With a screech of anger the medusa steps out of the hedge maze and directs a ray of magical fire at the monk and archer.

The team watches in horror as Fletch rapidly petrifies. Morrin buffets her with powerful waves of force, but that doesn't seem to bother her too much. This is one tough lady. Wynn sends a single arrow her, but it deflects from a magical shield around her.

Tortuga's mighty leap misses her, but that doesn't stop him then knocking her to the ground and stunning her. He then stomps on her and hits her again, and again, and again.

She stops moving.

It is only then that the group notice that Romulus too has turned to stone.

"Well, there was this monkey that attacked us after some warriors animated from being statues. During the commotion, some thing started cast some sort of lightning magic that hit a few of us, but the reason as to why we are back is because a pretty lady turned Fletch to stone, and we need a way to fix that."

You have some options...

Scroll of stone to flesh for one is normally 1650gp.
Scroll of break enchantment (CL9) is 1125 each, or 2PP

If you don't want to risk a scroll, the VC knows a nearby bard who is apparently so funny he turn rock back to flesh (aka knows the Stoneface masterpiece). It was a glorious battle! Don't worry about me, the wounds are mostly self-inflicted. I'm sure my colleagues that can use my wands can patch me right up. But Fletch and his critter are going to need some help that is beyond my wands.

Assuming we have 10 minutes or so to heal up, can someone use my wands and recharge my ring?

Unfortunately break enchantment doesn't work on petrification any longer or else I'd have a wand for that.

The wand is only caster level 10, not 12. So if the DC is 27, then none of those would work unless Alie has some way to use her caster level on wands instead of the wand's caster level.

A heavily bearded dwarf with a tattered flag in one hand and a cigar in the other moves nimbly onto the lawn at the back of the lodge.

"Stoned eh? I once had a town guard as me 'How Hi are you?'. Of course I had to correct him with 'No officer, it's 'Hi, how are you?'"

He follows you into the maze. "So a medusa eh? Do you know what type of cheese she likes?"

He waits for a moment or too. "I heard it was Gorgon-zola."

Eventually you get up to the Fletch and Romulus. He starts to tell a an old and humorous tale about a woman who refused to smile at anything, no matter how funny. Through a series of increasingly unlikely events involving a cart of horse manure, a king, and a flying carpet, her legendary frown broke at last.

As he finishes, Romulus and Fletch's faces flicker as their stone lips try to laugh. Their stone shells crack as they return to flesh.

Fort DC 15 saves required by both to survive the process. Feel free to assume resistance has been cast if you don't have resistance bonuses from cloaks etc

The stone around Fletch's mouth cracks and a strangled cough becomes a laugh as his face and chest soften into flesh and bone. Beside him, the enormous wolf's tail begins to move and its stone jaws widen in an open-faced lupine grin. Moments later, Fletch is laughing with no reason why.

"Hoo," he says, rubbing tears and dirt from his eyes, "Something happened. Do I want to know what it was?" He looks down at himself. "Looks pretty much the same as before. Did we win?"

He pats himself all over, ensuring himself he hasn't got a tail or extra head or anything, and hugs Romulus's huge shaggy neck before remembering how hurt the two of them are.

"Did we lose anyone?" he asks, his laughter fading.

They were introduced in Ultimate Magic, that particular one is Stoneface. You either use a feat or a spell slot to get an alternate special ability that runs off your perform score and uses up bardic music. You can read more about them here

Tortuga is still on 7hp, the rest of you are looking good. I'll advance the plot a little, and we can retcon the healing of your dwarven damage dealer. Actually you are all pretty hefty damage dealers, just lacking in healing.

The team continues through the maze. You look with wonder at some of the areas to the sides.

Age has conspired against this brittle structure, which must once have been a small chapel. The ceiling collapsed long ago, and huge gashes in the walls suggest that the rest of the place might topple to the ground any minute now. A bulky stone statue was at the center of the building is difficult to make out from the causeway, but appears to be a giant serpent of some sort.

So damaged are the walls of this roofless structure that the building’s original purpose is impossible to determine. Amid the rubble within stood five statues of primitive human men, Mwangi warriors by the looks of them. Each wore a simple grass skirt and bone fetish necklaces, and each also bears a considerable length of chain.

The massive walls of this immense ruin must once have formed the facade of an impressive palace. An enormous humanoid statue, stooped on all fours and still two dozen feet tall, loomed in the shadows within.

A narrow set of thin stairs leads some 20 feet up to the surface of a large raised platform just off the main causeway. The white marble structure bears significantly less damage than most of the other buildings in the courtyard. Dozens of humanoid statues crowd the open space around the foot of the stairs.

Eventually, the Red Raven’s trail leads through the winding, leafy corridors of the Maze of the Open Road until it comes to a solid oaken door mounted on what otherwise appears to be a dead end.

Looking through his list it looks as if he has a wand of CLW (31 charges so I will go ahead and roll. He can correct as necessary. Ugh I should have bought another wand of CLW while we were back there lol.
