Prisim |
"Well.. .that gate is not fully closed. So there must be something here still keeping it open.." notes Prisim.
"I think we may need to look in that chest."
She turns to the captive. "Can you tell us anything more about that?"
Once everyone is ready (I think Prisim is the only wounded one)
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
She'll suggest opening the chest to see if there is anything within that can close the gate.
Kambraxes of Westcrown |
Yeah, well, while the brainy Pathfinders are working on that, Kambraxes is going to make sure that cylinder is well and truly destroyed.
Longsword: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Shield Bash: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
GM Granta |
@Kambraxes: Thank you! That's what I needed to see. We've actually been finished for a week, but destroying the cylinder is part of the primary prestige condition, so I've been keeping the game alive, hoping.
The cylinder adds a few dents to Kambraxes' shield, but his longsword eventually breaks open the cylinder (hardness 10, so 80 swings to do it!). A glob of gray brain matter spills out, and Imrizade suddenly calms down. Though she looks quite confused.
GM Granta |
"I--I don't exactly know. Who are you? This place looks like my secret hideaway from when I was a kid, but the last place I remember was in Osirian. Where are we? Is this my family's museum in Absalom? I was excavating an ancient tomb outside of Sothis."
"I remember finding an iron canister covered in hieroglyphics, something about it was just fascinating. It was almost as if I could speak to it. Is that? That looks like it was the canister. What happened? Where are we?"
Prisim |
"Well.. long story. But it looks like something... that yucky brain thing" she points to the stuff leaking out of the canister took control of you.
"Yes, you are under the museum. There are lots of odd things happening. Dead guards, animated statues, fungi... and you had these horrible green tentacles. It was all leading to a gateway that was formed."
She takes out the paper with the hieroglyphs. "Does that make any sense to you?"
GM Granta |
I take it you mean the sheet of paper from the Scriptorium?
"Yes. That looks like my handwriting, but I don't remember writing it. It explains how to use that canister to open The Gate of the Beyond, and warns not to damage it while still connected. If the canister is destroyed while attached to the Gate, it will unravel the magical energies that hold everything together."
Technically, energies keep leaking through the gate, and problems keep recurring, until the Arcanamirium finally figures it out and finds another way to destroy the gate.
Xavier Grayson Flaxseed |
"Hmm, yes indeed it does, Afllier."
Xavier will make a show of trying to help the big man get off of the Blakros woman before narrowing an eye behind his monocle at her conversation with Prism...
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (9) + 0 = 9
Xavier draws near to the Imrizade as the conversation goes on, taking out a bit of parchment and quill to taking notes for the archives, but is (almost definitely) unable to tell if this is just some sort of an elaborate ruse or not.
"My dear Lady Blakros, I don't suppose you might be interested in accompanying us back to the Grand Lodge so that those of more learned skill can examine you to make certain that you are once again fully healthy both mentally and physically?
...and also, I wonder if you might be interested in collaborating on a research paper or two concerning these artifacts and energies with my associates of the Dark Archive?"
