Yagi Mi

Neither Yagi or Yiel-Dan wears shoes, and neither seems bothered to be stepping lightly through filthy water and unidentifiable squishy blobs.
They move down the center of the cavern until Yagi can see down the passageways to the North.
Low-light vision (Yagi) and Scent 30 ft (Yiel-Dan).

The tunnel terminates in a small shrine centered around a large statue of a rat, around which handfuls of baubles and trinkets lie as if left as offerings. Nearly every brick bears some type of scratch marks, many having the appearance of writing without actually forming coherent letters. About one foot above the walkway, a large pipe emerges from the southern wall.
Dindal, Azygg, and Culvine suddenly see two figures hiding up ahead, tucked in a crevasse of the sewer wall, watching your moves. One of them is an old fellow, the other quite a bit younger. They wear a leather jerkin covered by a dark cloak, and each of them has a quarterstaff in hand. They don't seem aware yet that they've been spotted.

Dindal indeed followed Yagi as well I updated the map but didn't post this post yet >.< but kept a spot open for Laurallei to maintain the party order.
He again readies his crossbow for the distant persons (it was loaded after all), but doesn't want to look aggresive.
Inquisitor Culvine
|
Culvine holster his Ranseur on his back and equips his shield and heavy mace. He waits for his fellow combatants to ready themselves before moving toward the two men.
"Sewers... What a terrible place to be." Lacking any charm and in a monotone voice. Almost as if he were complaining about his job to the other sewer folk. Assisting his own attempt at a passing conversation by lifting a shoe and kicking some of the muck off into the water.
| GM Iff |
The older man steps out of the shadows, a few seconds after Culvine's words. "Hullo, friend." He's holding his quarterstaff and takes a defensive posture, holding up his left hand to show that he's not looking for a fight. The man looks very twitchy, and haggard. His clothes are dirty, from the sewers most likely. "Those are true words, if I've ever heard them. These sewers are cursed, I tell ya." He looks at Culvine, gauging the man's reaction.

Yagi quietly prepares his bow, but keeps it lowered.

The older man sighs when he notices that he gave his companion away, but seems to relax a bit by the non-hostile reaction. Just a bit. He gives a signal and a lanky young man steps out from the shadows. He too has a quarterstaff, which he holds in front of himself in two hands, to ward off any danger.
The older man takes the word. "I am Pellius, that is my colleague Marixite." He looks over his shoulder nervously, even though there is nothing to hear. "We're with the Cerulean Society." He looks back again, and seeing the scratch marks makes his remember Culvine's question. "No, not the scratch marks. Or maybe they do." He shudders. "There's odd bubbles in the sewer waters, and ill winds that come and go without warning. We even saw a crude human skull, a tiny one, but it vanished as soon as we touched it."
Yagi Mi
|
And why are you down here in the sewers, ers?
Inquisitor Culvine
|
Culvine remains silent and let's his companions finish the investigation, whatever turn it may take he will make himself ready for it. However for the time being, while he is in the lead, he will keep his weapon Down, as a sign of peace.
Dindal Nimaros
|
Dindal steps a bit forward and lowers his crossbow.
And who or what is the Cerulean Society? Perhaps a Knowledge(nobility) candidate ;) ?
| GM Iff |
"We're with the Cerulean Society," the man repeats himself in answer to the Tengu's question. "Just running some errands. So, can you let us on our way?"
The younger man looks over his shoulder again, and suddenly the eyes of the rat statue light up! A thin trail of smoke starts pouring from its mouth, and a high-pitchesd voice screams something that echo through the sewers. Þú einskis virði geitur! Ég mun lifna og rífa hjörtu yðar út. Skjálfa undan mér gæti!"
The young man looks back to the statue, blood drained from his voice and eyes wide in terror. "It's coming for us! You've awakened it... Aaargh!" With his quarterstaff up high he charges at your group, trying to cut a way across. The older man similarly is shaken by these events, and is ready for a fight.

Yiel-Dan readies an action to bite anything threatening him.

Round 1
Laurellei sends her hex at the older man. The curse doesn't seem to stick, but seeing the witch perform her hex sends both over the men over the edge of insanity. "See! They're cursing us, it's been them all along!" The soothing words of Yagi Mi are wasted after that.
Marixite is the quicker of the two. He jumps into the sewer to move around the bird-like creature and whacks it with his quarterstaff. Pellius follows his colleague's example, mowing his quarterstaff at the Tengu's legs. Both attacks fail to connect. From the pipe appears the head of a gremlin-like creature, wielding a tiny crossbow. It aims at Azygg and lets fly a tiny crossbow bolt, aimed straight for the throat.
Azygg takes 6 damage from the crossbow bolt. Yiel-Dan can take his readied attack. Yagi Mi, you can take your readied attack, but beware that you'll provoke from both Cerulean agents. Also, could you please roll your readied attacks when you declare them? That way, I can resolve them at the time they take place.

Round 1
Yiel-Dan strikes true and bite at Malixite's flank, inflicting quite a wound. Azugg stubmles forward, and Dindal fires a crossbow bolt that flies wide. Culvine tries to catch Marixite's quarterstaff on his shield, which is outfitted precisely for this task. His maneuver lowers his guard for a minute, but the young lad can't take advantage of that. His quarterstaff falls into the sewer water a moment later, torn from the young man's grip. Shera aims up with her crossbow, at the new opponent. The pipe offers its small form a degree of cover, but Shera's aim is true. She thinks she's scored a solid hit, but to her surprise the bolt only penetrates into the gremlin's skin for about half an inch, before falling to the ground.
Note: It's a knowledge nature check to identify the gremlin-like creature.
Round 2
Laurellei follows Shera's lead and also assaults the tiny gremlin, with one of her spells. Unfortunately her aim isn't as good. The snowball sails past the creature, dissolving in a spray of slush against the sewer wall. Yiel-Dan leaps up a bit to be able to reach the gremlin in the pipe. He grab it by the wrist, but only manages to inflict a very light wound. Yagi Mi then turns on the older of the two Cerulean agents and manages to tear his quarterstaff from the man's grip, leading to the second quarterstaff dropping into the sewer water.
Both of the Cerulean agents look for their quarterstaff, vanished somewhere in the murky sewer water. The younger of the two loses his calm and makes a mad dash for the exit, wading through the sewer water as fast a he can go. Pellius doesn't follow, but draws a dagger instead and lunges for Culvine. "Villains! You'll not take me alive!" he rants, obviously beyond reason. His state of mind also impairs his fighting skill, it seems, because his attack misses by quite a margin. The gremlin back up into the pipe, reloads its crossbow while giggling and shoots at Yagi Mi. Seconds later, a tiny crossbow bolt lodges itself between his feathers. Yagi Mi takes 1 damage.
I've indicated Marixite's path on the map. If you're eligible, you can make an AoO along with your next round's action.
Note that the gremlin is now only visible if you're directly in line with the pipe.

| GM Iff |
Yagi Mi, you're right. I'll include the info in a spoiler next time. See hte info below. If you wish to change your action, that's possible.
Yagi realizes that the creature's they're dealing with is a jinkin, a vicious kind of fey. The lean little bat-eared horror displays a mouth full of needle-like teeth and glowing, orange eyes. Sneaky and sadistic, jinkins are hideous gremlins that inhabit the dark places underground. Jinkins commonly work with or near larger or more powerful creatures; these larger creatures provide cover for the jinkins’ trickery. Jinkins delight in leading larger creatures into dangerous caves or pits, usually by lunging out of the shadows to make a single sneak attack against a creature and then running away, taking care while “fleeing” to remain visible to their target so that they can lure the victim into a trap.
Yagi knows that a jinkin is resistant to weapons, if they aren't made from cold iron. (DR 5/cold iron). They are also slightly resistant to magic and have modest magical ability of their own, both for trickery and for teleportation. (Prestidigitation and Dimension door as spell-like abilities).
Culvine, I'll interpret your action as a Disarm verses Pellius (red), instead of the Grapple, using the roll you made. Azygg, Culvine went for the older man. The lad (blue) still makes his dash, provoking Attacks of Opportunity.

Thanks, GM. I'll keep my action as is.
Yagi will, of course, relay the above information about jinkins to the party.

Round 2
Azygg doesn't have mercy on the young man and swings his mighty axe as he's running past, cutting him straight across the back. The lad cries out and then falls, face forward, into the sewer water. Dindal reloads his crossbow, while Culvine easily dislodges the dagger from the Cerulean agent's grip. Shera casts her spell on Culvine, and like Dindal reloads her crossbow.
Round 3
Laurallei hope to ends the hostilities by hexing the older man to sleep. He starts ranting about curses again, but his eyelid start to drop and he falls in the water before he gets to the end of his sentence. Yiel-Dan waits, and Yagi Mi begins casting his spell.
Then, from the pipe comes another crossbow bolt, aimed at Yagi. It lodges itself between his feathers like the last one, which elicits another string of high-pitched laughter from the jinkin in the pipe. "Haha. Horfðu á alla stóru fólk hrædd, og berjast hvert við annað. Meira! Meira!"
- Yagi Mi, you take 1 damage from the crossbow bolt.
- Dindal, I've changed your action to reload, since that would take a standard action for you and you also shot last round.
- Some clarification on the pipe: It's about two foot up from the ground, with a diameter of 3 feet. Anyone can easily step in, but I'll rule that a medium creature counts as squeezing in the pipe, small and smaller creatures don't.

The young man spits out a mouth full of dirty water and looks about himself in confusion. "Whu- Where...?"
The mite's raincloud comes together over the Jinkin's head. She looks miffed for a while, but eventually shakes it off. She watches the Tengu's arrow fly past her.
I'll wait for Laurrelei's action. To give some indication: The two Cerulean agents will not play any further part in this combat. Marixite is disabled and coughing up dirty water. Pellius will surrender once he wakes.
