all are who I think you are. So what's up with all this shadowy stuff? How do we get back to normal?"

![]() |

Within the bowl is a pale translucent gas. The bottom of the basic is carved with the Glyph of the Open Road. Sitting within the basin are half a dozen tiny crystals crudely chiseled into the vague likeness of humanoid figures.
These crystal figurines are minor artifact ioun stones called eraminho stones. Similar in function to a trap the soul or soul bind spell, they are relics of ancient Azlant crafted to house and protect souls for long periods of time, and when activated, the enclosed soul can impart knowledge and insight to the wearer. Traditionally, they are crafted to provide individuals with a contingency for completing a task or an obligation after death, provided they have a mortal willing to act on their behalf.

Know arcana 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
Alie bought for a brief second that she recalled something about the tiny stones, but it was just off the tip of her tongue. She reached her hand into the bowl, closed her eyes, and grabbed one of the stones at random. After grabbing it, she opened her eyes, looked around and wondered if the features of the rooms changed.

![]() |

Prod..
checking, you realise that Eliza is missing, however you do recall
her last words.
"In order to enter, each of us needs an envoy. Within the chamber stands a basin containing a small number of special ioun stones called eraminho. These stones act as vessels for the souls of the Society’s most trusted protectors, some even former members of the Decemvirate. By activating these stones, we can connect with the spirits to gain access to the inner chambers."

![]() |

Tortuga reaches into the bowl and grabs a stone.
Eh, so what do we do with them?

![]() |

Tort, as he owns one, knows that generally Ioun stones are tossed into the air to activate them

![]() |

Walking behind the dwarf, Morrin takes a stone before tossing it into the air around him. "So, what in the hells happened? Where is the Venture Captain?"

![]() |

The small figurine floats in the air and starts to circle Morrin's head.
You can see the room clearly now, including making out your companions. To the north, near the bowl, you can see one of the archways is much larger than the others. The wall at the back of it is also apparently not real. The eastern and westernmost archways are supernaturally dark. The others all have faint outlines of glowing runes. As you watch two of them flicker and swap positions.

![]() |

Kalendir grabs a stone as well. "Here goes." He tosses the stone into the air.

![]() |

Wynn takes one as well, and tosses it in the air. Trying to get it to activate.

![]() |

Seeing that no one else immediately dropped dead or started attacking, Tortuga does the same with his stone.

![]() |

"Umm, question. Where did Eliza go, if she didn't come with us? I don't see here here. Also, who's hurt?"

![]() |

One by one the pathfinders take the figures, toss them into the air and watch as they spin around. As each in turn does that the veil around the room falls away.

Tortuga looks back at the figure that was attacking them.

”Which gate, everyone?”

![]() |

The figure that was attacking you appeared to be a half orc. Armed with shortsword and Kukri. He won't be waking up for a long time.

![]() |

Fletch sends an ioun stone spinning around his head. He does the same for Romulus.
"Can anyone read those runes?" he asks, pointing to the sigils on the portals.

![]() |

![]() |

"I'm no good with languages, as a general rule," Alie says, as she pulls out a scroll of Tongues. She casts the spell, hoping to figure out the message. "I think this is a personal arcane mark, not any language I can identify. This sigil is marking something..."

![]() |

Linguistics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Taking a look at the runes that Alie had pointed out, Morrin shakes his head in frustration.
"Sorry, but I don't understand as to what these say. Anyone else have a clue of sorts?"

![]() |

No Linguistics here.
"Maybe there is something behind this illusionary wall." Kalendir moves past the wall to investigate, not sure what he is getting himself into.

![]() |

Kalendir vanishes into the wall..
In the center of this small circular chamber rises a pillar of pale white ether. Within the column twist the ghostly forms of thousands of silently screaming angels.

![]() |

Take 10 on linguistics for 20
Correct you are Alie, now only if we can identify who those marks belong to.

![]() |

”Should we go after Kal? I’m not sure I expected him to ganish like that,” the little sorcerer worries, not sure what to do.

![]() |

Kalendir back out of the hidden wall. "Not sure what to make of all of this" He calls back. "There is a column of ghostly screaming angels..." Kalendir closes his eyes and attempts to sense evil.
Detect Evil.

![]() |

"I'll follow him to make sure nothing happens. See you on the other side!"
Morrin then follows the paladin through the archway.

![]() |

You all recall some of the last words of Eliza.
"Once inside, we should seek out the faction rooms first, and use them to make contact with whatever allies of the Society we each may have outside the Ten themselves. These rooms are the only neutral rooms within the upper tower, so even if Adril seizes command of Skyreach, the faction rooms will remain somewhat of a blind-spot.[/b"
This scenario is an [b]exception to the general case of faction missions not being available any more for early scenarios.
Morrin vanishes through the illusion.

![]() |

Tortuga eventually decides to join the others in venturing through the wall.

![]() |

You all head slowly into the next room.
In the center of this small circular chamber rises a pillar of pale white ether. Within the column twist the ghostly forms of thousands of silently screaming angels.
[ooc]Put yourselves on the map in the room marked "3"

![]() |

While there are many illusionary magics there, there are also abjurations and others too.

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Would someone please put me in the square just left of Kal? Thanks.
Morrin beat you to it. I put you just to the right of Fletch. Feel free to reposition.

![]() |

Aside from the pillar there are passages leading to the left and the right.
To the left you can see the passage turns right, but there is a door before the turn.
To the right the passage enters what looks like a ballroom, with a thick violet carpet.

![]() |

Kalendir looks to the ballroom. "These don't look to be the Faction Rooms. We need to find those to make contact and we need to hurry."

![]() |

Tortuga examines the passage to their right.
Perception: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (20) + 22 = 42

![]() |

He notices nothing unusual. Apart from what appears to be a garishly decorated ballroom at the end of the passage.

![]() |

Alie keeps using Detect Magic as she advances behind the boys. She understands it is probably useless in this realm, but maybe her True Seeing will reveal anything strange while they look around n

![]() |

You head into the ball room.
Alie can tell that all of the room’s furnishing are magically fabricated or pure illusion. Its nauseatingly gaudy decor includes thick, violet carpeting and glass tables set upon white marble bases carved to resemble pyramids. The room is walled with crushed gold-leaf panels set in ebon-lacquered walnut frames and lit by six tremendous iron and crystal chandeliers.

![]() |

”Well, whomever designed this room certainly has elaborate tastes, that’s for sure. It’s all either magically constructed or it’s a powerful illusion. Either way, I’m not touching it,” Alie describes what she sees as she walks into the room.

![]() |

Seems like a waste if you ask me. Magic can do some unusual things, but most of this could be replicated by the right people with time and tools.

![]() |

There is one door out of there, although it may not be too obvious on the map, otherwise the only way is back past the screaming angles

![]() |

"Well, this place looks pretty spruced up for a party. Who knows what may actually be in here," Morrin speaks as he follows the small woman into the room.
