Ollo Hammer-song |
GM, I apologize for my disappearance. It has, once again, been one hell of a week. Thank you for botting me.
Ollo cries out in surprise as the thing beats on him from behind, before falling into a deep and dreamless void.
GM Upaynao |
Ok, I need Ysmero and Iddo to roll a percentile, Ysmero to roll a will save and Alexis to roll another Will save after her babbling.
Alexis "The Odd" Trismegistis |
"Whimsy-mimsy whompash! On rebble comp! ON REBBLE COMP! Varood trandiddle..."
Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Alexis blinks.
"...No. No, that isn't right."
GM Upaynao |
Ysmero: Punching self in the face!: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Ysmero punches himself in the face as the visions become more intense, while Iddo believes himself to be speaking Ancient Osiriani begging his tormentors not to bind him.
Alright, so what do the rest of you want to do? Ollo is taking a nap, Iddo and Ysmero are still confused. On the plus side this should all sort itself out with time. But I would like your input as a table on how you'd like for me to proceed with what is assuredly a very annoying problem so we can move on to a more entertaining portion of the scenario.
Oh and Iddo, can you give me another will save? Or bribe dicebot into rolling a 10?
Alexis "The Odd" Trismegistis |
Alexis is jerked out of her introspection by the sound of Ysemero shattering his own jaw.
"I...I say, that isn't some sort of ascetic rite of yours, is it, Master Ysemero? No, no I have an inkling not...."
She draws a wand consisting of a slender reed tipped with an ovoid ruby, and waits for Ysemero's crazed thrashing to bring his jaw down to her reach.
wand of cure light wounds on Ysemero: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
wand of cure light wounds on Ysemero: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Ysmero |
Action/Will: 1d100 ⇒ 841d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Ysmero tries to attack Grax once more but it's half hearted as his slow mind begins to finally come around.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
"Where is the creature?" He questions, looking toward the rest.
GM Upaynao |
With the creature dead, focusing on your surroundings is once more possible. Amidst the flowers to the south, a path leading towards some sort of turbulence is clear.
Ollo Hammer-song |
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Ollo wakes suddenly to peer upwards at the crow peering down at him. He starts to yawn, then abruptly looks around and jumps to his feet. "Wha tha... Huh?!?" his embarrassment quickly turns to wonder as his companions are also recovering from beating themselves and what not. he turns a raised eyebrow to the bird. "Do I even want to know??"
Javon |
Javon glides down to one of the flowers. He skillfully takes one of the stems in his beak and snaps it off. He flies back to Grax and drops it in the half-orc's hands. "Gerald, please put that somewhere safe. Amenopheus ought to see such a thing. I bet he would be interested. These orchids may have interesting properties."
GM Upaynao |
As you approach the entrance to the depression, the roar of swirling winds becomes overwhelming; the ground drops away at the entrance, leaving a sheer 30-foot drop. Debris floats through the air, moving in a never-ending dance conducted by extremely localized winds.
Chunks of rock, several of human size or larger, hang in midair, openly defying any laws of gravity. A large, sealed treasure chest floats near the center of the debris. Halfway up the northern wall of the depression lies an opening that leads to a tunnel beyond.
Place yourselves near the entrance to the open sandy area! I would also like to remind everyone of this handy-dandy document that will explain how to move through this rather annoying piece of scenery! I mean, the locals like it but what do they know of convenience.
Ysmero |
Without thinking, Ysmero steps into the sandy area, eyes on the chest in the center. As he pushed and pulled by the wind he attempts to control his fall but is unable.
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
GM Upaynao |
As Ysmero attempts to let the alternate gravity take hold of him, your guardian Iyasset soars on by. "Come now, you can do it foretold ones!" shouts the air elemental as he races on by you into the vortex of tumbling rocks, making a couple loops above the chest meaningfully. "You must retrieve the chest in order to proceed beyond, but enjoy yourself upon this voyage. In this chamber, we are all of air!" he adds with a grin before zooming in through the passage on the other side.
Ysmero Direction?: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Suddenly Ysmero feels his feet lift from the ground! He is flying! In a fashion. It seems like he is up 60 feet from the ground he was standing in!
Ysmero
Ollo
Grax & Javon
Alexis
Iddo
Khair
Grax, Son of Dray |
Grax looks at Javon and then shrugs. He leaps forward into the chamber and grits his teeth and he tries to fall towards the chest.
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Alexis "The Odd" Trismegistis |
Alexis eagerly accepts this test of mind over matter...
Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
...only take it FAR too personally when Javon shouts "you don't know how to fly."
Ollo Hammer-song |
Ollo shakes his head in disbelief when confronted with the spectacle of his companions flinging themselves off the ledge and trying to fly. Who've ever heard o flyin' dwarves?!" he thinks.. right before he too attempts to reach the chest in the middle.
Will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
GM, I am going to post a second set of will saves here just in case this moves on before I get up tomorrow!
Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Iddo Blackstone |
"...yeah, I don't have much experience on this world, but I can assure you this is not usual."
Iddo allows the wind to sweep him off his feet and he lazily glides towards Khair.
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
GM Upaynao |
Javon doesn't need to make a Will save as he can fly!
Alexis Direction?: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Ollo manages to get off the ground towards the chest! But as he approaches closer and closer he cannot find it in himself to concentrate and overshoots the chest!
Meanwhile, Alexis finds herself level with Ysmero, 60 feet above ground.
As all this is happening, Grax, Khair and Iddo manage to make their way towards the chest! But will they stop in time?
To stop in the middle of your move above a certain square you must make another Will save or keep on moving.
Ysmero - 60 feet above ground
Ollo
Grax & Javon - One more DC 12 Will to stop atop the chest + Javon can fly wherever he pleases without making a Will save.
Alexis - 60 feet above ground
Iddo - One more DC 12 Will to stop atop the chest
Khair - One more DC 12 Will to stop atop the chest
GM Upaynao |
Javon is the only one who manages to stay atop the chest as his fellow pathfinders either pass on by or aim for the sky. But then, the chest itself begins to drift off!
1d6 ⇒ 1
It lowers down five feet before the Pathfinder's incredulous eyes as their own lack of control lands them in painful situations.
Ysmeros' Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Alexis' Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Khair's Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Ollo's Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Grax and Iddo, take one point of damage.
Most of the Pathfinders make it out OK with only scraped from the suspended rocks, save for Ollo who manages to collide face-first with a spinning boulder.
Ysmero - 60 feet above ground
Ollo
Grax & Javon
Alexis - 60 feet above ground
Iddo
Khair
Ollo Hammer-song |
"Oooffff!!!" Ollo exhales as the chest crashes into him. "Lets get this bloody thing to the ground where we can open it!!" he cries out!
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
GM Upaynao |
Ollo, I think you misread what you collided with
Alexis "The Odd" Trismegistis |
Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
"Of course. Falling toward the ground is nature...but hitting it is a matter of aim."
GM Upaynao |
Ollo's collision with the boulder makes him see chests where there are none, and cause him to slam his head against a smaller rock.
Alexis meanwhile manages to take control of the situation and begins to fly towards the chest! Will save DC 12 to stop atop it!
Ysmero - 60 feet above ground
Ollo
Grax & Javon
Alexis - On top of the chest, will she stop???
Iddo
Khair
Grax, Son of Dray |
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Grax grunts as a small piece of rock hits him. He manages to control his descent some and redirects himself towards the chest.
GM Upaynao |
Grax arrives atop the chest, but can he slow himself down?
DC 12 Will save to avoid zipping past it.
Iddo Blackstone |
After nearly squishing his nose against a floating rock, Iddo wills the gravity back in the direction of the chest. He slowly falls towards it, then manages to grab on to it at he quietly exclaims a victorious whoop.
Will #1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21, Will #2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Ysmero |
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Ysmero finally gains control and flies toward the chest, trying to land on top of it if he can.
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
GM Upaynao |
Oddo and Alexis manage to avoid hitting large boulders, earning themselves a few scrapes in passing Each of you take 1 point of damage. Grax meanwhile...
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
...hits a boulder face on. Grax, that's five damage for you.
As their comrade's misfortunes unfold, Iddo and Ysmero manage to get to the chest and grab it. All that is left is to exit this damnable vortex!
Ysmero - 20 feet above ground - Haz Chest? (you guys figure it out)
Ollo - 20 feet above ground.
Grax - 20 feet above ground
Javon - Atop the chest, despairing at how noone can fly
Alexis - Ground level
Iddo - 20 feet above ground - Haz Chest? (you guys figure it out)
Khair - Two actions
Ysmero |
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Ysmero doesn't even consider Iddo as he grabs onto the chest and maintains his control of the winds to launch himself back towards the entrance of the area, eager to get out before the winds take him any other direction.
Am willing to give up the chest, just figured I'd take it since I'm posting first.
Ollo Hammer-song |
Shaking the cobwebs and stars out of his head, Ollo sees that his compatriots have the chest and are making their way to the exit. Grumbling to himself about the asinine antics of these damnable elementals, he tries to head that way himself.
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Grax, Son of Dray |
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Grax shifts his goals, trying to make it to the exit. However, it's clear that all other things being equal, Javon's instructions do not help.
GM Upaynao |
Unless you are walking back the way you came, you won't be able to exit as the other exit is 20 feet above ground.
Ysmero soars, carrying the chest with Javon atop it, to the opposing exit where Iyasset stands, a warm smile upon his face. "I knew you would reveal your innate master over the air sooner or later!" he exclaims, choosing to ignore the others as they successively crash-land in the mouth of the grotto.
Ollo, Iddo you both take 1 point of damage
Ollo and Iddo manage to sour on in at the same time, and to avoid crashing into each other end up scraping themselves against the walls.
Damage Khair: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Damage Grax: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Khair and Grax land soon thereafter, their faces black, blue and bloodied by a rogue rock along the way in. Upon summary inspection the chest appears to be locked by a serviceable padlock. Disable Device DC 20 to open, or your brute force method of choice.
Ysmero |
Ysmero looks at the locked chest and, with a shrug, begins pummeling it with his fists.
Unarmed Strike (Flurry of Blows): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 131d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
