Sahess |
So that would turn the deeper darkness off, right? And I can move, and will be hasted momentarily? Will post in the morning once I have a ruling.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Per the Light and Darkness blog the daylight spell negates the darkness spell, and other magical light sources fail to function. Only nonmagical light sources can light the area. So only those with darkvision can see at the moment.
Greyveil |
Not a big deal but shouldn't the roll to determin the spell cast be Spellcraft and the DC be 15+spell level? Is it higher/different maybe because its a spell-like or supernatural ability?
Targeted Bomb, No Splash, range Touch: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 14 + 1 + 2 = 224d6 + 11 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 5) + 11 = 24
Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 + 4 = 13
Knowledge(Arcana): 1d20 + 15 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 15 + 2 + 4 = 33
would have liked to reverse those two rolls. :)
Sahess |
Sahess grunts as the light effects fight with eachother. "Can someone dispel their darkness so a lady is able to see and destroy? I do not yet have the senses of my dragon ancestors." Two more levels... Also really wish I had the shiny rock my wizard has. She can't see well enough to enter the room and so she casts Long Arm, so that when she can see and do something, it won't be wasted. "Light a torch even, crack a sunrod, set someone on fire, I'm flexible." She seems exasperated at her lack of getting to hit things.
Greyveil |
Greyveil is at the top of the initiative tracker and has darkvision so I believe he is up again? When his bombs hit I think the light of the fire will illuminate the room briefly, no?
As a swift action Greyveil switches his Channeled Vigor to Spirit to bolster his will and throws more bombs at the same target. Should it fall, he will switch to another target.
Targeted Bomb, No Splash, range Touch: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 14 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 334d6 + 11 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 5) + 11 = 25
Hasted Targeted Bomb, No Splash, range Touch: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 14 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 364d6 + 11 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 5) + 11 = 29
Heightened Awareness - +2 Perception and all knowledges you are trained in
Barkskin - +3 NA
Reduce Person +1 to AC and to hit, +8 to stealth, +2 to Dex, which is another +1 to hit and AC and stealth.
Heroism - +2 morale bonus on attack rolls, saves, and skill checks.
Alchemical Admixture – Displacement - 50% miss chance
Targeted Bomb Admixture No Splash plus double your Intelligence modifier
Channel Vigor, currently set on Mind (+4 Knowledge and Perception)
Can also be set on – Limbs (Haste), Spirit (+6 Will, Bluff, and Intimidate), Torso (+6 Fort and concentration)

Not a big deal but shouldn't the roll to determin the spell cast be Spellcraft and the DC be 15+spell level? Is it higher/different maybe because its a spell-like or supernatural ability?
Spellcraft is for seeing the spell or SLA cast, which no one did, so this is instead Knowledge Arcana to identify a spell effect in place.
Greyveil is at the top of the initiative tracker and has darkvision so I believe he is up again? When his bombs hit I think the light of the fire will illuminate the room briefly, no?
Greyveil's readied attack went before the enemy and changed his initiative, so yes he is up again. Got my initiative order operations backwards. I will update the tracker and resolve actions when I have a chance this morning.
Seldiliel Sharondaerl |
How about this? Would this count as magical or non-magical light?
Prismatic Crystal
Knowledge:Planes: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Knowledge:Arcana: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (3) + 20 = 23
Crushed it on that Knowledge:Planes. Seldiliel would like to know about resistances, spell-like abilities, and special attacks, in that order.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Yes, that will work, since it is nonmagical. (Woo occult stuff!)
Greyveil's first bomb strikes the chain creature and burns it merrily! The creature keeps coming, flailing at Thoriel, managing to catch her with one cut of the sharp barbs.
Damage from Earlier Spoiler: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 3) + 2 = 8
Selidliel realizes they are kyton outsiders, inured against the the frozen reaches of the stars (cold immunity), but have no magic of their own (no SLAs), just a supernatural mastery of chains (dancing chains and chain armor abilities).
27 Chusynd (Damage: 17)
25 Thoriel (Damage: 8)
18 Veiled Captive (Damage: 12)
12 Tak
11 Seldiliel
10 Greyveil
25 Red
9 Blue (Damage: 24)
9 Green
9 Sahess
Bolded may take actions, Greyveil's bombs will resolve after.
Chusynd Karkota |
Since that works, and since Tak cast daylight, Chusynd will step back around the corner and cast blessing of fervor, targeting his allies.
Luas agus inniúlacht, ó lámh Aróden!
Grandmaster TOZ |
Those of you with darkvision also see the masked figure from the illusion standing behind Thoriel now.
Grandmaster TOZ |
According to the crystal, it increases light within 10ft by one step. So it is dim light within 10ft of Seldiliel on her turn, and darkness beyond. If it were normal light in 10 and dim for 20, then you would be able to see 20. Honestly, I am not really sure on this one.
Double (triple?) Edit: Reading through the blog comments, you are right.
Seldiliel Sharondaerl |
Gripping the psychic crystal above her head in order to provide light in the darkness, Seldiliel clamors past the crates stacked up against the wall. Her eyes light up with a malevolent gleam and her skin takes on a sickly pink sheen as she allows her Dark Half to come out.
While you’re manifesting your dark half, you increase the DCs of your psychic spells by 1, gain a +2 morale bonus on Will saves, and become immune to fear effects. Whenever you cast a spell that deals damage while manifesting your dark half, you can cause one creature that took damage from the spell to also take 1 point of bleed damage. The amount of bleed damage increases to 2 points at 5th level and to 1d6 points at 13th level. While manifesting your dark half, You can’t use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration other than casting spells using psychic magic, using phrenic amplifications, or attempting to return to normal. You can attempt to return to your normal self as a free action, but must succeed at a concentration check with a DC equal to 10 + your caster level. If you fail, you continue to manifest your dark half and can’t attempt to change back for 1 round.

"YOU CREAMPUFF KYTONS THINK YOU KNOW PAIN! I'LL SHOW YOU PAIN! I'M GOING TO..." Seldiliel begins to rant things at the Kytons in Infernal that are better left unrecorded.
Seldiliel casts Mind Thrust IV at the blue kyton, amplifying it with Relentless Casting.
Mind Thrust IV, Will DC 21 for 1/2: 8d8 ⇒ (3, 3, 5, 4, 7, 7, 3, 1) = 33
The Kyton will start taking 2 bleed damage per round. It is also fatigued for 1 round if it fails the Will save.
Caster level check in case of spell resistance, Relentless Casting applied
Caster level: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Caster level: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Grandmaster TOZ |
Seldiliel did not exactly prepare for it, but her targets for haste were reduced suddenly. You may take your readied action to haste everyone but Thoriel and Chusynd if you wish.
Grandmaster TOZ |
The two creatures that attacked before the darkness are kytons, evil outsiders that preach pain and suffering as the holiest of virtures. One question per 5 over the DC.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Tak recalls that kytons also have an unnerving gaze as they pull familiar faces from foes subconsciousness and shift their appearances to resemble them. They have no special defenses beyond regeneration, requiring silver weapons or good aligned attacks to truly kill them.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Seldiliel feels resistance to her psychic attack, but her unrelenting assault crushes through it!
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
The kyton staggers, hissing back "You know the path. Walk it with the Midnight Lord!" in exultation.

Thoriel Liltamael |
Thoriel steps towards one of the kytons, as she attempts to magically charge up her sword into a freezing ice blade which she slashes at the kyton with multiple times in quick succession.

Frigid Touch damage was 16 if any of the subsequent attacks hit and discharged that charge, as well as staggering the enemy.
Seldiliel Sharondaerl |
I was readying for Sahess to enter the room. I think that action ends up being wasted because the trigger never went off.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Edit: Got it, will remove the hasted bomb.
Thoriel's attacks force the kyton on the defensive, but glance off of the chains warding him. Greyveil's first bomb washed over the other kyton, sending it to the floor. Even in the darkness, the party can see the burns beginning to heal. Seldiliel's spell seems to match pace with its regeneration.
Short Sword on Thoriel: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (1) + 23 = 24

Tak and Nail |
Tak does not like the look of the flanking situation.
Tak uses Slumber on Red (DC20: 7 rounds)
"Let the night take you and do no more harm."
Sorry about using slumber I try to hold off using it, but the character is a pacifist and half of our fount line can't see anything.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Anything to put this farce to bed...
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Yay!
Chusynd Karkota |
Thoriel heals 5 and Chusynd takes 5.
Chusynd releases a wand from his wrist sheath and activates it. Taitneamh a bhaint as bronntanas Aróden ar!
Bless is up, +1 morale bonus to hit and to saves vs. fear.
Sahess |
Sahess finally squeezes into the room as she can see, though only barely. Double move due to squeezing / moving through people?
Sahess |
I counted double for squeezing through the door, and for passing through the space of 2 allies, either way without haste I'm only at 25 feet.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Allies don't increase movement costs, but you are correct that it is immaterial.
The kyton falls, its outsider nature providing no defense against Tak's hex!
Chusynd can choose another action in light of Tak's buffs.

He takes the +2 to hit and AC from Blessing of Ferver now that a large ally is in front of Greyveil.
Greyveil flutters to another corner, up high to have a clear shot, and throws a fire bomb. His aim is good; a near perfect shot.
Targeted Bomb, No Splash, range Touch: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 14 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 394d6 + 11 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 6) + 11 = 29

I am not sure I did the crit damage right. Might not get all that. Help?

That's what I get for not playing attention as well as I should. Sorry I missed the bless, Tak.
And yes, Greyveil, Point Blank Shot is a static addition to dice, so it doubles on a crit.
Chusynd will delay.

Seldiliel points at the the kyton who is still standing and cries out in Infernal, "LAY DOWN UPON THE GROUND AND ACCEPT YOUR PUNISHMENT!"
I believe that I can use the Blessings of Fervor to extend this to two rounds.

It will require a CL check against SR however. :)
Sorry, I did forget to turn it over. That one is slumber hex'd.

So Thoriel had no enemies left to attack? Might be best to delay then and see if things start to make more sense to her by her next turn.
Seldiliel Sharondaerl |

Are all the bad guys decommissioned already? Is it coup de grace time? (I'm assuming that's what would happen since kytons are pretty evil)
