A long, dreary winter has finally come to an end. The people of New York City are enjoying their first nice Saturday in several months. Citizens are flocking to the crown jewel of NYC's park system, the one of a kind Central Park. Jogging, walking, napping, playing, biking, eating, reading, or simply watching the various street entertainers, thousands of New Yorkers have descended upon the pathways, forests, ponds, fields, and museums spread over the two and a half mile long recreational area.
Included among them is your character. What has brought you to the Park today? Which area of the park are you in? Did you come alone or with a friend?
GM NOTE: Check out http://www.centralparknyc.org/ for info on the park including an excellent interactive map with pictures of its various landmarks. GAME ON!!!

The whole city was having fun, and Stan was working.
In this case, 'work' was mostly waiting, and waiting was literally painful for Stan.
He squeezed a hand exerciser and paced, trying to stave off the growing discomfort in his muscles. He was fine for now, but another twenty minutes and he was going to have to take drastic measures.
He was looking for a fugitive who may be a metahuman, and waiting for a medical analysis from the blood taken from the crime scene. He'd been told that it would be ready at 1:00. It was 1:40.
Normally he'd be chewing someone out by now, but when the Special Affairs Director manages to get a metahuman analysis from Mr. Fantastic, it pays to be patient.
The two ever-present orb-shaped recorders drifted around the lobby of the Baxter building, giving his viewers a rare tour, guided by one of the automated receptionists. Stan listened with half an ear, but mostly tried to subdue his growing need to move.

Blacklight |

Harely moved along the walk at East Drive and turned down the path toward Cleopatra's Needle. He liked being outside in the sun, and took every opportunity he could find to fill the warmth and the light on his skin.
He remembered the first time he came to The Park, with a group from the orphanage. His brother wanted to runaway then to become lost in the forest of trees and get away from the rules of the home. It was a lot different than the last time he came to The Park with his brother, that time they both mugged a couple and used the forest of trees to get away from the police.
Moving up to a bench Harely sits and closes his eyes as he turns his dark face to the sun. He warms almost instantly with his arms spread out across the back of the bench and his bare legs in his shorts stretched out before him.
"Things are different now and I don't want to be the same man who was here the last time," he thinks to himself. "But what if I can't change?"

He nods and smiles to those that made eye contact since it he still new to NYC. He hasn't formed any solid relationships yet since getting a position at the college last semester. It something he hopes to work on in the near future.

Elizabeth waits at the Loch. She had come out here to meet with Steven a promising Physics student. She sighed now as she looked at her watch and saw him an hour wait.
her palm twitched eagerly wanting to get on her cell phone and call him. She advised against it and waited. She hated being stood up. She though felt her phone buzz and picked it up. It was Hank.
He had texted her asking if her paramour had come and swept her off her feet. She smiled and than sighed again. She texted him back.
Lizzie: No Hank, my paramour must of heard that I slept with you and fears some how of catching a mutant disease
She sighs as she than adds.
Lizzie: Hank I miss you, I know your busy at the School but can you come and see me some time, Please? I miss our conversations, and well You need to tend to your experiments every once in awhile too you know.
She than looks at her out fit and sighs. All dolled up and no one to impress, My mother would kill me if she saw me.. and Uncle Al! oh god it would be the sex talk all over again!
Lizzie Stood there in her simple thin white coat over a red tank top and a nice pair of hip hugging jeans of a light blue. her blonde hair was up and she was there a belle with no beau. She was getting pissed. She really wanted to use those oddballs she had in her back pack, and find Steven and teach him a thing or too about standing a woman up, but she calmed her self reminding her self she was trying to make a name as an Inventor, and hopefully a new Heroic Oddball.

Whippoorwill |

It was a good day for flying. With the long winter months past, Whippoorwill could finally stretch her wings. She swooped in low across Central Park, smoothly and silently on the wind.
She couldn't believe she was in New York. Super Hero Central. And the number of costumed villains was just as many, if not more. She wondered if she should have stayed in Miami, or Atlanta, or any number of cities where the powered population was less dense. But Whet had insisted. So she made her way up the eastern seaboard, only to be snowed, and iced, and sleeted in for weeks.
She shook herself out of her reverie by basking a bit in the warm sunlight and banking a turn along the treetops. By staying above the trees, she avoided most of the park goers who might still be alarmed at the sight of a woman with a twelve-foot wingspan soaring overhead, typical New Yorker or no.
She glided a bit more just for the sheer serenity of it, staying aloft through the spring breezes and not putting to use the powerful muscles of her wings. She drifted along towards Cedar Hill, noting an array of kites also making use of the wind. Just as she neared, a beautiful box kite snagged a trailing sport kite, tangling both up in their lines. Whippoorwill altered course easily, grabbed the box kite and spun quickly in midair, separating the two kites before they could plummet to the ground.
Way to go, Bri, she thought as she wheeled over the heads of the openmouthed kite flyers, your first heroic act in New York is rescuing a kite. At least you can only go up from there.
She snapped a quick beat of her wings and accelerated across the park, skimming over the trees before the kite-flyers could train their cell phone cameras on her. She heeled over when she found a small clearing amongst the trees hidden from most of the footpaths, and gracefully touched the ground.
She unpacked a small bag she had brought along with her on this flight, and laid out the cloth on the ground. Settling down on it, she rather contentedly enjoyed a picnic lunch in Central Park.

The sun plays tag with a few wispy clouds, as a slight breeze rustles the newly formed leaves. Occasionally, the sounds of the city intrude upon the pastoral tableau, but if one ignores the tall buildings in the distance, one could easily pretend to be far from the relentless activity of the city that never sleeps.
Dogs bark while children laugh, and the comforting clip clop of the various horse carriages calms ears weary of the endless hustle and bustle of the streets. Meanwhile, the odor of freshly cut grass competes with the tantalizing aromas of the various food vendors.
College kids mingle with tourists, while couples walk hand in hand or steal a kiss on picnic blanket. Frisbees share the air with footballs, just as rollerblades share the paths with strollers.
Thousands of people doing hundreds of things, all focused on their own little worlds.
Until the screaming starts.
DM Note: Everybody in the park make an intuition check. I need the result as well as the color. What you need depends on where you are. Reds are successful regardless.
Stan: you are currently out of the loop. The Baxter building is too far away, but we'll get you into the mix soon enough.

Bill Kirsch |
Blacklight: The screams are coming from the west, across the Turtle Pond, near the Delacorte Theater. You can't see anything directly, but you hear sounds of destruction, as if somebody scheduled a demolition in the middle of the park!
Oddball2: Far to the south, you hear sounds of a disturbance somewhere beyond the Reservoir.
Wolf: Focusing on the sights and sounds of your immediate area, you detect nothing amiss. You do notice a few people around you stopping what they're doing and staring to the south. Perhaps a roll against your Hyper-Senses will prove more fruitful.
DM NOTE: You can sub your senses for Intuition rolls to detect things.
Whippoorwill: There is some kind of disturbance occurring to your northwest. You remember seeing a body of water with some structures nestled against it in that direction earlier.
Stan: The Robo-receptionist offers you a cold beverage and a coupon for the Baxter Building's gift shop. It will save you 20% on any item over $10! ;-)
DM NOTE: Don't forget, that if you wish to use karma for any roll, you must declare it. For the purposes of our game, Type KARMA before the using the dice ap. Remember, you can bail if the cost of success is too steep, but you pay a penalty of 10 points regardless.

As the sounds carry across the park, Whippoorwill stands, listening. She furrows her brow as she feels a creeping sense of alarm. She heeds her instincts, leaving her half-finished lunch in the tiny clearing as she takes to the sky. A few powerful beats of her wings bear her aloft swiftly and she scans the park.
She catches the wind and angles into it, letting it carry her up higher for a better vantage, even as she steers herself toward the northwest.

Harely hears the screams and the sounds of... "demolition?" and notices everyone nearby looking off in the same direction. Taking the opportunity Harely makes his way behind the Obelisk and quickly changes before taking flight above those still looking towards the noise.
OOC: Heading towards the Turtle Pond

Bill Kirsch |
Oddball2: you are making excellent time, but you have a lot of ground to cover, not to mention the reservoir to skirt. You do notice some smoke or dust billowing up beyond the southern shore of the water.
Wolf: you detect the palpable stench of fear from the south, along with some strange blast-like noises, followed by the crashing of debris.
Whippoorwill and Blacklight: I need intuition checks to determine how much detail of the scene you are about to witness your characters actually observe.
DM Note: I will open the discussion thread tomorrow. Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to review the combat rules and check out pics online of turtle pond and the theater and castle that border it in order to help visualize the area. Marvel isn't as movement tactical as other games, but a picture paints a thousand words.

Standing upon some of the lower rocks in front of the miniature castle is a man garbed in a brown and yellow insulated suit with metal gauntlets, which are currently aimed at the foundations of the castle. Sustained waves of concussive force are emanating from the gauntlets, in the process of destroying the Castle from the bottom up. While most of the people have given the structure a wide berth, a few are trapped upon the roof, which is in the process of tearing away!
Whippoorwill: There are three people trapped on the roof: two women and a young boy. The older women is holding on to a section of the wall for dear life, but the younger woman is sliding towards the edge with her son embraced to her chest. To make matters worse, there's another guy destroying the theater to the North, this one dressed all in green with a giant tail. He's already wrecked the stage and is currently making his way through the amphitheater, putting dozens of people at risk. And, oh yeah, something weird is flying towards you.
Blacklight: Some crazy guy's attacking the castle! You don't notice much beyond that. Please describe yourself to Whippoorwill.
DM NOTE: W and B need to roll Initiative (don't forget your Intuition/Talent bonuses) and declare actions (don't forget 2 actions requires a RE intensity Fighting (or Power) feat, while 3 is an AM intensity feat)You may also roll Reason checks to see if you recognize any of the bad guys. Neither bad guy seems to have noticed you yet.
Oddball2: That doesn't go quite as planned and you almost end up in the drink! You're at the north edge of the Reservoir now. Do you head east or west? Or do you attempt to swim it?
Wolf: Make a sense check to see if you notice the strangely garbed women attempting to bounce from tree to tree. Oh, and tell me what you're doing now.
Stan: Your comlink activates: Agent, what's your status? There's some kind of disturbance in Central Park. Can you respond?

Special Agent Service |

"Was still stuck at the Baxter Building, sir. I'm on my way." he says into his earpiece.
"Tell Dr. Richards I'll have to come back later." Stan says to the robo-receptionist.
Rushing out to his bike, he slams the helmet down on his head and says "Link, I need traffic flow. Destination: central park. Optimize for time."
A flipped switch activates the slights and siren on Stan's motorcycle and he races into New York traffic, weaving between cars and trying to keep up with the information his operator was giving him.
Link is Stan's operator, the code name for whichever tech is handling web-traffic and information monitoring. Basically it's the person behind the two little camera-bots that filters information for Stan while he's in the field.

Blacklight adjusts the black leather mask that covers all of his head but his mouth and chin. Everyone will know he is an African-American but that wasn't something he wanted to hide.
The rest of his suit was once a black wetsuit he had sewed some small football pads into the knees, elbows, and shoulders after a couple bad landings. The thick chain around his waist use to belong to his brother, who used it as a weapon, and now reminded him of the old life he no longer wanted. Add in some thick gloves and combat boots and you got the newest hero on the block.
As he flew in to the scene a trail of darkness followed him like the tail of a comet. There was nothing he could do about it. It was just some odd effect of the new powers Harely now possessed.
Figuring the "Demolition Man" to probably be some chump who enjoyed destroying things at random, Blacklight quickly threw down a black-brick wall between the man and the castle. (IN 40 material strength)

Wolf: some minutia we don't need to roll for. Assume you change efficiently and continue on your way., which path do take? East or west? West might allow some RP with Oddball but sure to check her link to the costume since you just got a good look at it.
O and S you are on the way. Once Whippoorwill posts we will continue.

Oh, no. Whippoorwill accelerated hard towards the people in trouble on the roof. Noting the dark figure approaching, there was little she could do but hope she could rescue them before it got there.
Suddenly, the mother loses her grip and the two plummet. Whippoorwill dives desperately, folding her wings behind her. She grabs the two in midair and opens her wings, banking away from the rocky walls of the castle. I gotcha, I gotcha, she soothes, and she unfurls her great wings and puts everything into the strong beats to bear them aloft. Strength: 1d100 ⇒ 100

Whippoorwill's heart surged as she banked away from the castle and out over the waters of the pond. She glanced down at the two people in her arms -- eyes clenched in terror, certainly, but gloriously, fantastically alive. She took the briefest of moments to commit their faces to memory, then she again faced ahead as she angled toward shore.
Her wings flared out, slowing her to a safe speed as they dropped just above the soft, wet grass of the early spring. Go on, run! she admonished as she lowered them to the earth, not wanting to waste any time to get back to the other person on the castle. She beat her wings hard to quickly return.

Okay, one turn at a time.
First turn: Whippoorwill successfully saves the two civilians (+40 Karma to you BTW) by grabbing them out of the air. Blacklight creates the wall in front of the bad guy.
Bad guy #1: Turns to see where the wall comes from and spies Blacklight. He gestures with his gauntlets and unleashes a wave of vibrational energy! 1d100 ⇒ 14 WHITE! The blast misses you, but you can infer that it is not something you want to get hit by.
Bad guy #2: Continues to destroy the theater, but then stops and turns to look at the erupting battle behind him.
DM NOTE: Only Whippoorwill has noticed the second bad guy. Blacklight, make an additional Intuition check to notice more. Remember, if you want to do something in addition to maintaining the wall, you will have to make a RE intensity power FEAT (which I think is a GREEN feat for you).
SECOND TURN: Whippoorwill drops the civilians off in a safe place and takes back to the air.
Blacklight, you are up next.
Oddball2 and Wolf you continue to advance towards the disturbance, both noticing increasing amounts of smoke and debris over the trees to the south. Make three rolls each against whatever power/ability you want (Endurance if you don't have any movement powers) to determine how quickly you arrive.
Stan: you hop on the bike and race towards the park. You start at 42nd and Madison, so you have a ways to go. Make five CONTROL checks against the stats of your bike to see how much time you can shave off the journey.
