GM Paladin |
OK, so Molos gets Protection from Chaos, and both Xantanax and Korandil receive magic weapon (+1) on their main weapon. Xukong gets Cat's grace, bringing his Dex to a whopping 12.
You quickly descend to the basement, Nigel following for part of the way to finish casting his spells on you before retreating to the main floor. The door to the storage facility under the museum seems to be unlocked, but doesn't open when pushed -- it appears to be barred or blocked from the other side.
This will be done in rounds -- we need to determine how long it takes you to get in there. A strength check will be needed to break through the door.
Xantanax |
Xantanax uses his Strength to break through the door. He could use a crowbar if allowed which would add +2 to the roll.
Strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
That's without the crowbar.
GM Paladin |
Xantanax strains at the door and it creaks in its frame, but he is unable to open it. (Others are welcome to try as well.)
Molos Voren |
Molos shakes his head. As before, he wasn’t about to wrench his shoulder for such a mundane task. ”What is it about this place and stuck doors?
Vlazis 'The Beloved' Chibuzo |
Aid: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Vlazis does his best to give Xantanax more leverage.
Roderick Xim |
Roderick considers how best to help open the door as there is likely not much room for him to add his shoulder.
Good show. A push or two should work, but cooperation and synchronicity will be needed. All together now!
Vlazis 'The Beloved' Chibuzo |
If 26 isn't enough (with Xan's crowbar included) we may want to consider new strategies...
GM Paladin |
After Xantanax's blow shakes the door on its hinges, weakening it, Korandil jams the crowbar into a crack that was just opened, and pushes hard, forcing the door open. You can now all look into the room.
A nauseating yellow light emanates from a glass sphere levitating ten feet above a distant stairway, which leads up to a large copper door etched with geometric patterns and sigils. Dense yellow smoke billows from the beacon’s aura, flowing down the stairs like gaseous water. The sour light casts eerie shadows from the giant taxidermy exhibits and massive stone structures that fill the chamber, making even the disorganized wooden storage crates seem sinister.
Halfway between the door and the gate, a dark-skinned human woman lies on the floor, apparently unconscious or dead. A thin layer of the yellow smoke is beginning to approach her on the floor. Between her and the beacon stands a strange being -- humanoid in shape, but with bulbous eyes, horn-like growths sticking out of its skin, and a twisted, misshapen body.
You may now enter the room. The small crates are 5 feet high, and the large ones are 10 feet high. The weird wavy table-looking things are actually models of the Irespan of Magnimar, and these, along with the huge-sized taxidermied animals and magical beasts are 15 feet high. As foes are now visible, we'll go into initative order.

Vlazis moves forward, careful not to outstrip the more martial members of his party, calling them on to battle!
Using Inspiring Command on Xantanax and Xukong to give them +2 insight bonus on attack rolls, AC, combat maneuver defense, and skill checks for 1 round - this stacks with my earlier bless

I've moved 30 feet; my standard action hinges on what I get out of these (and others') checks.
GM Paladin |
I'll assume Molos moves into the room because otherwise he'd not have anything to make knowledge checks about.
The following happens before Xukong and Xantanax move up, so Korandil is the furthest ahead.
The distorted man moves forward and crouches behind a small crate, pointing a wand above towards Korandil, and sends a flurry of magical missiles into the serpentine champion. 9 damage to Korandil, unless you have Shield or some other effect that would block Magic Missile. By the way, I can't see your HP in your profile. How much do you have?
Korandil, make a DC 13 Will save. On failure, you are Confused.

Desini
Roderick

Vlazis continues forward, still calling out to Xantanax and Xukong to strengthen their efforts.
Using Inspiring Command on Xantanax and Xukong to give them +2 insight bonus on attack rolls, AC, combat maneuver defense, and skill checks for 1 round.
Bull's Strength is still up on Xantanax, and Bless is still up on the party
GM Paladin |
That is successful, Korandil. You are not affected, and you are aware that a spell or effect has been attempted on you.
Roderick Xim |
Roderick will advance closely behind the leaders while mixing a shock bomb.
”There May be more foes than are immediately apparent! “
Perception : 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
He points to the mammoth as he double moves into the room.
Molos Voren |
Molos expends a point from his arcane reservoir, which combined with his potent magic exploit makes his magic missile spell more powerful. He directs the three missiles at the man.
Potent magic with arcane reservoir point increases caster level bytwo.
Magic missile damage 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4, 1) + 3 = 11
Desini |
Desini moves up behind the party and provides them with some extra speed for the encounter.
Haste on everyone (except herself)!
GM Paladin |
Molos watches with frustration at the magic missiles impact i to a shimmering shield and vanish, doing nothing.
Those who make the above perception check may make a knowledge (nature) check to identify the creature.
GM Paladin |
Xukong still has a standard action to perform. Korandil still has a full round of actions.
GM Paladin |
Roderick Xim |
Roderick will share his knowledge
”Watch their bite is toxic and they are rumored to have strange powers on their weapons and possibly spells. Being from the void they resist cold completely. “
Korandil |

lay hands: 1d6 ⇒ 6
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
GM Paladin |
Korandil also sees the creature lurking in the shadows cast by the taxidermied mammoth. Since multiple characters have seen it and pointed it out, I'll reveal it on the map.
I'll bot Xukong since he has't posted another action. Xukong will continue a double move forward.
A previously unseen Grioth behind a dinosaur in the north of the room flies out, landing on a tall section of the Irespan model and focusing its glowing eyes on Xantanax. Xantanax, please make a DC 13 will save. On failure, you are confused and 1d100 ⇒ 62 deal 1d8+your strength modifier to yourself with an item in hand.
The one from behind the mammoth swoops out and down, charging Korandil in the air. Its eagerness to attack makes it ignore the polearm in the nagaji's hands, and the suddenness causes Korandil's attack to go wide. The translucent knife jabs into Korandil's armor, the paladin's increased speed from haste just barely letting him avoid it. Korandil gets an AoO, which I rolled for him, and it missed. The grioth's attack was an 18, which I believe doesn't hit because of haste. If I'm mistaken and the AC in your status line already has Haste factored in, then it hits for 4 piercing damage and 4 nonlethal psychic damage.
The twisted humanoid peeks over the crate again and focuses on Korandil as well, and the nagaji feels his internal organs wrench and twist at the creature's mental command. Korandil needs to make a Will saving throw, DC 19. Whether he succeeds or fails, he is wracked with intense psychic pain and suffers a -4 penalty on all attack rolls, skill checks, and ability checks. On success this lasts for 1 round, on failure it lasts 4 rounds.

Roderick Xim |
Roderick will (assuming he is out of 15’ reach of the thing above him) walk forward 20’ then turn.
” I dare say that is quite enough of that.“
He hurls a shock bomb up at the (red) batty creature
Bomb, range, haste pb: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 9 + 1 + 1 = 12

Xantanax |
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Xantanax pivots and moves up the Irespan (assuming it is an arch) and strikes the Red Grioth after Roderick's bomb goes off. He engages it with his greatsword.
Greatsword w/Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 2 + 1 = 142d6 + 12 ⇒ (1, 4) + 12 = 17
If it is still up, Xantanax attacks it again!
Greatsword w/Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 2 + 1 = 242d6 + 12 ⇒ (4, 1) + 12 = 17
GM Paladin |
You could climb up the Irespan, but you'd need a climb check. The creature is taking cover on top of it. Since your speed is increased by the Haste, you could get up to where you can hit it with a single move action of accelerated climb, DC 15, or two move actions of regular climb, DC 10. Give me a climb check and if it is successful we can apply the first attack. You wouldn't get a second attack regardless since the extra attack from haste only works if you full attack.
The bomb strikes the creature on top of the Irespan model and hurts it a great deal. Molos just barely misses it, the acid hitting the plaster instead.
Xukong, disregard the parenthetical after your name above. I copied the initiative order from my previous post and forgot to remove it.
Korandil |

Korandil uses his hastened movemnt to get Aberration and hits with enchanted bardiche "Dont Run Coward you fall over my weapon"
Desini |
Desini makes her way further into the room, sending off three magical projectiles from her hand towards the green grioth.
Magic Missile Damage v. Green: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2, 3) + 3 = 10
Xantanax |
Xantanax will attempt that climb check.
Climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
I need to add +2 and +1 to that ATK roll for the insight bonus and the enchanted weapon bonus. Plus +1 to the damage for the enchanted weapon bonus. So many bonuses! Love it!
GM Paladin |
Korandil, you seem to have just typed '20' instead of '1d20' in your dice tag. Please reroll that. Also, in order to get to the location your icon was in, you'd need to make an acrobatics or climb check to get over the 5 ft tall crate, or go the long way around. I can't find your speed in your profile, so it's probably 50 unless you have the lame curse? Please specify your details in that regard.
Xantanax climbs up the Irespan model, finds the creature clinging to it and shuddering from pain from the lightning bomb, and ends its misery swiftly. The bat-like head falls from the height and splatters strange-colored vital fluids on the ground and nearby pathfinders.
Vlazis 'The Beloved' Chibuzo |
The situation seems to be relatively in hand, so Vlazis continues to direct his comrades rather than use any of Dispater's more obvious blessings.
Shifting the Insight bonuses to Korandil and Xukong
