"Everything around here wants something to eat. I should have bought more bread." She smiles politely in the creature's direction while asking the group, "I have trail rations do you think it would want those?"

![]() |

What check do i need for it? I have Arc, Nature, Planes and Religion. Wanna roll for weaknesses and... Well what it is
Knowing full well that they won't have anything the beast could eat, that it would call satisfactory. Culvine sprang forward toward the beast and aimed a stab into its face. 'There is no reasoning with beasts like these.'
Ranseur: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 132d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 3) + 3 = 10
He remained quiet, but hisnpupose was clear. The only thing Culvine had for this creature to eat was a blade. Probably not his best move as his allies weren't aware he'd made this plan. But it would have just attacked them anyway.

GM Iff |

Indeed, it's Dungeoneering. There's a spoiler in my previous post to identify the creature, if anyone can make the check. Also, I'll give you all some time to respond to Culvine's intended action.

"Culvine, Wait! I don't believe this creature wants to cause us harm!." Laurallei yells, as she dgs through her backpack for some rations.
"Togg, we don't have much to eat, but perhaps you would like this..." She offers up some rations.

![]() |

"No...Don't let's see if we can feed it first. It didn't attack just roared. Shera tries to get the Inquisitor to not prepemtivly attack. "It may have information we could use.
I'd like to try to talk to it first and maybe feed it. My reasoning is this. It talked first and didn't attack right away so maybe it can be convinced let us by. If the group wishes to fight, I'll go along with the decision with no hard feelings.

![]() |

If Iff allows it.
Culvine stops a half distance before lowering his weapon. Maybe he was being too hasty. Gold point. But how better to lul someone?" He looked at the beast and then back to his team. "Please, go ahead. Just know I don't trust this."
He stands his ground in front of his allies in an attempt to show that they are not to be trifled with. Likely failing but readies himself to attack if things turn for the worst and the creature attacks.

GM Iff |

Sure, this sounds plausible.
The creature ducks in a defensive position at the sight of the charging man, but she doesn't strike yet. "Rations? Is good food? Give Togg, good taste."
Please make a Diplomacy check if you interact with Togg, and let me know if you give her anything else except the trail rations. I'll use the highest roll and interpret the others as 'aid another'.

Yes, wait. These creatures are intelligent and may become friendly in exchange for fair treatment and food, ood. Please excuse the smell, ell.
Go ahead and read the spoiler. Yagi quietly shares the information.
Yagi addresses the otyugh.
Yes, Togg, rations is good taste, aste. He offers a trail ration to her.

She pulls three rations from her pack. "Yes rations are good food. Special food. Saved for the most awesome people."
She throws them in the direction of the creature.

Nooo I guess we should have gone with plan A.

That was Epic. Not in a good way, mind you...
I'm counting on a GM bonus of +5 per ration offered. :-/

GM Iff |

The Otyugh approaches for a few steps, hobbling awkwardly on three legs, two of them in the sewer and one on the bank. It eagerly gobbles up the offered rations, then regards the group of Pathfinders with the beady eyes on the sides of her head. "This not taste good. Dry! Togg want food with gooder taste. You have gooder food... Togg want eat bird!" With that, Inquisitor Culvine seems to have been proven right: The creature launches forward, tentacles ready to strike. It slips on the slick stones, giving the Pathfinder the opportunity to strike first.
Yagi Mi, your earlier Knowledge Dungeoneering result gives you two useful pieces of information concerning the Otyugh. What do you want to know?

Culvine takes his opportunity as the beast begins to rampage. Now it time to give the beast a stab. He moves in range with his Ranseur and aims a stab and thursts his spear forward.
Ransuer: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 42d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2) + 3 = 7
With a dramatic miss, his spear goes too far to the left and pieces it's way through thin air... Well poluted smelly air.
I'm going to use bodyguard on its first attack. Unless it attacks me of course.

Shera moves forward while pulling the long spear off her back. She stabs at the Otyugh.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 31d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
She slips and completely misses the Otyugh. Her spear dips into the sewer water, and Shera looks disgusted.

Sorry, was at a family event. Yagi wants to know if otyughs have any vulnerabilities, and whether they are immune to any particular attack types.

Yiel-dan flies awkwardly down the hallway, stopping just out of reach of the otyugh's tentacles.

GM Iff |

Round 1
Despite the Otyugh's slow reaction, the attacks by Culvine and Shera go wide. The arrow from Yagi's bow bounces off the creature's thick skin, even enchanted as they are to deal with this kind of creature. The Tengu does not know of any particular vulnerabilities. Luckily, the Otyugh isn't immune to any type of attack, except of course diseases.
Dindal takes the necessary precautions for combat, and Azygg is hampered from engaging into the combat by visions of the immediate future. Laurallei gives the creature an evil stare, which makes the creature blink in confusion.
The Otyugh, snarling in rage, then lashes out with two tentacles, at Culvine and Shera. Both attacks hit, causing a stinging stripe across their skin. The tentacles fail to find purchase on a limb, though, and retract. Finally, the creature lunges forward to bite Culvine, but this clumsy attack is easily dodged by the inquisitor.
Culvine takes 3 damage from the tentacle, Shera takes 4 damage. Yagi, please note that the bane arrows act as +3 against aberrations. Culvine, please note that Bodyguard unfortunately only works on adjacent allies.

Having missed his first strike, Culvine needed to make a good impression and that required blood. He brought his spear back and thrust once more toward the creature.
Ranseur: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 42d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1) + 3 = 8
Well... That was impressive. As Shera begins to mutter Culvine turns his head slightly toward her and features for he to swap to his side of the sewer. "I can heal a little" That's all he said before returning his eyes to his foe.
Two nat 1's in a row! Seriously dice bot D:
Edit: 5' shifting back so I don't get hit if I heal you... Also I don't want to get smacked again, haha.

Round 2
Dindal holds to get a clean shot with his crossbow, but with the tentacles and reach weapons behind whipped about he doesn't get a good opportunity. Laurellei then cackles and follows up with her hypnotising and sleep-inducing hex. The Otyugh blinks twice, then its eyelids close and it flops down in the waters of the sewers, snoring loud.
Shera and Culvine surprisingly manage to miss the creature, even in its current helpless condition. The rude awakening for the poor creature comes from afar, with Yagi's arrow striking true against the sleeping aberration. On impact, the arrow's magic is released, causing a vicious wound right between Togg's eyes. She wakes up imediately, roaring in pain. Azygg makes good use of the opportunity to chop at one of the tentacles before she has the opportunity to stand up, landing a solid blow.
Togg lets out a pitiful and angry wail. "Whyyyyy? Togg want food, good taste." She's obviously quite wounded but doesn't give up yet. Even prone, she lashes out at her attackers, trying to bite at the bird before her while lashing out tentacles at Culvine and Azygg in an attempt to keep them away. Her attacks however are feeble and awkward, easily dodged.
It seems the dice roller is as unkind to the Otyugh as it is to you. Take a look, if you don't believe me... Yagi, I added 2d6 (7) damage your arrow, because of the bane property.

Under the combined might of Inquisitor Culvine and Azygg, with the help of Yiel-Dan and Dindal, the wounded and prone Otyugh doesn't stand a chance. It goes down wailing. "WHAAAAUUUuuughh..." Then, the sewers return to silence.
COMBAT OVER
With the threat of the Otyugh dealt with, the Pathfinders have a better opportunity to take in their surroundings. To their right is a cavern. The bricks that once sealed off this natural cave appear to
have been removed long ago. Garbage litters the cave’s floor, and the knee-deep pile writhes with beetles. Fresher pieces of refuse lie on the top, largely untouched by the resident decomposers.
The sewers systems continues west and east at the T-junction ahead.

The Inquisitor too searches through the little den for any treasures, just incase the Otyugh had left anything behind from its last meal.

Dindal pulls up his nose and tries to breath through his mouth.
Well, good luck with that, Shera. I'll eeh... keep on the watch out, avoiding anything dirty or smelly in the sewers. He looks at Yagi.
You're right Yagi, North then East. But I think we should peek around the corner in the sewer to the east to check if something is not sneaking up on us?

GM Iff |

The pile of refuse turns out to be just that, refuse.
Inquisitor Culvine thinks he can find some recent bootprints in the sewers going west to east, but he's not entirely sure; the Otyugh dragged her body across the ground when walking, which obscures most of the other impressions.
